California is getting into the Insulin business, as Governor Newsom unveiled the state's new agreement to offer vials for as low as $30 dollars today. Today is the annual Transit Worker Appreciation Day; it’s a chance for Bay Area residents to say thank you to all the people that keep  public transit systems moving.

March Madness is heating up with plenty of second round choas. As teams battle to get to the sweet sixteen and your bracket is probably in the trash at this point, three of the top five schools fell victim to upsets. Farleigh Dickinson took down the top seed, Purdue. This is just the second time in men's tournament history that the sixteenth seed beat a one seed, not to mention Princeton's improbable win over powerhouse Arizona.

Good morning, today your anchor Jennifer Hodges walks us through what's happening. Governor Gavin Newsom has plans to turn San Quentin, California's oldest state prison, into a rehabilitation center. An expert on criminal justice is cautiously optimistic that a plan by Governor Gavin Newsom to transform San Quentin Prison can be successful. A San Francisco taxi company is offering free, late night rides to hospitality workers.

As we've been hearing this morning, former President Donald Trump is taking to his Truth Social platform and claiming that he'll be arrested on Tuesday. He is calling on his 'supporters' to protest all in response to the possibility of an indictment coming against him next week.

At the Orinda Bart station this morning state senator Steve Glazer held a press conference with the outgoing inspector general who’s leaving the agency after three years of service. San Jose’s official rain totals have been a bit lighter than expected so far this year, which has less to do with the weather and more on how they measure it. For hundreds of homeowners whose property burned to the ground as a result of the CZU wildfire, the process to get a permit to rebuild has been anything but easy. A new study that examines recent job postings has revealed that in San Francisco hybrid work spaces is the new normal.

 One Florida professor is shacking up under the sea, hoping that a record amount of time under the ocean, 100 days, will give him some scientific insights. For more on this, our afternoon anchors Brett Burkhart and Patti Reising spoke with Professor Joe Dituri, also known on social media as Dr. Deepsea, who is currently way below sea level.

While there’s no timeline for when residents of Pajaro will be able to return home, KCBS Radio's Jennifer Hodges reports that some evacuation orders in the flood ravaged North Monterey county have been lifted. Repair work continues on that badly damaged levee in Monterey, other parts of California have also suffered levee breaks, and residents have been getting creative to repair them.

Getting into San Francisco has been real headache this morning - several lanes on the upper deck of the Bay Bridge were shut down for hours overnight due to a person in distress and a double fatal collision. Governor Newsom will kick off his statewide policy tour today with some big ideas to tackle California's housing crisis. Bay Area air quality regulators have voted to adopt rules to phase out the sale and installation of natural gas furnaces and water heaters over the next eight years - and replace them with electric alternatives. Tuesday's windstorm felled an untold number of trees across the Bay Area, damaging homes and vehicles, blocking roads, highways, even railroad tracks. In one case, an eighty year old Sebastopol woman just barely missed being struck by a huge bay tree.

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is speaking this morning in front of the Senate Finance Committee nearly one week after Silicon Valley Bank collapsed, the second-largest bank collapse in U.S. history. Although Secretary Yellen says the nation's banking system as a whole remains quote "sound" Silicon Valley Bank was a big financial resource for local startups. To learn more about how local start ups are coping with the bank collapse, our morning anchors Eric Thomas and Margie Shafer spoke with Joe Desimone - Stanford professor who has founded multiple startups.

Residents in Pajaro in Monterey County are still waiting for answers after being displaced by flooding due to a burst in the levee along the Pajaro River, Governor Newsom toured the area today.  The power is still out for tens of thousands of people around the Bay Area, PG&E crews are working hard to clean up and restringing power lines. For the first time in nearly four years, the Army Corps of Engineers will conduct flood control releases at Lake Sonoma after all the recent rains. Following yesterday's intense windstorm that caused a big rig and other vehicles to overturn on the Richmond - San Rafael Bridge, there are questions about whether the span should be closed to high profile vehicles during high winds.

San Mateo County schools are taking on the heavyweights of social media. The county superintendent of schools is suing the companies that run TikTok, YouTube, and SnapChat for knowingly contributing to the current mental health crisis in young people. We're finally drying out for a few days after a string of atmospheric river storms pummeled the Bay Area and on one State Assemblyman's wants to study those storms for their impact on our water supply. An airline pilot who writes a blog on aviation issues wants the public to know that flying is still the safest way to travel, despite recent close calls in the news.  

Its expensive to buy formal wear for prom.  And some young ladies and gentlemen from Marin County can't afford to dress for the occasion, but volunteers from the community are coming to the rescue with a prom pop-up shop. A san Jose middle schooler is recovering after being stabbed inside his 7th grade classroom this afternoon by a fellow student.  

Clean up crews are chopping up dozens of downed trees that blew over in the high wind storm, some residents are asking cities to be more proactive in identifying trees that pose a danger. Tahoe ski and snow resorts are digging out after another round of heavy snow, chairlifts at most resorts are up and running again.
