  • Trial & Learning

When we're trying to get better at something, and we keep making mistake after mistake, it can be so frustrating! Reframing those mistakes as learning opportunities, can get us out of that negative spiral and help us focus on how much we're growing.

When we look at mistakes as learning opportunities, we recognize that whether the results are bad or good, there’s an opportunity for growth. The only permanent failure is when we stop trying. Until then, our failures become lessons learned that help us make better decisions in the future.

  • Special Episode - Eliza Fletcher

    MEN,

When you heard the Eliza Fletcher story a few weeks ago, did it rock you?

Because it should have. It definitely did for the women in your life. Because it’s validation for the fears they feel when they go on a run in the dark.

I could list here a bunch of things women can do to make themselves safer, but isn’t that the problem? We’re putting it all on them – that it’s up to women to keep themselves safe.

When really it should be on us men to make them feel safe.

We had a great conversation about this in our member group last week and wanted to share it with you here.

It's so important to have a conversation with all the women in your life about the fears they have when in situations like this. You owe it to the women in your life.

  • The Relentless Wanderer - Marty Harward - Episode 36

    “Running was punishment.”

That’s what Marty learned from his time as a pole vaulter in college.

Fast forward a few years and a set of quadruplets later, and Marty found that running wasn't punishment; it gave him purpose and helped him feel alive; it helped him be a better father and a better husband.

Year after year, he’s kept it consistent and explored what his body can do.

From 5k to 50k to 100 miles, he’s learned that consistency is the driving force behind what he’s accomplished.

Now at more than 85 races (with over 3 dozen marathon-length or longer), and still pushing strong!

Listen in to hear what he’s learned over the years – here’s a few highlights:

“If you stop moving you stop being able to move; you lose energy…”

“When I’m not running, I don’t like how I feel…I notice I’m not sleeping as well…Something calls to you and tells you that you need to make a change.”

    “It’s about the accomplishment…the journey…the adventure.”

“After I crossed the line on my first 100-miler, it changed my perception of myself - what I thought my capabilities were. I carried myself different; I thought differently about myself; I had more confidence and that hasn’t changed…”
