Awards Radar: The Podcast episodes

  • 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' and 'Power Ballad' + Some Cannes Award Speculation

For episode 291, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmy season content and, of course, TV Topics. Programming note: while this episode is a normal one, next week's episode is being recorded right around this one and won't reflect anything that happens this weekend or next week. Just keep that in mind. As for this one, we spend a bit of time talking about Star Wars, since my review (here) of The Mandalorian and Grogu went up a few days ago. I also give my thoughts on Power Ballad, while Myles chimes in on The Sheep Detectives. Throw in your questions, as well as some late chatter about the actors rumored to be auditioning for James Bond, and it's a very solid episode. Apologies for my voice, as there's some seasonal allergies at play, but we work around it, for you. You're welcome, folks (I kid).

  • Conan O'Brien Returning as Oscar Host, Tackle New Releases, and Answer Questions - #290

For episode 290, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmys and TV Topics. This time around, we've got Oscar news in Conan O'Brien returning to host the Academy Awards, as well as more on the rule changes AMPAS has instituted. Some of your questions factor into those rules as well, alongside one that leads us back to talk about Ari Aster's Eddington (my review is here, while my interview with Aster is here), with Myles having just caught up with the film. I also talk about two new release movies, which are Driver's Ed (reviewed here and interview with director Bobby Farrelly here) and Obsession (reviewed here). We tackle plenty on this episode, so strap in...

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 290th one to date (here’s to many more). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. More to come each and every single week, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for listening!

  • Academy Rule Changes, New Trailers, and the 'Mortal Kombat' Franchise - #289

For episode 289, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmys and TV Topics. This episode, we get into the recent rule changes by the Academy, especially in terms of the Acting and International Feature categories. We also talk Mortal Kombat as a franchise, since I've seen the newest installment, Mortal Kombat II (reviewed here). Throw in a game and more of your questions, stir it all up, and it's a very solid new episode...

  • Taking Questions Before Delving into the Puzzling New Version of 'Animal Farm' - #288

For episode 288, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmys and TV Topics. This time around, we're talking about Andy Serkis' absolutely baffling take on Animal Farm (reviewed here), as well as double back on The Running Man (reviewed here) now that Myles has caught up on the latter. We also tackle your questions, as well as play some more of the IMDb game. It's an efficient little episode, but a good one in my book...

  • Some Games Before Discussing the Concept of the 'Michael' Movie - #287

For episode 287, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes on Emmys and TV Topics. This episode ends up being a bit freestyle, as the topics just sort of come to us. There's some games, both old and new, as well as some final CinemaCon chatter. However, a question regarding Michael Jackson and the Michael movie leads to an extended conversation. Neither of us have seen or intend to see the film, but musical biopics, and especially this one, get discussed. We also talk a bit about Exit 8 (reviewed here) now that Myles has seen it. Throw in a few other questions, as well as a video game related ending, and we get to more than you might expect, given the open-ended nature of the episode.

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 287th one to date (here’s to many more). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. • #286: Joey and Myles Go Over Some of the CinemaCon 2026 Highlights

For episode 286, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes. This time around, we're looking at some of the CinemaCon 2026 announcements that captured our attention most. So, within you'll hear what we're excited about, as well as a bit about what we're less than enthused about. Additionally, Myles caught up on Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice (my review is here) and Pizza Movie, while I chimed in on Exit 8 (reviewed here), Mother Mary (reviewed here), and Normal (reviewed here earlier today). Throw in your questions and we get to plenty here, that's for sure...

  • #285: The Work of Hideo Kojima, Faces of Death' & Video Games

For episode 285, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes. We recorded this episode last week, due to my vacation and Myles' show, so it's not the timeliest of topics, but we still have some good stuff. There's some chatter about the new Faces of Death film (reviewed by yours truly here), though the bulk of our time is spent on Hideo Kojima, the legendary video game designer. We teased a periodic "Kojima Korner" segment months ago, so here it is, in all its strange glory. Between the Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid franchises, there's a ton to cover.

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 285th one to date (here’s to many more). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. • #284: 'The Drama' + 'The Super Mario Galaxy Movie' + A New Segment

For episode 284, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes. This episode is a bit shorter than usual, and we're especially exhausted, but we still stumble upon a fun new segment that will be coming up in a few episodes. You'll have to listen to learn what it is, but it's an enjoyable way to keep things Oscar related in the offseason, which is a plus. Besides that, Myles has caught up with Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (my review is here), so we chat about that, while I report back on both The Drama (reviewed here) and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (reviewed here). Throw in your questions and we more than the make the most of our time...

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 284th one to date (here’s to many more). • #283: Looking Back on Old Oscar Predictions & a Further 'Project Hail Mary' Conversation

For episode 283, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes. This time around, Myles has seen Project Hail Mary, so we have a substantial discussion about that one. I've already been clear about my love of it, both on a prior episode of the show, as well in my rave review here, but now we get to go back and forth about it. I also give my thoughts on They Will Kill You (reviewed here), which is a lot of fun. Awards-wise, we look back on my year in advance Oscar picks from last year (here), as my predictions for next year begin to drop tomorrow. Throw in your questions and we get around to a lot here, that's for sure...

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 283rd one to date (here’s to many more). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms. • #282: Recapping the 98th Oscars! + 'Ready or Not 2'

For episode 282, I’m joined once again by my co-host Myles Hughes, with producer Steve Prusakowski working behind the scenes. The 98th Oscars are in the books, so we're recapping the winners, our thoughts, and more. I've been writing about it all week, including the path Paul Thomas Anderson and One Battle After Another took to win Best Picture (here), but this is our first conversation about how the Academy Awards went down. We also discuss Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (reviewed here), as well as take your questions. It all adds up to a strong episode as we end another season of the podcast. Luckily, a new one begins next week...

As always my friends and faithful listeners/readers, I do hope you all enjoy the latest episode of the Awards Radar Podcast, our 282nd one to date (here’s to many more). Of course, feel free to revisit the previous installments by clicking the Podcast tab (here) on the top of the page. Plus, listen to us on Apple Podcasts (iTunes), Spotify, and other platforms.
