What actually drives each Enneagram type? It's not the behavior. It's the motivation underneath.
Damon and Kelly walk through all 9 Enneagram types and the core motivation behind each one. This is the layer that sets the Enneagram apart from other personality tests. Most assessments tell you what you do. The Enneagram tells you why.
Type 1, the good person, motivated by the desire to be right.
Type 2, the loving person, motivated by the desire to be loved and needed.
Type 3, the effective person, motivated by the desire to be successful and admired.
Type 4, the original person, motivated by the desire to be unique.
Type 5, the wise person, motivated by the desire to know and understand.
Type 6, the loyal person, motivated by the desire for security.
Type 7, the joyful person, motivated by the desire for adventure.
Type 8, the powerful person, motivated by the desire for control and assertiveness.
Type 9, the peaceful person, motivated by the desire for harmony.
Plus, why two people can do the exact same thing for completely different reasons, what the unhealthy side of each motivation looks like, and how to start identifying your own. A practical episode for anyone trying to figure out their type or move toward a healthier version of it.

Recently, I found myself in a painful situation - breaking a finger. This unexpected event led Kelly and me to a deeper exploration of human emotions and the impact of self-care on our overall well-being. During this episode, we reflect on the fact that an average person experiences around 400 feelings a day, and how identifying and naming feelings improves our emotional health.
As we dive into the complexities of family roles and self-awareness, we investigate how both nature and nurture play a part in our development. We discuss the intriguing dynamics within families, such as the pressure on heroes to maintain high performance, the role of scapegoats as truth-tellers, and the coping mechanisms of lost children who disengage from conflict. By understanding our Enneagram types, we learn to recognize the roles we play in our families, schools, and lives, leading to greater self-awareness and personal growth.

We all have blind spots. The Johari Window is a tool for finding them.
Damon and Kelly walk through the Johari Window, a four-quadrant framework from psychology that maps what you know about yourself, what others know, what's hidden, and what's still unknown. Then they connect it to the Enneagram, exploring how each type can use this tool for self-awareness and healthier relationships.
Along the way, Kelly introduces her Feeling Words Vocabulary process: name the feeling, name why, name the truth. A simple practice that helps you deal with your feelings instead of your feelings dealing with you.
You'll hear how the gut triad (Types 8, 9, and 1) each handle anger differently, why "I'm wondering about this" is a more loving way to point out a blind spot than "you should," and where the word Johari actually comes from (it's not as exotic as it sounds).
A practical conversation for anyone who wants to know themselves better and let trusted people speak into the parts they can't see.
