  • 64. Holistic Health Series | Part 4 - Movement | Making Our Lives a Moving Meditation

    Send us Fan Mail

Today's episode is Part 4 of a 7-part series on holistic health!

This series illustrates what it means to be beauty-full from the inside out and how to embody self-care as your most whole and authentic and radiant Self.

It truly is what I am so passionate about and I cannot wait to dive in deeper with you! (Stay tuned for more exciting opportunities coming!)

Today's pillar of health is Movement… but of course, this is not your typical conversation about exercise. This is mindful movement through the lens of self-care and Ayurveda.

This episode emphasizes the importance of viewing movement not just as a means to an end, but as a holistic practice that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit.

We talk about my own journey from viewing exercise as competition through sports, to trying to find where I fit in with fitness, to hating my body and feeling deep shame towards it after an abusive relationship, to ultimately re-discovering this vessel and establishing a healthy relationship with my body through gratitude and mindfulness.

I encourage movement from a place of play, rather than necessity… with the goal of vitality and longevity, not a number on a scale.

My hope is that you feel more supported in making your life a moving meditation after this episode.

  • 63. Holistic Health Series | Part 3 - Nutrition | Food as Medicine, Digesting Our Lives, & Honoring the Vessel

    Send us Fan Mail

Today's episode is Part 3 of a 7-part series on holistic health!

This series illustrates what it means to be beauty-full from the inside out and how to embody self-care as your most whole and authentic and radiant Self.

It truly is what I am so passionate about and I cannot wait to dive in deeper with you! (Stay tuned for more exciting opportunities coming!)

We are talking about nutrition… and my hope is that this episode widens your perspective on this topic.

We talk about the true meaning of digestion, and that it is not just about the physical process of the body breaking down food that we eat, but that it is a process at work constantly, as we take in life's experiences through our 5 senses.

We talk about our digestive fire, ways to strengthen it, and how to better show up as our most radiant, glowing, vital Self.

We discuss what it means to use food as medicine, as well as the 6 tastes recognized in Ayurveda and why it's important to eat the rainbow… not to be confused with a Skittles commercial telling you to taste the rainbow.

Most importantly, I hope that this episode can get you curious about changing the way that you look at your beauty-full body in the mirror, or in the shower. I hope this discussion calls you back home and reminds you of this powerful, perfect vessel that is carrying you, your Soul, through the world.

Today's episode is Part 2 of a 7-part series on holistic health!

This series illustrates what it means to be beauty-full from the inside out and how to embody self-care as your most whole and authentic and radiant Self.

It truly is what I am so passionate about and I cannot wait to dive in deeper with you! (Stay tuned for more exciting opportunities coming!)

It is an honor and a pleasure to be joined by Dr. Sheila Patel today, who is a board-certified family physician with a focus on integrative and lifestyle
medicine. She combines the wisdom of Ayurveda with the tools of modern medicine to help patients heal. I had the tremendous fortune of being mentored by Dr. Sheila while she was the Chief Medical Officer for Chopra Global for 4 years. She is certified as an instructor of Ayurveda, yoga, and meditation; and is currently serving as the Chief Medical Officer for The Gaja Collective where she is lead educator for the Chopra Ayurvedic health certification program and also teaches for Chopra meditation, yoga, and coaching certifications. Dr. Sheila also offers mentorship programs and retreats, she is a sought-after keynote speaker, she has served on the Clinical Research Team for the Chopra Foundation, with a commitment to bringing scientific validation to mind-body practices, and is the co-author of multiple publications on the subjects of meditation and Ayurveda. Speaking of, I am so excited to share that she has a new book coming out, which she co-authored, called Awakened Sleep, coming out in just a couple short weeks on October 28th, and you can pre-order now below! This book offers readers a pathway toward natural, restful sleep using Ayurvedic principles.

Dr. Sheila believes the best way to achieve wellness is to integrate all of the knowledge available to us, from modern conventional medicine as well as from traditional healing systems. Her hope is that by confirming the benefits of the practices and sharing that knowledge, more people will gain access to these life-enhancing techniques and learn how to implement them into their
lives for optimal mind-body-spirit wellbeing. I know that there will be so many gems you take away from today's convo!

  • 57. To Be Cringe is to Be Free

    Send us Fan Mail

This episode is about exploring the ways we downplay our passions, our talents, our gifts, our roles in this world, our skills. It’s not about having the perfect credentials to show off. It is letting how we show up today in those roles be a work in progress AND enough, simultaneously.

It’s about allowing ourselves to think differently, choose differently, change our minds about how we want to show up in the world and make today Day 1 of a new beginning.

You don’t owe an explanation to anyone.

It’s about finding more ease in being yourself.

It’s about remembering to look back at how far you’ve come on the continued and endless journey of personal growth.

To be cringe is to be free my beauty full loves.

  • 56. The Power of Choice - Crossing the Metaphorical Threshold

    Send us Fan Mail

    September is Self-Care Awareness Month!

Join me in today's kickoff episode of a September mini-series, discussing the difference between self-care and self-preservation.

If you are listening to this in real time, we just stepped into a new month of September - an energetic 9 month, in an energetic 9 year, approaching a full moon and total lunar eclipse this weekend: hello shakeups!

We may not be able to control the cosmos, but we can learn to flow with rhythm of life... and one way to do this is through expanded awareness and remembering that we ALWAYS possess the power of choice.

We are holding hands approaching this threshold - an ending and a new beginning. What lies on the other side of you fully choosing your Self? Your full-body yes?

    Send us Fan Mail

I have Usher's "Burn" song playing in my head as I am readying this episode for publishing.

Let it burn, baby. That sacred fiery righteous rage.

Sure, self-care is bubble baths and spa days... but this episode really highlights what I mean when I talk about true self-care - true beauty-fullness, from the inside out.

This episode says: no, please do not calm down.

This episode illustrates how suppressing our emotions leads to dis-ease.

This episode offers practical, safe, healthy ways to process our rage... and also offers insights into what our rage is revealing to us and how we can use it in service of others.

This episode is an inside look at the last year of my life and my own healing work, and there is no better time in history than to be having this conversation with each other: safely, compassionately, openly.
