According to Ayurveda we ideally eat 3 meals a day without snacking. The reason is we want to consume whole and complete nourishing meals which satisfy our hunger completely until our next meal. If you do become hungry for a snack, the general rule of thumb is to eat something light simply to hold you over until your next meal.
Generally speaking, the best snack available is fresh fruit. Fruit is cooked by nature and we evolved to eat it. It’s sweet, nourishing, and comes packed with the fiber we need to digest and absorb it. Moreover it is digested quickly thus it serves perfectly the desire to satiate your hunger now and still be hungry for your next meal.
These are my favorite “ready to eat foods” and can even be mixed with things like rice, bread, or oatmeal to make a quick meal.
Ready to eat foods
* Fresh fruit
* Dates
* Raisins
* sunflower seeds
* dry roasted nuts (nuts are heavy, oily, energeizing, nourishing, and also hard to digest - thus the general rule is nuts in moderation)
