Episode 44: Three Hills and Emperor's Brewery Collab Brew Day

In this episode, I join Andy from Three Hills and Damian from Emperor's in Bermondsey, South London, for a collaboration brew day. The resulting beer will be a big Imperial Stout called Rebel Fortress and will be available from 28th April 2022.

After a morning of mashing in and then digging out the mash tun, plus sampling beers - and some Whisky and Wort! - we sat outside in the pleasant Spring weather and chatted about their breweries as well as about collaborations.

Episode 42: Burning Sky

This episode features Mark Tranter, founder and owner of East Sussex brewery Burning Sky. I travelled down to the small village of Firle, not far from another beer mecca - Lewes - to speak to Mark at the brewery. It was a great day for a beer geek like me to be in the presence of such an icon of the UK Craft Beer scene and in the very place where the magic happens!

Also featured in the episode, I talk about a few beer stories, such as Good Things Brewing Co looking to rebuild after their catastrophic fire as Allkin Brewing; London Fields Brewery being put up for sale, just as Fourpure and Magic Rock recently were too; and the International Women's Collaboration Brew Day on 8th March!

Episode 41: Double-Barrelled Brewery

In the first episode of 2022 I speak with Charlotte Cook, Head Brewer at Coalition Brewery - currently cuckoo brewing in Sussex, but due to open their own site in London within the next few months.

We talk about Charlotte's brewing journey, the challenges and learning curves she has experienced along the way, and what to expect from Coalition beers. We also discuss the negative culture at breweries, British hops and why she really doesn't like otters!

There's also a love letter to Tallin, but not so much for Manchester and Sunderland!

Wow! What an action packed episode this is.  It's a long one, but totally worth a listen - even if you break it up into a couple of sessions!

Episode 37: Neptune Brewery with Melissa Cole

In this episode I welcome the fabulous beer writer Melissa Cole as a special guest co-host and we are joined by Les and Julie O'Grady from Liverpool's Neptune Brewery to talk about their beers, starting a brewery off the back of a successful aquatics business, their brewing ethos and the Ladies That Beer project.  All this and Melissa's new book, cats sleeping on people's heads, Lamb Gose, Crack Hens, taprooms in football stadia and how Les comes up with his ideas in bed on a Sunday morning!

I also talk about the British Guild of Beer Writers Awards Dinner, which I attended.
