Interview with James Sykes, CEO of Baselode Energy (TSX-V: FIND)
Baselode Energy is the newest uranium story in a flood of new entrants coming unto the market with the intention of profiting off the incoming uranium bull market. It is located near to the most desirable uranium location of all, the high-grade Athabasca Basin. Several members on the Baselode Energy team have decent track records; Sykes, a structural engineer, has 10-years of Athabasca Basin uranium exploration and discovery experience and discovered the well known Arrow deposit for NexGen Energy. He's smart, young, energetic and enthusiastic to get Baselode Energy ground.
Baselode Energy has something of an unconventional thesis and strategy when it comes to uranium mining, and Sykes is looking for the types of deposits that would allow him to take his company into production.
Interestingly, despite having worked in the Athabasca Basin for so long, he has his doubts about its ability to be mined, hence choosing an asset just outside the basin. Not sure his thesis is going to make Sykes popular with investors in other uranium companies, but we have not been able to get a response from some of those uranium juniors to discuss it. Worth investigating or just another junior CEO talking his play book? Let us know what you think.
