  • Avenue Red Podcast #075 - Mihail P
    For this new Avenue Red podcast episode we welcome DJ and producer Mihail P from the small town of Vinica in Macedonia. Mihail has been a friend of Avenue Red for a couple of years via various music-related circles and we see he has a strong passion for the deeper, more emotive shades of electronic music like we do. And most importantly of all, he demonstrates great taste and the knowledge of a true crate digger! However, until recently we had not heard much output from the mysterious moustached Macedonian.
    He has gathered some due recognition via his contribution to the excellent debut release on Verdant Recordings - the Emerald City EP, which we think to be a bona fide 5-* 4-tracker, with his work featuring alongside tracks from John Shima, Plant43 and Leigh Dickson of the Transition Crew. Release information here: https://www.discogs.com/Various-Emerald-City/master/1052390. We were very impressed with this mix from Mihail to follow his debut release as a producer, it's just the kind of trip we look to experience here at Avenue Red. Keep an eye out for this man, he has the required skills ;)
    "For me it's always about the atmosphere that a track provides and how that melts with the current environment. For this mix my initial concept was deep, thoughtful "mind" music. I wanted to capture a really distant vibe in space and time, with glowing pads from the past and the future, coalesced into a sonic vision for a nicely crafted deep mix." Mihail Petrovski, October 2016

  • Avenue Red Podcast #074 - Josh Lentink
    Josh Lentink is back with his 4th Avenue Red mix, another fine journey this time with an even stronger emphasis on Electro sounds than his previous excursions on the series. He is clearly bitten and infected by it like we are also at present!
    "I made this mix with a space theme in mind. Initially it was going to be almost entirely electro but later I decided to build up to that sound. There's tracks from two of my favourite albums of the year, Vakula's wonderful album on Dekmantel and the seriously strong return of Convextion! Enjoy the trip! X" Josh Lentink, January 2016

  • Avenue Red Podcast #073 - Egor Kuchepatov
    The next Avenue Red podcast comes from Egor Kuchepatov, the second DJ on the series (after Kammerton) who hails from the Russian city of Ulyanovsk. DJ'ing since 2007, Egor's musical passions range from dub techno to deep, minimal, melodic house and techno sounds. His mixes never cling to any specific genre or musical era, as you can hear from his many diverse podcast releases on his own podcast series called DHAR:MA and on others such as the awesome Hello Strange from Russia, Caranday from Argentina and several others. Clearly a hard worker with a great collection of music to divulge and man, his transitions are expertly crafted!
    "This mix was recorded on a rainy, melancholic evening when the soul is required of warmth and pleasure. Feel like dancing... the walls, the whole world is in constant motion around you, millions of thoughts per second rushing through the consciousness. At this point you can only go with the flow and try to extract something new... music is the best way to capture this. I bid you pleasant listening!" Egor Kuchepatov, September 2016

  • Avenue Red Podcast #072 - Bu$$
    From the port city of Thessaloniki in Greece, Bliq label boss Bu$$ (or "Budollars") takes to the Avenue Red podcast with his vision of deep, brooding, abstract Techno, Electro & IDM sounds. Since Bu$$ and Manos Mara co-founded the label with a release by London boys Homepark back in 2010, Bliq has established itself as a solid platform for all kinds of deep electronic music, sometimes straying into pretty warped, leftfield territory.
    This mix is just tantalizing and pretty freaky all round... picture a sountrack to exploring the vast surface plains of Jupiter, then travelling into the unknown depths to check it all out in some kind of autonomous immunity suit - this could probably be that soundtrack. Given, that's a pretty oddball reference point, but for music like this it's completely appropriate. Dive into this - see you on the other side.
    "I was asked by Avenue Red a while ago to do a podcast for the series and it seems that I finally did it (Alec apologies for the delay). It's a selection from different styles, released and unreleased music that I choose especially for this podcast in order to create the mood that I would like to present to the Avenue Red audience. I hope you have a good time while listening to this mix & appreciate for this invitation, Peace out!" Costis Budolas, September 2016

    Franc "Disco" Velours from Avignon in southern France lays down nearly 100 minutes of smooth, summery, mellow Disco tunes. Franc is well known in his region as an in-demand DJ with a great box of tricks. We really like his sounds - be sure to check out his Soundcloud page if you get thirsty for more!
    "This podcast is a good representation of the style that I appreciate, variations of the tropical groove and funky rhythm, complete in time to finish the summer smoothly. Thanks to Avenue Red for the invitation." Franc Velours, August 2016

  • Avenue Red Podcast #070.2 - Gusev
    Gusev closes his Avenue Red account for #070 with an old mixtape of Jungle/Drum & Bass cuts from 1995-1998...
    "Hello friends, this mix was recorded a couple of years ago and is created from classic jungle tracks from years 1995-1998. From my point of view it was the best era for jungle music. In Saint Petersburg, Russia where I grew up in the 90's, the jungle scene was very powerful, active and exciting. Back then, this buzz rubbed off onto me as I was listening to a lot of quality jungle music that has heavily influenced my musical tastes of today.
    A lot of tracks are known to me since I recorded radio broadcasts on cassettes. I'm sad that this music is currently under-estimated, overlooked and largely forgotten. From my point of view jungle music is very unique, powerful and energetic. Hopefully you will like this music as much as I do. I'm curious for your feedback." Dmitry Gusev, August 2016

  • Avenue Red Podcast #070.1 - Gusev
    Dmitry Gusev is back again with an old Deep House mixtape from years gone by...
    "Hi friends, today I want to share with you my mix that I created one winter's night some years ago. This mix was created spontaneously, using tracks from some true masters of House including Nick Holder, DJ Deep, Rob Mello, Gene Hunt, Atjazz, Move D and others. I liked how at the end all tracks fitted together to make something I was happy to listen back to myself, but until now it has remained unpublished. Hopefully this mix will be a good accompaniment for your evening with a glass of wine or afterparty at Home with Friends. Enjoy :)" Dmitry Gusev, August 2016

  • Avenue Red Podcast #070 - Gusev
    Russian-German selector Dmitry Gusev takes us back to the basics of true House music with a stellar set of classic, melodic, vocal-driven tracks from the underground of yesteryear.
    "Hi, everyone! The idea of this Avenue Red mix came to me after one of the great evenings in Panorama Bar. I was thinking about what kind of music I would choose to play in this place if given the chance myself. I figured that the music should be melodic but with strong, pulsing energy. So, inspired by these thoughts I selected from my collection a set of House music from the late 80's to the middle of 90's, using a lot of classical tracks I have loved since they first appeared. Only one track in this mix was produced in 2015. This mix was recorded vinyl only. Hopefully you will like it. Enjoy!" Dmitry Gusev, August 2016

  • Avenue Red Podcast #069 - Alessandro Crimi
    Continuing with our theme of chilled summery vibes we welcome back Avenue Red resident and Waehlscheibe label boss Alessandro Crimi, as he delivers his own self-proclaimed "timeless summer soundtrack".
    "For me this is a personal summer soundtrack, but not just for 2016. This is a choice selection of old, timeless favourite cuts that bring back memories of hot, sunny days and really set the scene. There was only room for a 2 or 3 newer tracks on this one. In the beginning the mood is from a nice summer afternoon, later I imagine that it's getting slowly dark outside, until the sun goes up again (last 2 tracks).
    My next gigs in the pipeline are:
    13-08-2016 :: Frieda's Büxe (Zürich, Switzerland)
    27-08-2016 :: ROOFTOP (Konstanz, Germany)
    01-10-2016 :: TBA (London, UK)
    I hope you dig the mood and feel the heat! :)" Alessandro Crimi, July 2016

  • Avenue Red Podcast #068 - Rob Moller
    Newcastle DJ Rob Moller returns to the Avenue Red Podcast for his second mix in the series. Here he delivers a sublime summer holiday soundtrack layered with lots of obscure, melodic House & Disco tunes.
    "I made this mix with a summer holiday in mind... think breezy bongos, piña colada pianos and smooth sax at tropical tempos. It's not so much of a serious selection, it's more intended to be a light, fun, enjoyable mix of addictive tracks that I hope will transport your mind to sunnier climes, whether you're hitting the beach or not this summer! I advise listening with shades on ;)" Rob Moller, July 2016
