Life gives and it takes. It is constantly fluctuating between ups and downs, and it is up to us to decide how to receive both abundance and the scarcity with contentment. The invitation today is to make space for both gain and loss with humility and acceptance--a rare skill for this modern day. May we derive our self worth from things that are unchangeable; solid principals and actions that cannot be moved or changed over time.

  • Dear Friend, your emotions are OKAY!

    Send us Fan Mail

Our emotions are valuable and precious evidence that we are alive and have responses to the world around us. In today's episode we discuss the importance of acknowledging our continuous need for emotional healing. I got sticky and vulnerable by reading an excerpt of a personal journal entry i wrote back in January, revealing just how lonely and hopeless i felt. Trust me, you do not want to miss this!

Let us love and respect and cherish our emotions. Let us dare to be vulnerable, because i promise you, vulnerability brings vulnerability!

  • Self-Care: Boundaries

    Send us Fan Mail

For all my life I believed that boundaries were a negative thing– people with boundaries were unapproachable and intimidating to be around. I believed that the good people were those whose lives were open books. Who let others into their most intimate lives, and constantly put people’s needs before their own: emotional, energetic, mental, and physical. I believed that to place a boundary was to push people out and away. And that the only way to sustain safe relationships was to see the other person only, and become so selfless that the other person feels 100% comfortable to say and do what they pleased.

But who said that to place boundaries is to be selfish? And where did i even get my definition?

On this episode we discuss the relationship between self-love and boundaries.

  • Generation Self-Care

    Send us Fan Mail

Welcome to generation self-care: the place where individuals have set themselves free from the burden of having to exert any effort they don’t naturally want to exert. A utopia, where all you need is a chilled cup of iced tea on a hot Egyptian July day, your trusty A.C., and absolutely zero excuse for why you chose to ditch your friend whose been counting the minutes until she saw you so you could be the listening ear she’s been waiting to talk to all week. Zero excuse other than the fact that you simply preferred the cool living room weather in your loungewear, and you’ve made the healthy decision of staying true to yourself and saying a big fat brave ‘no’ to anything you don’t feel like doing. ‘No’ to anything that doesn’t serve you. ‘No’ to all that simply…less than comfortable.

    Because comfort over anything.

    My comfort.

    My convenience.

I do me, and you do you.

Welcome to generation self-absorption and egomania. My friend, welcome to individualism—also known as social isolation!

  • A Life of Self-Reflection

    Send us Fan Mail

I know how awkward and heavy it feels to show up for ourselves in a way that matters. And I know how much easier it is to turn to our phones for distraction from the frustrations we face on a day to day basis. I get sick of the email I've been trying to write for hours so I scroll through instagram. I’m waiting for my turn at the bank so I scroll through instagram. I’m not enjoying the company I'm with, so, you guessed it, I scroll through instagram–and tiktok and facebook and God knows what else. And the habit doesn’t end, because the second we get home from work most of us will also almost instantly switch our TVs on. We call it relaxation. We call it unwinding from our stressful days at school or work. Our phones and TVs have become our numbing balms, because the alternative of actually sitting with our thoughts and feelings  is uncomfortable. We will do anything to get us out of processing our days. Anything at all to keep us from sitting with our thoughts and emotions. I get it.

My name is Bee Bishay and you’re listening to another episode of the Being Aloud podcast. Today I invite you to dive with me into the importance of introspection. Is it really important to look within? And if so, why? And what are some habits we can incorporate into our routines that can make self-reflection more accessible?

  • Episode Zero

    Send us Fan Mail

I can't believe i've finally bitten the bullet and released my very first podcast episode. I've titled it: Episode Zero, because we haven't really started any conversations yet. All i did was introduce myself (hi!) and told you a little bit about my 'why' behind starting this podcast.

I am extremely excited to dive into conversation with you. I see a real need for us to talk about the hard messy experiences that make us human, and i hope you're as excited as i am to get started!
