  • Avenue Red Podcast #183.1 - Liepu Saloj
Avenue Red presents part 2 of this 2-part podcast episode by Liepu Saloj from Kaunas, Lithuania. This one takes you on the same kind of wild, undulous ride through a wide breadth of tempos and styles, generally in some kind of eccentric orbit around planet techno. However it is certainly the more "afterhours vibes" mix of the two.

  • Avenue Red Podcast #183 - Liepu Saloj
Almost exactly 2 years ago Avenue Red featured a Lithuanian DJ/artist in a two-part episode of ethereal, beautiful yet strange techno-oriented stylings. He came from his country's second largest city of Kaunas. His name was Liepu Saloj... and he's back! And it's yet another double-mix payload too! :D
For this first instalment he delivers almost 100 minutes of his trademark DJ'ing style of high-intensity, tightly sequenced, unusually mixed techno deepness that excites the ear, captures the imagination and moves the body in equal measures.

  • Avenue Red Podcast #182 - zodya
After a month of silence, the Avenue Red Podcast engine is cranked back up into life with a high-octane mixture of electro and breaks, delivered in a blitzkrieg assault from a Moscow-born and Berlin-based DJ, events organiser and all-round top guy known as zodya.
This mix is fully "injected with the poison!", drenched in 90's rave-era nostalgia as zodya intelligently connects the dots between a lot of disparate areas of this exciting breaks-driven kind of sound. The result is a lesson in how to mix and especially "flow" as a DJ. Get ready for a super smiley, entertaining mix of total madness!
"I recorded this mix at home imagining a set that I would want to hear or play at a club: energetic and eclectic. Thanks to Avenue Red for having me on. Stay safe and enjoy the flow!" Ilya Minaev, April 2021

  • Avenue Red Podcast #181 - Quadrant Soundscape
After changing city twice in 2020 - from Newcastle to Belgrade, then Belgrade to Manchester - Avenue Red has now settled here permanently in the capital of Northern England. For the first time since doing so, we are happy to present a mix from this great city as we introduce Quadrant Soundscape, a dynamic duo of promotors, DJs, producers & podcasters, each also operating under other guises (Asphalt Layer/Scavenger). They also run the Dub Explorations series, which has been alive for exactly 5 years to date. This platform is aptly-titled and through it they have transmitted 71 episodes of mind-bendingly deep, dubby, intergalactic techno sounds alongside a few intriguing guests.
As we enter March and the spring season, let's embrace the uplifting vibes, the green shoots, the longer and brighter days. Let's usher in this new era of newfound optimism and hope with this cool, calm, collected blend of eclectic, soul-warming electronic music by these 2 passionate Mancunian "deep heads"!
"Firstly, thank you to Alec for the opportunity to become part of the Avenue Red family, joining the incredible artists already in the series is a real privilege. This mix has been in the works for almost a year now and has taken many different forms during that time. Originally a submission made a year ago could not be released due to a defect with the recording, but here is the fresh new stereo take!
Undoubtedly this time has been tough for all of us, and so this mix is a refection and reaction to how we've been feeling. There are elements of happiness, sadness, madness and everything in-between, all tracks were carefully considered and are all there on merit, bringing together our love of all things deep, dubby, house-y. This mix is best enjoyed in the sunshine with a cold one. Peace, Quadrant Soundscape." Tommy Harrison & Wilson Logan, March 2021

  • Avenue Red Podcast #180 - Paranoid SouL
Avenue Red Podcast texts are usually rather functional: an introduction to the DJ/artist by name; some words to indicate where they come from or are based followed by some poetic, descriptive junk about the sonic contents of the package. The artwork image is often chosen after some dialogue with the artist, which almost always transpires to be one of architecture, spaces, places, a street or a skyline view from their hometown or where they are based and running their musical operations.
This is not an ordinary introduction as here we have only a great mix and the backing of a strong underground reputation of some shadowy figure (or figures), whose location is unknown. This odd piece of barely intelligible text accompanies every publication from the entity known as "Paranoid SouL", who is/are also behind the awesome SPACE VIEWX label/podcast:
"A Paranoid SouL is a gnomic, yet an imperceptible gathering that's held after every second.
    This is where perplexed Intellects,
    interjected Interpretations,
    petrified moods,
    unaccustomed angles,
    undistinguished trains..
    constrained recommendations...
encounter to work on their differences, formulate the existence of this being thats publicly titled David Motang." [sic]
Smoke, mirrors, mystery and an hour of seriously spacey, trippy dub techno music that makes an ideal soundtrack to explore other worlds to. And surely, that's enough.
"Thank you very much for being so very kind as to allow me to be part of the great Avenue Red Podcast. Had a priceless time curating the mix. I've always wished to be featured on the journey. Well with the tracklisting I'm not promising because I've recently got a job that's miles away from home and I'm still uncertain when I'll be going home and not only that but now that I got a job my time on electronics is very short and limited but I'll try my utmost best although I'm not promising... really hope this won't sabotage my release submission. Thank you very much once again! You're very kind." Paranoid SouL, February 2021

  • Avenue Red Podcast #179 - Álfbeat
It's time to introduce another act from Iceland. Emerging from the cold, bleak, beautiful land of many contrasts and a massively high per-capita population of true underground music heads, Avenue Red welcomes a friend and DJ/collector Ása Lind Finnbogadóttir AKA Álfbeat from Reykjavik.
This trailblazing 68-minute session encompasses a wide range of styles: from abstract electronic breakbeats to IDM; from razor sharp futuristic electro to deep, minimalistic techno. Here Ása shows her musical maturity and wisdom, with top quality mixing and classy, considered sequencing to open her account here at Avenue Red! It's also uplifting to see that, as is common with the Icelandic underground folks, plenty of support is given to her fellow Icelandic creators in this "far-out" set of tracks that are both stark and enchanting, like the local landscapes.
"I was truly honoured for being asked to make a mix for Avenue Red. I have listened to many great mixes in this series. I have been home in quarantine like most people and have been spinning a lot of music. This is a varied techno mix with some abstract electro for good measure, featuring new Icelandic music with some proper beats! ;)" Ása Lind Finnbogadóttir, February 2021

  • Avenue Red Podcast #178 - Nemanja Stanojcic
Avenue Red presents the second instalment of true deepness from DJ Nemanja Stanojcic, who hails from Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia. This is yet another all-vinyl selection from his nice collection of subterranean house & techno, as always layered nicely with an undercurrent of dreamy, groovy, trippy vibes.
"Hi everyone! This mix picks up where my last one for Avenue Red Podcast (episode 143) left off... welcome back into my world of spaced-out deep house grooves." Nemanja Stanojcic, January 2021

  • Avenue Red Podcast #177 - Carloscres
For the first time in a long time (and we haven't had many), Avenue Red presents a mix from the USA. Here we present Carloscres, a producer and DJ from Caracas, Venezuela who is now based in Houston, Texas. Primarily a purveyor of refined, high grade deep house/tech house stylings, Carloscres established himself within the underground music scene from his growing catalogue of widely-supported productions and by playing in a plethora of interesting bars, clubs and special music events around the states.
As a producer, his career kicked off with his first EP on Andre Kronert's 2600 Records, followed by another release on Nikola Gala's imprint. Over the years his works have graced many labels including Loco Records, Bosom, Soulstar, Society 3.0, Jesus Was Black and Oslo's Bogota Records. This mix is his latest document as DJ: a strong selection of brooding minimalist tech house; breezy, twilight deep house; driving, late night tech house and some scattered, jagged jazz-house vibes to finish.
"I grew up in Venezuela and have been playing and producing music since 2008, always trying to innovate and shape the deeper side of House and Techno. A few weeks ago I decided to record my first vinyl-only mix. This 1-hour journey is something between deep, dub and minimal House, with some amazing artists that I’ve been digging lately. Last but not least, I want to thank Alec and Avenue Red for the opportunity, and I really hope you enjoy the mix!" Carlos Mateu, January 2021

  • Avenue Red Podcast #176 - Stas Vasilev
Avenue Red presents another new episode on another Christmas day (today being Christmas for Orthodox countries like Russia, Ukraine, Serbia etc), as we introduce yet another DJ from Moscow, Russia... enter house music maestro Stas Vasilev!
Stas is a true don of the kind of music that would be an ideal backdrop at smartly-decorated neon cocktail bars, or at sweet summer beaches with his trademark sound of jazzy, funky uplifting house and broken nujazz. This is the perfect antidote to the dark winter. We recommend listening at high volume with a well-garnished Mojito in hand, wearing your best Hawaiian shirt - shades on too. Let's take a moment to look towards the summer with this perfectly mixed, treacly flow of kicking 4/4 ear candy to get 2021 underway here on the Avenue Red Podcast!

  • Avenue Red Podcast #175 - Bogota Soundsystem
Avenue Red has brought forth with a Christmas-day release. This is the hidden gift behind the tree that has cometh at the 8th hour past noon. We welcome Lille-based Columbian-French selector extraordinaire Victor Mottez, who musically masquerades under the guise of Bogota Soundsystem. Here Victor takes us on a nostalgic trip through the Hacienda-era influences that are rife in his record box full of edgy new beat, acid house, new wave and more.
"I am Colombian-born, north of France raised, currently based in Lille, French Flanders capital. I play pretty much every style from ambient music to new beat via Italo/dub disco. I've got affection for a wide range of music. One adjective: esoteric selection.
Thanks again to Alec for giving me this opportunity to express myself on his channel. I wanted to build a multi-genre mix but with a real guideline, playing only 80's & 90's sounds. The result is a mix of breaks, slow trance, dub techno with a little touch of Balearic & house music.
Full of dreamy, trancey and melancholy sounds, this mix will lead you to timeless motion. Hope you'll like it, and that it will make you want to go back to the club quickly!" Victor Mottez, December 2020
