What exactly is mindfulness with your patients and how to be mindful during surgery? Phil Pierorazio, MD of Operate with Zen Podcast talks about how to achieve exactly that, and more. Being present with your patients during their visit, working on your own mindfulness in your personal life.
Dr. Pierorazio is a board-certified urologist with training and expertise in urologic cancers, focusing on kidney cancer, testicular cancer, upper tract urothelial cancer, and prostate cancer. He offers patients both open and minimally invasive surgeries including laparoscopic and robotic surgeries of the kidney, bladder, prostate, and retroperitoneal lymph node dissection for testicular cancer. He is a firm believer that surgery is a last option, and prefers non-operative management whenever possible – but routinely performs surgeries for complex cancers and patients.
Dr. Pierorazio runs the Delayed Intervention and Surveillance for Small Renal Masses (DISSRM) Registry - one of the largest active surveillance registries for patients with small kidney tumors. He is involved in a number of national guideline panels, including both the American Urological Association (AUA) and National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) Guidelines Committees, for Kidney, Testicular and Upper Tract Urothelial Cancer. He also hosts the podcast "Operate with Zen.
