Big Hunt Guys

Brady, Lorenzo, and Trail sit down to answer some of the most commonly asked questions about selecting a shelter for your hunt. If you are looking at an early-season high country hunt, an archery elk hunt, or a mid to late-season mule deer or elk hunt you’ll want to tune in for recommendations on what shelter makes the most sense and why. The guys also offer some of their insights on selecting a campsite and a few of their favorite tent options.

Utah is one of the west’s premier elk states. In late 2022 a new ten year elk management plan was approved that will attempt to tackle “point creep” in the limited entry system and increase elk hunting opportunities. Lorenzo, Brady, and Trail sit down with Dax Mangus (UDWR Big Game Coordinator) and Mike Wardle (UDWR Beaver District Biologist) to discuss the new elk plan, hunting in Utah and how the plan may impact your draw strategy in the coming years. They also dive into mule deer management, the challenge of managing the desires of hunters and big game species in Utah, and potential changes to “technology” in hunting.
