Join Karaleigh in an interview with the absolutely unstoppable Kendria Johnson.
Kendria is an author, teacher, coach, and superhuman who has overcome the unthinkable- including having a child at 14, years of burnout as a teacher that even led to hospitalization, and moving across the world. She learned how to be her own advocate and now teaches other teachers and administrators to do the same.
Favorite takeaways:
1. The truth of the matter is people will treat you the way you allow them to. If you don’t have that self-confidence, if your self worth is down on the floor, people will walk all over you and they will treat you as such.
2. Doing nothing is doing something. Sometimes that’s the only peace I get all week and you’re not going to disturb that.
3. Your problem with me is your problem. There are two problems that you have: not mine and yours, and it has nothing to do with me.
4. Instead of resisting change, I embrace it, because every time I embrace change I learn something new.
5. Make your own way. Make your own path. You don’t have to have some great example of someone who’s done it before. It’s possible to just do it anyway. Do it scared, do it however you have to do it, but go do it because it’s possible.
6. You should have your priorities in check all the time. Do not wait for someone to give them to you and don’t wait for someone to take them away from you. If you don’t have that in check, if that’s not always on the back of your mind, then the world will impede on all of them.
7. You are responsible for the journey that has been given to you. Time has been given to everybody, we have all been given the same measure of it- but what you do with it is up to you. So keep your values close to your heart, know your priorities, and most importantly, know your worth.
