After a few years of the men's and women's Australian Opens running concurrently, Golf Australia has made the decision to revert back to separate tournaments for the first time since 2021.

The concurrent tournament came under heavy criticism from Australian major winners Cameron Smith and Hannah Green with issues around scheduling and course conditions proving to be a bugbear for the golfers. 

Asian Tour pro Marcus Fraser told Quentin Hull the change back to the old format will be welcomed by his peers.

The Canberra Cavalry have claimed their second Australian Baseball League title with a dominant 5-0 win over the Perth Heat in Perth, taking the best of three series in two games. 

The Cavalry will take the Claxton Shield back to Canberra for the first time since 2013.

On Summer Grandstand with Quentin Hull - Sri Lankan cricket commentator Roshan Abeysinghe explained how disappointed the Sri Lankan cricket public was with the performance of their team during the first Test. 

When the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan it forced the nation's female cricketers into exile for fear of their own safety. 

Many of the Afghan Women's cricket team found refuge in Australia, but they have received no support from the International Cricket Council. On Thursday they played an exhibition match at Melbourne's Junction Oval to raise awareness for their plight.
