Batting Around Podcast

Defector's David Roth is back for a third time as we try to stay positive about the this postseason, taking the redbird pill, the prose of Kyle Schwarber, nightmare scenarios, player nicknames, and how Steve Cohen is feeling about his life. As with all Roth episodes, this one is absolutely not to be missed.

Stephen gets stuck in the Wade Boggs statue at The Trop', the "Sister Cities" plan, Rays/Jays scandal, Joe West retiring?, a bad piece about Jeff Luehnow. Oh also this is our 50th episode which is pretty neat.

We try to figure out what's behind the Cardinals' September run at the wildcard and determine how they're doing it. Lauren of course gives a well researched, scientific, and rational explanation while Jane and Stephen blame God and magic. We also discuss Philly Twitter Sports Psychosis, some minor leaguers taking a stand against their poor compensation, and plenty of other stuff in the mailbag. This is one of the funnier ones we've done in a while.

We capitalize on the Tipping Pitches bump by talking about not caring about the Hall of Fame, caring very much about the AL wild card hunt, and what Star Trek characters fuck. Sorry.

It's just Jane and Lauren this time. Talking about being trans at the ballpark, Ted Lasso, a little bit of baseball talk I guess, then some mailbag.

Lauren's back and of course we're talking about the goddamn Mets again. Then we try to lay out the state of the playoff races going into September, but all of us are fucked up from various maladies (Lauren got surgery, Jane doing backbreaking labor, and Stephen playing a schoolyard game).

Lauren is recovering so her wonderful sister, Mellie, fills her shoes. Listen in as three idiots try to sound like they know about baseball when the smart one isn't around. Topics include Miggy's 500th home run, NL wildcard race, bummer Jays, annoying Yankees, and CBA developments. Then we get into a really fun mailbag that goes off the rails in the best way. This isn't one to miss!

Stephen is happy about the Phillies for the first time since we started the show, Mets lol, unholy unions and MLB being shit yet again, and X-Men baseball discussion.
