  • Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 14 - Rebirth (2020)... The Gender-Swapped Indie NOTLD Remake

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 14 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

After taking a detour in the past two episodes exporing versions of Night Of The Living Dead in radio, theatre and books, it's time to return to the realm of cinema and delve into another reinterpitation of the classic 1968 film. For this 14th episode of the podcast, your host Bede will be looking at the 2020 independent remake Rebirth from writer/director/star Roger Conners, which takes a very unique approach by gender-swapping the main character of "Barbara" to "Adam" and tackling LGBTIQA+ themes within its story.

Joining Bede to discuss this version of Night Of The Living Dead are both returning guest Super Marcey (co-host on the many podcasts on

The Super Network with Bede and the host her own solo show After Dark With Super Marcey) and first-time guest Tim Davis (co-host of the podcast Dummies Of Horror). Highlights in this one include Tim telling us about when he first saw the original NOTLD (plus, his controversial opinion on its sequel Dawn Of The Dead), what they thought of the change of "Barbara" to "Adam" in this version, how the film updates its themes for today, praise how the filmmakers achieved so much with the low budget, which two cast members stood out the most with their performances, the film's surprising amount of zombie nudity and so much more.

Also Bede brings back the segment that he hasn't done for a couple of episodes The Living Dead Unreleased, which is a quick discussion on a version of Night Of The Living Dead that either hasn't been released yet or has never been made. For this one, Bede and his guests discuss an Australian take on NOTLD that you probably didn't know existed because it has barely been released: Cooma Little Theatre's 2019 remake of Night Of The Living Dead, which has a pretty interesting story behind it.

  • Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 13 - Nights Of The Living Dead: An Anthology (2017)... The NOTLD Inspired Short Story Novel

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 13 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

Apologies once again. As stated at the end of the previous episode of the show, originally this one was going to be on the original cast recording of the 2019 off-Broadway production of Night Of The Living Dead: The Musical! but unfortunately due to some things that came up on the guest's end, the episode wasn't able to be recorded. Don't worry, that episode will come in a future date instead. Plus because of that, the podcast needed to be delayed by one week due to the change in scheduling. Once again, apologies for that. For this episode of the show, your host Bede has decided to take a trip to the world of literature to dive into a short story anthology that's inspired by the original NOTLD film with the 2017 novel Nights Of The Living Dead: An Anthology, which was edited/curated by George A. Romero himself & Jonathan Mayberry and features story contributions from writers Joe R. Lansdale,

Brian Keene, David J. Schow, Carrie Ryan, John Skipp, John A. Russo, Chuck Wendig, Isaac Marion and many more.

Joining Bede to discuss on this anthology novel that's set during Night Of The Living Dead are two first-time guests who have a lot of experience in the world of horror literature: writers Aaron Dries (author of the books House Of Sighs, Dirty Heads and Cut To Care: A Collection Of Little Hurts, which you can buy at his official website here) and Zachary Ashford (author of Sole Survivor, Sole Survivor II: Drop Bears On The Loose and When The Cicadas Stop Singing,
which you can buy at his official website here). Highlights in this one include Aaron & Zachary discussing the first time they both saw the original Night Of The Living Dead film, which stories stood out for each of them from the novel, what did they think of George A. Romero's shorty story contribution, the genre-mash up that Bede absolutely loved, how the audio book version brings out the cinematic quality of some of the stories, praise the consistent quality of the novel and many more.

  • Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 12 - Night Of The Living Dead: A Radio Play (2019) and Night Of The Living Dead: Remix (2020)

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 12 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

First up, an apology needs to be made. Originally this episode of the podcast was going to be on the original cast recording soundtrack of the off-broadway show Night Of The Living Dead: The Musical but unfortunately due to some scheduling conflicts, my guest for that one and I weren't able to record that episode. Don't worry, that episode will be coming very soon. Once again, apologies for that. So your host Bede decided to switch things around and make the topic of episode 12 be on two versions of NOTLD that were done for radio with Kentucky Shakespeare's 2019 radio drama adaptation with Night Of The Living Dead: A Radio Play and the stage with the 2020 British experimental play Night Of The Living Dead: Remix by Imitating The Dog/Leeds Playhouse.

Joining Bede to discuss both of these theatrical themed versions of Night Of The Living Dead is someone who knows a thing or two about this subject, is his good friend Steven T. Boltz, who co-runs the Melbourne theatre company The Knack Theatre and as well as the co-host of The King Zone's Book Club Podcast (the spin-off of The King Zone Podcast that Bede co-hosts with Super Marcey on The Super Network). Highlights in this one include Bede & Steven discussing how both the radio drama and stage play similarly set the tone for their interpretations, the enjoyment they had from listening to a radio drama version of Night Of The Living Dead, the mixed feelings they had on the portrayal of Barbara, wonder if there was 'too much' narration in it, praising the unique and radical approach of Night Of The Living Dead: Remix, stunned by the attention to detail the actors put into their roles, how the play adds to the final scene and so much more.

  • Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 11 - Night Of The Living Dead: Darkest Dawn (2015) and Night Of The Living Dead: Rescored (2016)

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 11 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

Now that the first major milestone of the podcast is out of the way, we continue on with our journey of exploring all the many different variations of Night Of The Living Dead over the years. Believe me, there is still many more to come for the rest of 2023. For this 11th episode, your host Bede is going to be looking at both the second animated NOTLD remake with all-star voice cast with the 2015 CGI animated film Night Of The Living: Darkest Dawn and Lakeshore Record's 2016 re-edit of the original 1968 film Night Of The Living Dead: Rescored, which has a brand new original music score composed specially for it from ORGE & Dallas Campbell (which you can buy/stream from iTunes and Spotify).

Joining Bede to discuss both of these animated and rescored versions of Night Of The Living Dead is podcaster, historian and filmmaker Brad Henderson, who also currently works for the BluRay/music label TerrorVision. Highlights in this one include Bede & Brad discussing what's coming up in the future for TerrorVision, the George A. Romero project that Brad is working on, Night Of The Living Dead: Darkest Dawn's ugly and misguided CGI motion capture animation, what Tony Todd brings to his vocal performance of Ben here compared to his live action portrayal of the character in the 1990 remake, how Night Of The Living Dead: Rescored's brand new score changes the feel of the original classic, which tracks stood out from the soundtrack and so much more.

  • Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 10 - Night Of The Living Dead Reboot (2013) and A Night Of The Living Dead (2014)

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 10 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

Well, it has finally arrived. The podcast has reached its milestone 10th episode. Even though it might not seem like much, but this is major achievement for a little podcast such as this. However there is plenty more episodes on the many different versions of Night Of The Living Dead to come this year, so there will be more milestones for the show to hit in 2023. After covering quite a number of bigger budgeted remakes of the film over the past few episodes, it's time to take a look at some micro-budget independent film takes on NOTLD with both the 2013 film Night Of The Living Reboot from Guthrie Films and the 2014 film A Night Of The Living Dead from Shattered Images Films.

Joining Bede to discuss both of these two low budget remakes of Night Of The Living Dead is returning guest Derek Smith, who previously made an appearance on the first episode of the podcast. Highlights in this one include Bede & Derek discussing the modern social commentary of Night Of The Living Dead Reboot, the mixed performances of the cast, how surprisingly effective the new ending is, the interesting new elements and changes that A Night Of The Living Dead brings to the story, the one character that Bede hated with a passion, the things that didn't work in this version, what both remakes were able to achieve with their low budgets and so much more.

  • Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 9 - Night Of The Living Dead: Resurrection (2012)... The British Remake

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 9 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

That's right, everyone. The podcast is now only one episode away reaching the milestone 10th episode and there is still many more to come in this journey of exploring every version of Night Of The Living Dead that is out there. So far for the show a lot of the different remakes, homages and re-edits of the original 1968 film have been made in the United States, it's time to take a trip across the pond and see how the Brits tackle this classic zombie with the 2011 British independently made remake Night Of The Living Dead: Resurrection, which was co-written and directed by James Plumb (Silent Night, Bloody Night: The Homecoming).

Joining Bede in discussing this British reimagining of Night Of The Living Dead is returning guest and contributor for The Super Network Marcus Wilturner, who previously made appearances on the first and fifth episodes of the podcast. Highlights in this episode include Bede & Marcus discuss all the differences between this remake and the original 1968 film, how the character of Ben was controversially used in the story, the unlikability of the new characters, the film's use of shock tactics, wonder if this remake is actually even more bleaker and mean spirited than the original NOTLD, appreciating the elements that did work, *that* repugnant final line and so much more.

  • Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 8 - Mimesis: Night Of The Living Dead (2011)... The Meta-Remake That's Also Not A Remake

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 8 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

Now that we are at episode 8, the podcast is now officially stepping closer and closer from reaching its milestone 10th episode. Even though we're nearly 10 episodes in, the show is only just tipping the iceberg on all things Night Of The Living Dead. Unlike the previous episodes of the show that have focused on two films, your host Bede will only be exploring just one film for this 8th instalment: the 2011 horror film Mimesis: Night Of The Living Dead (or also known simply as Mimesis in some parts of the world), which is a interesting meta kind-of-remake of the original 1968 classic from cult horror film director Douglas Schulze (Hellmaster).

Joining Bede in discussing in this unique take of NOTLD is first-time guest Barton Roberts. Highlights in this episode include Bede & Barton discuss whether the film could have did more with its premise, the interesting meta ways the film approaches Night Of The Living Dead with its story, Douglas Schulze's bizarre filmmaking choices, do the plot turns make logical sense, Courtney Gains & Sid Haig's appearances, the film's social commentary and so much more.

Also Bede brings back a segment that he hasn't done on the show since episode 2 called The Living Dead Unreleased, which is a quick discussion on a version of Night Of The Living Dead that either hasn't been released yet or has never been made. For this one, Bede and his guest Barton dive into *another* 3D remake of NOTLD, this time from Britain, that was suppose to come out in 2013 but still hasn't yet called Night Of The Living 3D Dead.

  • Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 7 - Night Of The Living Dead 3D (2006) and Night Of The Living Dead 3D: Re-Animation (2012)

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 7 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

Apologies once again. As I stated at the end of the previous episode of the show, originally this one was going to be on the 2011 film Mimesis: Night Of The Living Dead but unfortunately due to some things that came up, my guest for that and I weren't able to record that episode. Don't worry, that episode will come in a future date. So I decided to switch things around and make the topic of this episode be on two films that were originally meant to be the main discussions on episode 6, but I had to switch around due to also scheduling conflicts. For episode 7 of the podcast, we'll be going into the third dimension by looking into the 2006 3D remake of Night Of The Living Dead (which will be the officially second remake of NOTLD for this show) and its prequel Night Of The Living Dead 3D: Re-Animation (2012).

Joining Bede in discussing these two 3D takes of NOTLD is first-time guest Lance Langford, one of the co-hosts of the podcast The Horror Returns. Highlights in this episode include Bede & Lance wondering whether the 3D was necessary for both films, appreciating the meta and subversive approach to the 2006 remake, debate whether the remake is decent schlocky fun, who gave the better performance as the new character of Gerard Tovar, Jr among the two films: Sid Haig or Andrew Divoff?, why is there a Sarah Palin lookalike in the Re-Animation? the gravitas that both stars Andrew Divoff & Jeffrey Combs bring to the prequel and so much more.

  • Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 6 - Night Of The Living Dead: Reanimated (2009) and A Chemical Skyline (2010)

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 6 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

Apologies for the one week delay on this episode of the show. Originally this one was going to be on the films Night Of The Living Dead 3D (2006) and its prequel Night Of The Living Dead: Re-Animation 3D (2012) that was mentioned at the end of the previous episode but due to scheduling conflicts between myself and my guests, we weren't able to record that in time for its due date. Don't worry, that episode will be coming very soon in the future. In the meantime though, your host Bede has some exciting stuff to talk with the two other NOTLD related films he has arranged for this episode: the 2009 experimental animated film Night Of The Living Dead: Reanimated and the 2010 short film A Chemical Skyline (how does it connect to the NOTLD? You'll have to listen to find out!).

Joining Bede to discuss this animated feature and short film is first-time guest & long-time friend Beatrix Harper (owner/writer of Goodness Bea). Highlights in this episode include Bea telling us about when she first saw the original NOTLD,  discussing the many different animations styles for Night Of The Living Dead: Reanimated, which type of animation couldn't help but make Bede laugh every time it was onscreen, whether A Chemical Skyline does work as a short film overall, the one character who annoyed Bede, wonder whether the film's connection to the world of NOTLD is a fun or unnecessary edition and so much more.

Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 5 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media.

Well, it's now 2023 and that means a brand new year for the podcast. After starting off strong with the first four episodes at the end of the last year, your Bede promises a lot of exciting things coming up for the podcast this year with all the many different versions of Night Of The Living Dead he'll be tackling. Being that this is the first episode for 2023, it's only appropriate to bring you all a jam-packed with this fifth episode of the show. In this one, our host will diving into the both the controversial colourised version and comedy troupe Rifftrax's live episode of the original 1968 Night Of The Living Dead.

Joining Bede to discuss these two unique versions of NOTLD are returning guest Marcus Wilturner (critic/contributor of The Super Network) along with first-time guests Amiedoll and John Seavey (host of the podcast Half Price Horror). Highlights in this episode include Bede and his guests wonder if the original NOTLD needed to be colourised, how the feel of the film changes now that it's in colour, the odd colour choices for certain scenes, our favourite funny moments from the live Rifftrax version, the differences between the live show and the pre-recorded commentary, how some of the jokes made us notice things that we have never seen before in the film and so much more.
