How can we teach ourselves to perceive pain and loss as punctuation marks in the larger stories of our lives? Even the stories we only tell ourselves?
In today's conversation we discuss:

In today's episode, we expand upon the topic of empathy that we began last week. What a giant and bottomless subject! Here's what I know for sure: our communities could use SO much more empathy. I can only imagine how much safer and kinder our lives would be.
The main issues we discussed were:

I just came back from Italy, and boy do I have stories to tell you! My time off truly reminded me of the importance of looking outside oneself from time to time. Looking outside and into nature. Looking outside and into a completely different culture. I simply cannot be more grateful.

We learn the most valuable lessons from our most difficult experiences. When we’re hard pressed on every side, our survival instincts are strengthened, and we make healthier and wiser choices all around. Choices that end up working, so we end up liking them and choosing to keep them!
My pain has taught me so much.
Today’s episode is just a roundup of some of the most valuable lessons i’ve been learning so far. Listen up!

Life is one giant fruit salad! And we cannot guarantee that all the fruits we get will be fruits we love. The good days come just are surely as the bad ones do, and the quality of the life we choose is largely determined by our perspective.
Remember Covid? Remember all the lessons the collective human race learned? We go back to some of those in our episode today, because I believe that (as with covid), my suffering and loss and pain have gifted me the gift of gratitude and appreciation like nothing else ever has.

Oftentimes the way we're taught to respond to our suffering is by surrendering. The old saying "it is what it is" is tossed left and right as we learn to make peace with the way our lives are unfolding.
But what if we could take this surrender to the next level? What if we could actually LOVE our fate?
'Amor Fati' is a Latin phrase that literally translates as: love of fate. In today's conversation we take a deeper look at how we can practically learn to love our lives as they happen, giving meaning to even the most difficult of circumstances.

Whenever we hear the word 'anger' it immediately translates in our minds as something negative. Anger is something to be avoided at all costs, because it disrupts our peace and leads us to say and do things that we later regret.
But what if we considered the infamous emotion from a new angle?
What if I told you that anger can be a GOOD thing, if we changed our relationship to it?

Today's episode is a little different. Rather than discussing a specific topic and coming out with takeaways, I've decided to share my heart with you. A heavy day unloaded, so that maybe, you come out of it feeling a little less alone.
My friend, we're all human in this messy life--broken, un-linear, confused human beings doing their best. Maybe, if we take a step back (or ten) from Instagram perfection, we can see that somewhere deep down, we're all the same.

Have you ever been so overcome by pain that you feel unable to bear its burden on your own anymore? Well, even if you haven't, let me be the one to burst your bubble by telling you that you will...eventually. Because this crazy, beautiful life we're all living is unpredictable, and we're all bound to experience some degree of unexpected pain and disappointment at some point on our journeys.
In this episode we revisit the ancient fable of Androcles and the lion from a different angle, answering the question: what role does community play in supporting those who are hurting?
