Pat had an amazing conversation with his longtime friend Nick Garramone today where they talked about Coaching baseball from youth all the way though college and even Amateur Ball. They also talk about pushing their kids into sports/activities.

A big thing that both Pat and Nick agree on is that activities of any fashion are important. No matter if it's baseball or dancing.  Giving kids that sense of accomplishment at a young age only boosts their confidence to do bigger and better things in life.

They also talk about failure and how it is a necessary thing to fail to grow and to learn how to navigate in life when life get hard.

My only concern is that the ball is going to be popped by our dog at some time and I would bet some kids have already have had tears because their pet got to theirs.

Dan Leritz is from a small town in Northern Minnesota. He has had an 18 year teaching career teaching History and Social Studies. Through time and change he went from teaching in Western Minnesota to Kuwait. There has been many changes that Dan needed to be accustomed to. How to drive in a congested area, Living in a small apartment with his family and how to teach in a foreign country.
All of these things seemed hard at first but Dan has become very accustomed to the way of life in the middle east and, as of right now, enjoys where he is. How long term....He is unsure.

Pat and Alora have a very deep discussion that got a little off topic but was still good. Assessing yourself is a great way to find out what you are doing good and bad. But you have to be honest with yourself.  That alone takes time to learn that skill.

We also talk about confronting your parents. How do you do that? That is all about reading your parents. The only wrong way is starting off yelling. For me if either of kids were mad at me and started yelling at me I would shut down and not concern with myself with their feelings at all. Is that the best way to do that. Probably not, but thats my way.

You have to make your kids comfortable to know that they can talk to you which is tough but doable.

We also dig down about the word no and how that can hurt both parents and kids and owning up to your mistakes.

A lot of things discussed today but a lot of good discussion for you and your kids also.
