  • 137. Lightning Show: a bedtime story and meditation
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Lightning Show” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

James enjoys the lightning show until he notices his big sister, Julia, is afraid of thunderstorms. Will he be able to help her out?

    Narrator: Male
    Lightning Show Excerpt:
James and Julia were playing ball outside when the skies grew dark.  A clap of thunder echoed across the land as lightning flashed through the grey clouds, announcing the arrival of the rain.  It poured down, as James and Julia ran into the house.  James peered out the window, excited to watch  the light show in the sky.

    “Wow, can you believe this!”

James loved thunderstorms.  Though he usually disliked loud sounds, there was something about thunder.  He loved the way it rumbled.  And the lightning!  It could flash across the sky, or strike the ground with a bright burst of light.  Sometimes it was even red!  Looking outside, he smiled widely. Then James noticed something in the reflection of the window.  His sister was under the desk, holding her knees up to her chest and looking miserable.

    “Julia, what’s wrong?” he asked.

“It’s a very big storm, James,” she said, feeling a bit scared.  “How are you feeling? Usually you hide from loud noises.  I’m amazed you’re actually excited.”

  • 403. Bird Bath: a relaxation and story for your nap time routine
The summer weather is hot and dry, and the neighborhood birds are thirsty!

    Narrator: Male

    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 6:52
    Bird Bath Excerpt:
The ground was dry – very, very dry. It hadn’t rained in several weeks; actually Carrie the Cardinal couldn’t exactly remember the last time it had rained. Grass had changed from green to brown. The temperatures were very high, and the whole earth felt parched.

Nevertheless, the little bird admitted to herself, the world was still very beautiful. Trees were green, including the beautiful maple tree in which she had built her nest. Flowers bloomed. The sun shone dazzlingly bright. The sky was deep blue, with a few scattered clouds, bright and white, high in the sky. Whether she was sitting in a tree or flying in the air, Carrie always enjoyed cloud-watching, imaging that she saw pictures formed by the shape of the clouds. But these clouds were very high and far away, and Carrie knew that no rain would come from those clouds for a long time.

Carrie was thirsty and was feeling a tired from the heat. She knew if she flew a long distance, she could find some water – she knew there was a big pond in a nearby neighborhood. But it would take her a while to get there, and she just didn’t feel like she had enough energy. She needed water for energy – but she couldn’t get water without having energy first! What was she going to do?
Today’s Meditation: Feel your body fill with warmth and love as you send your loving energy to the world.

Donna the domino is playing a new game. Will she set off a chain reaction of fun?
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Please enjoy “Chain Reaction" and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Female
    Chain Reaction Excerpt:
Donna Domino felt calm in the peace and quiet of the dark container. She wondered when she would be part of another game. The little black domino enjoyed playing. She never knew who she would be next to. She did know that she would always be next to two dominoes that had three dots on at least one side. Donna was a double three and proud. As she wondered, a bit of light slipped through the edges of the box. The little black domino hoped that it was time to play a game. The lid was peeled off quickly and light poured into the box. All the dominoes blinked, getting accustomed to the sudden change in light. Donna felt excited as she waited for the container to be tipped over, freeing all the dominoes. However, this time all the dominoes stayed in the box, and the little girl gently took one out at a time.

  • 404. Bunny Playground: a bedtime meditation and story
Betty Bunny's morning routine is a little different today. What could her special Human friend Max be doing?

    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:53

    Narrator: Male
    Bunny Playground Excerpt:
Betty Bunny woke up slowly. She yawned. She lifted her head and looked out the nearby window. It was cloudy and a little windy outside. Betty Bunny thought to herself, “Maybe the sun wanted to stay in bed today.  I hope it feels OK!”

The little bunny stood up on her hind legs to see if she could see any glimpse of a sunbeam.  Suddenly, the clouds moved apart, pushed by the wind, and a little glimmer of sun flickered down and kissed Betty Bunny on the nose.

“Oh good! My sunshine was just resting!” Betty thought, smiling.

Feeling grateful for the bit of sun, Betty went back to quietly eating her hay.  The hay was delicious and she was happy to have it, but she usually ate fresh parsley for breakfast and she wondered why she hadn’t gotten any parsley yet today.  She also wondered why Max, her special Human friend, hadn’t played with her yet.  Something seemed different today.

Manny the motor boat gently tows people behind on a tube. Everyone is excited for their boating adventures!
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Boating Adventures” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Narrator: Male
    Forest Friends Excerpt:
Manny gently tugged the tube out into the lake, noticing how well the person held on. When the little motorboat was sure the person was comfortable, he went a little bit faster. There was a shriek of delight as Manny’s speed increased a little bit more. All the people in the boat turned to watch their friend hanging onto the tube. Everything seemed pretty safe so the little motorboat went a tiny bit faster, …then faster, …and even faster still. Now everyone in the boat was cheering, encouraging their friend to hang on! Manny smiled as he heard the laughter and supportive yells. Everyone was having a great time. Ahead Manny spotted some waves made by a larger boat. With a mischievous grin, the little motor boat decided to cross the waves. He went up and down rolling over the top of the swells. The people in the boat laughed as they gently rolled, watching the person on the tube. The tube had bounced up and landed on the lake, and that person laughed and laughed. Manny smiled, glad everyone was having such fun, and slowed down a bit. He knew it was harder to hold on when you are laughing so hard. In fact, it sounded like the people wanted to switch tube riders. Usually when the little motorboat took the people out they took turns on the tube, so he was prepared for a change.

  • 402. Tumbling Tabby: a story and meditation for your bedtime routine
Grubby Kitty discovers packing peanuts — and makes a mess! But Dad is very patient.

    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:18

    Narrator: Male
    Tumbling Tabby Excerpt:
The afternoon sun poured through the big kitchen window onto the shelf placed under the window. The shelf was covered with some pretty fabric with flowers on it; Mom had put the fabric on the shelf to protect the shelf from scratches, but Grubby Kitty liked to think that she had put it there just for him, because it made a very cozy place to sleep. Grubby Kitty had discovered this wonderful napping location quite recently, and so this afternoon, like every other afternoon for the last two weeks, Grubby was curled up on the fabric, taking a nap in the warmth of the sun.

But suddenly, ding-dong! The front doorbell rang. Grubby woke up with a shake. From the other room, he heard Dad walk to the door, open it, and shout out “thank you!” Grubby was a little startled at first, as he had been deeply asleep and the noise surprised him. But he took a couple of big Dragon Breaths and felt much better. He stretched and yawned. Now he was wide awake and felt like exploring. Who had been at the door?

  • 134. Munching Lunch: a calming meditation and story
Marley the monarch caterpillar wakes up and she is hungry. As she is munching her lunch Marley meets a friend. Will there be enough milkweed for both of them?

    Narrator: Female
    Munching Lunch Excerpt:
Fluffy clouds covered the sky like a thick blanket, as the itty bitty caterpillar stretched and crawled out of the tiny egg.  Marley’s tummy grumbled loudly.  It was time to eat.  The little monarch caterpillar took a little nibble from the bright green leaf.  It certainly was yummy!  Num, num, num, num, num.  Marley nibbled and crunched the milkweed leaf.  Slowly a hole developed in the leaf. And still the caterpillar ate and ate.  Marley was growing and the milkweed gave her just what she needed.

The tiny caterpillar tried to watch what was happening around her. However, the milkweed was so delicious she lost track of anything but the juicy leaf.  Marley nibbled and crunched until “Ow!”  she looked up.  There was another monarch caterpillar looking at her and rubbing his head with his feet.

“Oh I’m sorry!” Marley said. “I was so busy eating I didn’t notice you.  Are you OK?”

Ballet Bunny hops around the forest to find the new spring flowers. She encounters Dragon and kids, who ask Ballet what she's doing!

    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:45

    Narrator: Female
    Fragrant Flowers Excerpt:
Ballet Bunny stretched and hopped out of her nest after a refreshing afternoon nap. She was ready to explore the forest and see what new plants were waking up today. The little bunny loved springtime. Already Ballet had found daffodils, tulips and irises coloring people’s lawns at the edge of the forest. The little bunny stopped cleaning her ears as she heard giggling in the distance and decided she would start today’s adventure by discovering the source of the laughter.

Ballet hopped through trees, bushes, and tall grasses stopping to listen for more giggles. The giggles grew louder and louder, as the little bunny hopped along. Ballet knew she was getting closer. Finally, Ballet hopped into a field of low grasses. She flattened herself down and looked around. As the little bunny scanned the field, she immediately recognized Dragon and sprinted over to her friend.

Hello everyone! We hope you enjoyed our new story this week. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Please enjoy “Dragon on Ice” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!

Dragon follows the train for another adventure. This time it's Dragon on ice as Dragon explores a mysterious snowy land. Will Dragon make a new friend there?

    Narrator: Male
    Dragon on Ice Excerpt:
The dragon gently landed on the white snow.  Brrrr! It was a bit cold, so the dragon decided to keep moving.  As the dragon took a step forward, all of a sudden, both feet slipped and the dragon flipped.  Snow flew up as the dragon landed belly side up.  Eyes wide from surprise, the dragon took a deep breath in and out and slowly stood back up.  This was a cold and slippery place.  The dragon extended talons to grip the ice.  Slowly and carefully the dragon trudged forward, occasionally slipping.  It was a lot of work, and the dragon’s feet were getting cold.  Then the dragon had an idea, and leaned over, and took a deep breath in and out, breathing fire on the ground.  Maybe that would warm things up.  The dragon also wondered what was underneath the ice and snow.  With another deep breath in and out the dragon admired how easily the snow and ice melted away.

    Something Nice Excerpt:
Tanner the Toad noticed his friend among the lavender blooms and happily hopped over. Once he reached a spot where Tad could see him, Tanner waved and said, “Good morning, Tad.”

Tad smiled at his friend and after reading the pleasant greeting off of his friend’s lips, he replied, “Morning, Tanner! I’m glad you’re up. It’s such a nice day and I’m glad I can share it with my kindest and most adventurous friend.”

Tanner blushed at the compliment, and then added, “and I am looking forward to another adventure with my best friend. What did you have in mind for today?”

Tad finished reading what Tanner had said, then a twinkle sparkled in his eye as he responded, “I want to share something nice with everyone in the forest!”

Tanner smiled and nodded. He thought Tad’s idea was a good one. The two toads continued hopping along their favorite path. Soon they met a friend. George the Turtle slowly wandered toward the toads.
