  • Dragon Adventure: a short story and meditation
Ready for a Dragon adventure? Today Dragon follows the sparkling train to the beach and meets some new friends in the soft warm sand.
Welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Dragon Adventure,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:59

    Narrator: Female
    Dragon Adventure Story Excerpt:
Wondering if the train would come back, the dragon decided to relax on the beach and wait.    Landing on the soft warm sand, the dragon sighed happily.  This would be a wonderful spot to rest.  The dragon, tucking toes into the cozy sand, settled in.  In the meantime, the dragon listened to the waves crashing on the sand, and looked around at the peaceful beach.  There was something blue in the sand.  Puzzled, the dragon reached over and pulled it out.  It was a sand bucket, great for making castles.  The bucket smiled at the dragon and said, “Thanks! I thought I would be stuck there all night!  I’m Benji.  I haven’t seen you around before.”
Today's Meditation: Imagine floating in a tranquil pool, safe and relaxed, as the water rocks you gently.

  • Best Babysitter: a mindful children’s story
Tonight, James and Julia will have a babysitter. They hope the babysitter will follow their bedtime routine? Maybe they’ll even have a little fun.

    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:48

    Narrator: Male
    Best Babysitter Story Excerpt:
Fully absorbed in the suspense of his book it took a while for James to realize that his parents were acting a bit differently. Julia sat down next to him and asked. “Do you know what’s going on with mom and dad?” James looked up from his book and watched as their mom zipped from the kitchen, wrote a note on the counter, and then went back to the bedroom. Their dad ran into the laundry room and came out with a pair of socks.

“I don’t know. They seem like they’re in a hurry.” James said. Then he looked at Julia as they realized together, “They must be going out tonight!”

“Oh no!” James added as Julia said, “We must be getting a babysitter.”

“I don’t know why. I’m not a baby.” James said. He hopped off the couch and ran to see if he could convince their parents to change their minds. Julia followed right behind.

Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story “Surprise Gift” on Monday. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “A Cheerful Family,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 8:05

    A Cheerful Family Excerpt:
It would be a long drive, so Max tried to think of something to do.  “Why don’t we play the alphabet game?” he said.

“That sounds like fun!”  Mia replied.  And Max, Mia, their mom and dad, began looking for things that began with the letter A.  Mia found an airplane flying overhead, mom found an apple tree,  Max saw animals outside, and dad counted eight arms inside the car.  Once everyone had found something beginning with A, they went on to find something beginning with B.

Mom was first this time.  She found a bright red barn.  Mia proudly spotted a bicycle.  Dad saw a boat, as they crossed a long bridge over the water, and Max was excited when he saw a buffalo. Now it was time to find C things.  Dad quickly spotted cows in a field.  Max found a camp.  Mom pointed out all the cars on the road, and Mia managed to spot a cat sitting in the grassy field.  Max felt happy he had suggested a game that everyone was enjoying.

  • Surprise Gift: a relaxing kid’s story
Blanka the plush bunny is excited to be a surprise gift. As she is wrapped in colorful paper the fluffy yellow stuffed animal wonders who she will meet.

    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 7:53

    Narrator: Female
    Surprise Gift Excerpt:
All the brilliant colors reminded the soft bunny of a birthday party. The person briefly sat down and picked up the spool of bright blue ribbon. He rolled out a piece across the table and then cut the ribbon. He gently tied the sparkling ribbon in a bow around the toy bunny’s neck. Blanka loved the blue ribbon, it shimmered in the light.

The person left the table to retrieve something else. The toy bunny wondered what he was getting now. He came back with a cardboard box. The person gently picked up the soft bunny and placed her inside the box. Blanka looked around, her head and ears fully visible, above the edges of the box. This cardboard box was too small. The person lifted the toy bunny back out of the box and removed it from the table.

  • Where’s My Blanket: a guided meditation and story
Bliss the blanket gets a bath in the washing machine while the little girl plays. "Where's my blanket?" she wonders at bedtime. Will Bliss be dry in time?
Hello everyone!  We hope you enjoyed our new story “Sensory Delight” on Monday. Now, welcome to Favorite Friday! Sometimes we like to listen to our favorites again. Please enjoy “Where’s My Blanket,” and we’ll be back with a new story on Monday!
    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 6:29

    Narrator: Female

    Where’s My Blanket? Excerpt:
Sunlight warmed the little girl’s bed.  A grayish looking blanket, folded with love, was nestled up to a fluffy pillow.  It would be a while before the little girl returned from her first day at camp, so Bliss blanket had plenty of time to relax.  Just as she settled in, the little girl’s dad came in the room holding a laundry basket.

He picked the little blanket up and said, “We should have just enough time to get you clean.” The little blanket was usually with the little girl, whether she was sleeping or playing.  So Bliss had gotten a bit dingy.  She didn’t even know what color she had once been.  The blanket’s lace edges had been worn off long ago.  Now that the little girl was away, her dad had decided it was time for her blanket to be washed.  So Bliss rode along in the laundry basket, wondering what it would be like in the washing machine.
Today’s Meditation: Relax in the grass as you imagine sunlight warming you from head to toe.

  • Sensory Delight: a guided meditation and story
Winfield the Wheelchair and Brian experience sensory delight as they share beautiful colors, scents, and sounds with Javier.

    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 6:48

    Narrator: Male
    Sensory Delight Excerpt:
Brian and Winfield rolled forward onto the wide path towards the source of the soothing sounds. The families made their way down the path, taking their time and enjoying the beauty of all the plants. Up ahead Winfield spotted a dot of red zipping around the raised beds. As he rolled closer the wheelchair discovered that the zippy red dot was a hummingbird sipping nectar from some bright orange trumpet flowers. Their grass like leaves flowed over the edges of their raised bed. Winfield stopped so that Brian would have the opportunity to touch their leaves. As he held the leaves of the trumpet flowers, the little red hummingbird hovered directly in front of Brian. Javier gasped, impressed that the bird had flown so close to Brian. Brian giggled, happy to interact with the cheerful little hummingbird.

The little fluffy cloud drifted across the sky.  Claude smiled at the earth below him. He enjoyed bringing water to all the plants, animals, and people.  They seemed so refreshed and happy after a little rain, and Claude had been giving them plenty. For days, the little cloud had rained and rained.  Now, all the plants were a bright green, the lakes were full, and there were even plenty of puddles to splash in.  The little cloud listened to hear how the plants, animals, and people were doing.

The people grumbled as Claude drifted by, “I wish it would stop raining.” Claude was surprised and a little disappointed.  He thought the people would enjoy splashing in the puddles he had made.  The little cloud took a deep dragon breath, in and out (deep breath) and decided to see what the animals thought.

Five fascinating fish explore the night time sea away from their coral beds. What will they find tonight in the star lit waters?

    Final 3 Dragon Breaths: 9:21

    Narrator: Female

    Fascinating Fish Excerpt:
The five little fish swam away from their colorful coral beds. Fish One led the way through a maze of softly swaying sea plants. The five little fish peeked through the gentle leaves, curious to see who or what they would find today. A shadow floated over the five little fish and they looked up. The mysterious shape glided across the water without any flippers. Fish Two decided to get a closer look and zipped up towards the gentle shadow. Fish Two noticed the shadow had a ridge traveling along the underside of the shape, then zipped back to share the discovery with the others. “I’m not sure what it is yet. It might be a big fish. There’s a fin underneath.” Fish Two said.

Rogelio, Helen, and Brianna played tag for a while.  Each of them had a chance to be “it.”  Then they decided to have a drink of water and rest for a little bit.  As they rested, they chatted.  Helen and Brianna learned about Rogelio, and Rogelio learned about Helen and Brianna.  One of the things they learned about each other is that they all enjoyed being part of a play.  So they decided to put on a play.  First they needed to figure out what their play would be about.  Helen loved being outside so she thought the story should be about the forest, and the forest animals.  Brianna loved things that sparkled and shined, so she though the play should be about finding a precious jewel.  Rogelio liked imagining new and fantastic worlds so he wanted a play about a dragon.  The trio talked, each one explaining why their idea was the best.
