  • What You Don't Know About Our Relationship (feat. Ash)

    Welcome back, BP Nation!

On this episode, Ash and I sit down to discuss our relationship. Oh shit! Sounds serious, right?

Don't worry, this isn't going to turn into a couple's therapy session or anything like that. We simply wanted to share our experiences and the lessons we've learned along the way.

Although we work, live, and train together, you do NOT need to do any of that with your spouse or significant other in order to relate. Nearly every couple out there will be able to connect on some level!

If you like what you hear, please leave a review and share the episode on your favorite platforms!

We love and appreciate ya'll so much!

  • You'll Never Guess What Happened! (feat. Ash)

On this episode of BPR, Ash and I sit down to share some incredibly EXCITING news with ya'll!

Over the past week, we've received tons of DMs and texts surrounding the announcement. Some of ya'll thought we were having a baby, some thought we were moving, and others thought it was merely a new program.

In reality, the news is more awesome than all of those things combined!

Ash and I have quit our day jobs to pursue Ballistic full-time!

    How freaking amazing is that?!

We are beyond excited to share the news, as well as reflect on the past 1.5 years of building the brand - the good, the bad, and the ugly.

    Enjoy the episode, ya'll!

  • What is the CrossFit Open? (feat. Ash)

On this episode of BPR, Ash and I sit down to discuss the Crossfit Open. Many of you listening to this podcast either come from the CrossFit realm or you have friends, family, co-workers, etc. that will not STFU about CrossFit. • Denise Thomas | CrossFit, Coaching, and New Beginnings

On this episode of BPR, I sit down with Denise Thomas. I met Denise back in 2013 while interning at Reebok CrossFit ONE in Canton, MA. She has been an incredible mentor and inspiration throughout my career and I'm incredibly excited to share the conversation with ya'll.

Denise has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years, and has coached in a multitude of sporting arenas and disciplines. Denise is a long-time member of CrossFit Seminar Staff (~10years) and Coaches Development Program, former Head Coach at Reebok CrossFit ONE, founder of DTLP (Denise Thomas Lesson Plans), and the NEWEST member of the CompTrain/CrossFit New England staff.

  • Metcons, No Bulls, or Nanos? (feat. Ash)

On this episode, Ash and I sit down to expand upon a topic we covered in a recent Instagram post, training shoes. We answer all of your burning questions:

Do you even need CrossFit/Functional training shoes?

Should you buy Metcons or Nanos?

Do you need CrossFit shoes and running shoes?

Are Olympic weightlifting shoes worth the investment?

    Etc.

As a disclaimer, we are by no means shoe experts (far from it), but we have been doing this quite awhile and we thought it would be beneficial to share our opinions and experiences.

We hope ya'll enjoy the episode! If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or even ideas for future episodes, DO NOT hesitate to reach out - send us a DM, shoot us an email, or give us a call! We'd LOVE to hear from you!

  • How Long Does It Take to See Results? (feat. Ash)

    Welcome back to BPR!

On this episode, Ash and I sit down to discuss how long it takes to see results. It’s a question that everyone wants to know when entering into any type of health, fitness, or nutrition program.

We live in a world that is addicted to instant gratification and lofty expectations. Therefore, it's essential that we engage in these types of conversations and develop a greater understanding of EXACTLY what's required to achieve results and how set appropriate and realistic expectations.

If you enjoy what you hear, share the episode with a friend and leave us a five-star review! That's how we reach more people and change more lives through this platform!

  • Ballistic Biographies: Danielle Kepics

Episode 67 is the first installment of our new series: Ballistic Biographies.

The purpose of this series is to highlight and showcase our members' experiences: the highs and lows, setbacks, detours, failures, and success.

On this episode, Ash is taking over! That's right, Ash is running the show and she's sitting down with our good friend, Danielle Kepics. This is Danielle's FOURTH time on the show (check out our previous conversations with her on episodes 58, 44, 22).

    Topics of discussion include:

    • Health and/or fitness prior to starting Ballistic Performance.
    • The relationship between health and quality of life.
    • The impact of 1:1 nutrition and MOVE, BUILD, and CUSTOM.
    • The most helpful from the program that has led to your success.
    • Skepticism around joining the Ballistic team.
    • Why she decided to join.
    • Who she believes would benefit from the Ballistic programs.

  • The Pillars of Health: Habits and Behaviors Lead to Greater Quality of Life (feat. Ash)

On this episode, Ash and I sit down to discuss the "Pillars of Health" and the habits/behaviors that not only reinforce those pillars, but ultimately lead to greater quality of life. Now, as a disclaimer, we did not coin the phrase, "Pillars of Health," and we are by no means the first to discuss this topic, but it's so incredibly important and quite frankly, invaluable to your health, fitness, and nutrition journey.

We really hope that you enjoy the podcast! If you have any specific questions, or would like to suggest a specific topic for future episodes, please do not hesitate to reach out via email, DM, or even phone (yes, we will pick up if you call) - we would love to hear from you!

  • Derrick's Evolution: Mindset, Training, and Identity (feat. Ash)

On this episode, Ash and I sit down to reflect on my journey as an athlete, coach, and individual over the past 12-13 years. In that time, my mindset has evolved, my perspective and why for training have completely transformed, and honestly, my entire identity has changed.

We thought it would be interesting to chat about that entire experience, as well as any other tangents and rabbit holes we fall into along the way.

We really hope that you enjoy the episode and that you're able to take something with you to move you forward on your health and fitness journey.

Lastly, we apologize for the audio quality - obviously we experienced some technical difficulties.

  • Why You Need to STOP Chasing Trends (feat. Ash)

On this episode, Ash and I sit down to discuss why you need to stop chasing the trends. What do we mean? Well, there's an entire laundry list of trends in the fitness and nutrition space that are restrictive, ineffective, and downright ridiculous for the majority of the population:

    • Juice cleanses and detoxes
    • Fad diets (e.g. keto, intermittent fasting, carnivore)
    • Six-week challenges and 30-day shreds
    • Mini bands
    • HIIT Bodybuilding
    • Etc.

Trends are attractive because they have fixed durations and produce result, but the results are NOT due to the specific food choices or exercises. The results are due to improved food quality, restricted quantity, and increased activity.

We need to adopt a new perspective, we need to embrace patience and simplicity, and we need to place greater value on mastering the fundamentals and building the basics.
