  • Beck Did It Again! (What's the Story) Morning Glory? by Oasis

    Listen.

It's Labor Day weekend. The worst time of the year.

School is starting. Thirty some weeks until the next summer. Everyone goes on vacation this weekend, except Rob who sits in his room and complains.

Plus Oasis is back in the news by announcing a new tour and the text chain is alive with people wanting to go. This release is dedicated to everyone who tried to buy tickets and it turns out Ticketmaster still hasn't quite mastered selling tickets.

Also, I have no idea what happened in this episode, I will be listening with you.

  • Kanye West: Graduation (2007) Ep. 204
Good morning! The anticipation for this week's episode is palpable. Unfortunately, we don't know what record we are covering today.

So, before we get to the album, we tentatively jump into a mosh pit of live concert discussion with some ticket-buying advice, a breakdown of Def Leppard's hits, and an address about whether it's okay to wear a band's T-shirt to a concert. We also celebrate a game-winning shot, relive the Olympic viewing experience, and order some meat thermometers for a B-to-B experience even Randy Moss would call a disgusting act. Rob, one big nut or one tiny nut?

Then at (57:00), the podcast gets stronger, and we become the best podcast about Kanye West and the 204th greatest album of all time, Graduation. We discuss the stadium rock influence on this album, the records that influenced Kanye, and whether this album changed perspectives on what is possible in rap music (at least according to Wikipedia).

Next week will be a wild world when we become the best Cat Stevens podcast and best Yusuf Islam podcast and discuss Tea for the Tillerman.

  • Nick Drake: Pink Moon (1972) Ep. 203

Welcome to the best Nick Drack Podcast and a podcast where we talk about the album Pink Moon. We talk a lot about the cabin this week and Matt tells us about his new skill.

Aaron is back on PTA duty but is too busy with all his Guys' nights, Russ is on a concert bender and Rob's kid tells the perfect joke.

Then we learn about Matt's new drinking game and talk about Pink Moon. We also learn about songs and artists influenced by the short career of Nick Drake and talk about this really fun album.

Next week, are you trying to seduce me Mrs. Robinson? We are a podcast talking about Graduation by Kanye West

  • Bjork: Homogenic (1997) Ep. 202

G'day mate! Welcome to the land of the living. Download this episode and start listening to the best podcast about Bjork and the 202nd greatest album of all time, Homogenic. Warning this episode is RO RL and ordinary.

Before we unravel the album, we become the best podcast for food lovers and discuss last meals, ice cream flavors, being late for dinner, and lactose decisions that will leave your stomach bamboozled. We also chat about our signature moves and dream jobs and share a review of the Foo Fighters concert.

Then at (57:00) the alarm call goes out for Bjork and her electronica album Homogenic. We compare and contrast Bjork with Radiohead, discuss Icelandic choirs, and cover the artists with the most Grammy nominations without a win. We also talk about Nintendo music and have a surprise run-in during the celebrity death match between Beck and Bjork.

Next week, Beck Did it Better will be the place to be when we become the best Nick Drake podcast and discuss the 1972 folk album, Pink Moon.

  • A Tribe Called Quest: Midnight Marauders (1993) Ep. 201

    Hey everyone,

This week we hit our second A Tribe Called Quest Album and we pretty much become the best podcast about Midnight Marauders. We are talking USA up all night, Jock Jams, and the time Rob went to Military School.

Aaron talks about Rucking and Rob talks about talking about getting horny. Everyone thinks its normal that Aaron orders messed up stuff at the ball game and we go over the insane music choices our nephews are making.

Then we go over Midnight Marauders and talk about how this album is a little more grown up than Low End Theory but still fun. Then Rob talks about talking about being horny again.

Next week, we have Bjork with Homogenic and no one will get sick during the recording of the podcast.

  • Pavement: Slanted and Enchanted (1992) Ep. 199
Once upon a midnight dreary, we recorded the best podcast about Pavement and the 199th greatest album of all time, Slanted and Enchanted. Quoth our downloaders "Nevermore".

The first half of this podcast is sponsored by Hardees, during which we discuss our favorite Summer Olympic events and the utility of wagons. Then, we dive into the most important Delta meltdown that has impacted one traveler's upgrade. Finally, we become the best podcast about literature and discuss Edgar Allen Poe's short stories, the best books of the 21st century, and a book about an erotic scene with a jazz-playing bear.

Then at (50:00) we break down Pavement's debut studio album Slanted and Enchanted. We discuss Pavement's performance at Lollapalooza, indie bands, and lo-fi music.

Next week, we'll keep it rollin' when we become the best podcast about A Tribe Called Quest and cover the 1993 hip-hop album Midnight Marauders.

  • Anniversary Special: Paul's Boutique by Beastie Boys

    Folks.

Paul's Botique came out 35 years ago so I wanted to celebrate this anniversary by giving all we can give. And all we can give is an old episode that we released.

However, I listened to it and it was a pretty good ep. Matt makes a great list, big Humpty Dumpty makes a stride forward and Aaron begs for a free gift.

The album is fun and the episode is a good one. See you Tuesday!

  • Sade: Diamond Life (1984) Ep. 200
Some say that comparison is the thief of joy, but we still think this is the best podcast about Sade and the 200th greatest album of all time, Diamond Life. And what better way to celebrate this album, than posting this podcast 40 years and 7 days after its original release!

But before we get to the music we jump on a big swing and discuss the best fictional basketball players of all time. Then we chat about glazing mugs at family camp, hidden tracks on the Miseducation of Lauren Hill, and snoring treatments. We also became the best podcast about politics in 2024 with a stump speech asking Lunds and Byerlys to bring back regular donuts. Click here to sign the Change.org petition and support the cause!

Then at (1:06:00) we discuss Sade's debut studio album, Diamond Life. We chat about Sade's use of space (shout out Heat Rocks), the best Sade albums, and the best titular lines of all time.

Next week's episode will cover a lonesome era when we become the best Pavement podcast and cover the 1992 indie rock album Slanted and Enchanted.

  • Fixing my Mistake! Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1998)

    Listen.

    We all make mistakes.

Some of us don't edit the podcast on time and then decide (way too late) to release an episode we talked about on the podcast tomorrow.

Then some of us confuse the Lauryn Hill album with the Fugees album.

So here is the Lauryn Hill album that Apple music says is the number one album of all time but there is a little controversy regarding the last few songs! And we talk about Bob Newhart on this one for sure.

We will get back on track tomorrow.

  • Re-Release! The Score by the Fugees (1996)

Hey folks. I wasn't able to get an episode done this week. Why? It's not important. You want to know? Ok. I am at the cabin but I normally use my dad's computer when I am here but he wasn't here. No big deal? I have my wifes computer. I record on it but there is no GARAGE BAND so I was not able to edit it until my dad came up. I am 44 years old.

This is the episode on the Fugees. Apple music just declared this album as the number one album all time but when we release Sade on Tuesday, we talk about how there is a little discrepency with what songs are included on the album.

We also talk abot Bob Newhart who just passed away. Sorry about no episode this week but we made it 200 weeks before that.
