To do this we need to accept everything about the event and recognise that it is in the past, we may need to forgive someone who has hurt us, including yourself. Finally we may need to learn from it and put steps in place in our lives so that we can reassure the mind that you have recovered from this event and have built a stronger resistance should a similar event occur.
