Big Shot Bob Pod with Robert Horry episodes

  • Big Shot Bob – Ep 115 – Home Court Disadvantage
We open this week’s show with a recap of the WILD end to the Eastern Conference Finals, and Rob admits he doesn’t feel bad for the Celtics because he’s a Jimmy Butler fan. And while the Internet debates if Eric Spoelstra would have lost his job if the Heat blew a 3-0 lead, Rob says no way because he’s too good of a coach. We also get breaking news during the show that Bob Myers steps down as the Warriors GM and we wonder if the new GM will be loyal to Klay and Draymond as contracts come due. And Rob asks if you’d rather be the Miami Heat, who are rolling off a big win – or the Denver Nuggets, who’ve been resting for a solid week? Rob says they lost to the Sixers in 2001 because they were resting too long. The 76ers hire former Raptors head coach Nick Nurse, we have yet another Scottie Pippen intervention, and in the debate between a prime Nikola Jokic vs a prime Dwight Howard of course Dwight picks himself, but does he have a point? Plus the NFL’s new kickoff rule SUCKS, a Big Shot of the Week to Robert Horry’s momma, and another hilarious round of Walmart or Waffle House!

  • Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 2 - Real Men Can't
Rob’s current unemployment prompts a quick discussion about NBA coaches being shown the door too early, and memes about KD and Ja Morant on the bench. And following the Prince Harry paparazzi drama in New York, we asked Rob if he ever had a run-in with them, or had a teammate that did. While Rob did not, he does share a WILD story about a stalker that followed him around and contacted his family – scary! That does lead us into a funnier encounter about a stalker in Owen Wilson’s house who was wearing his pajamas, and we all want to know who wears pajamas?! B-Dog also brings up a list of things that “Real Men Can’t Do” and Jenners immediately has a LOT of issues with this list. Plus the “pineapple on pizza” debate rages on as we all battle for the best pizza toppings, we lay out what people would be invited on our hypothetical super yachts, and what is an acceptable buy at the dollar store. Finally with the passing of NFL legend Jim Brown we all weigh in with our all-time favorite football players. If you have a question for Rob or a topic for the Shoot Around, send it to [email protected] or @bigshotbobpod on Twitter and Instagram.

  • Big Shot Bob - Ep 114 - Sweep Your Peeps
We open the show with the fallout from Los Angeles after the Nuggets swept the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals, and how Rob is now unemployed until he gets a new contract with Spectrum. Rob was also in the building for Game 4 and talks about how he noticed the Nuggets hyping each other up and how good Jokic was when he was needed. That also stems from Mike Malone’s coaching, which Rob also says was way better than the Lakers game plan. Rob also does NOT buy the rumor that LeBron wants to retire, and also doesn’t buy the rumor that the Lakers are looking to trade for Trae Young. We also try to figure out where Anthony Davis was most of the series, how no one is buying the LeBron “retirement” rumors, and what it would take for the Lakers to actually trade for Trae Young. Plus the Heat have been playing amazing basketball, probably part of the reason why Jalen Brown isn’t happy in Boston anymore. Nike pulls Ja’s shoes, Carmelo leaves a legacy, San Antonio quietly wins again, and a dope Big Shot of the Week to a young man who saved a bus full of middle schoolers. And Rob and B-Dog face off in a hilarious round of Rapid Fire!

  • Big Shot Bob – Shoot Around Ep 1 – All Bowling Matters
Robert Horry and the crew return again this week, as we start to roll out a second bonus-show every week. Different from our regular NBA show, the “Shoot Around” tackles some fun pop culture topics, dives into listener questions and let all the guys laugh at some of our funnier life experiences. This week, we find out about Rob’s most destructive teammates, we find out that black folks love to bowl, and we find out which players Rob would have liked to see win a ring. Plus we discuss movie sequels, old-woman crushes, shark attacks and lessons we learned from our mothers! Two shows a week!

  • Big Shot Bob – Flash Your Guns
As we open this week’s show, we get the word that Doc Rivers has been fired from Philadelphia after another second-round exit – and Robert Horry doesn’t think Doc will get another head coaching job in the NBA. We also try to make sense of the Suns firing Monty Williams, and whether or not Kevin Durant will have a say in their next coaching hire. Plus lots on the Ja Morant fallout, an amazing rant from Kwame Brown, and Rob blames Joel Embiid for ALL of the Game 7 loss. Plus how can the Heat beat the Celtics? Why do the Lakers have a match-up advantage against the Nuggets? A dope Big Shot of the Week, and a round of “I Got Fired’ with the circle of NBA coaching changes.

  • Big Shot Bob - Ep112 - The Toughest Ring to Win
Tons of NBA Playoff action to talk about on this week’s show – including why Robert Horry thinks the Lakers won the trade deadline… because all the pieces seem to be working perfectly after the trade deadline moves. Plus we all look ahead to possible Western Conference Finals matchups, and we relish in a terrible Lakers take from ESPN’s Mike Greenberg. And why is everyone so fired up about the idea of Russell Westbrook and Pat Bev getting a ring if the Lakers win the title? We also joke about another terrible Mike Greenberg Heat-Knicks take – that somehow playing in Miami is too tough because of the heat? Like Denver’s thin air isn’t an excuse for the Nuggets? Plus how Rob feels about Jokic pushing Suns owner Matt Ishbia, a super cool Big Shot of the Week for James Harden, Bronny’s commitment to USC, the A’s announcer using the N-word, and a HILARIOUS round of Black Crime or White Crime!

  • Big Shot Bob - Ep 111 - In Your Little Feelings
Robert Horry is in the thick of the NBA playoffs, covering the Lakers for Spectrum in Los Angeles – and Rob says watching Steph Curry playing in Game 2 of their series earned him some new respect for Steph’s game. In regards to Draymond’s “loss of respect” for Sabonis because they didn’t shake hands, Robert Horry recalls that he NEVER shook anyone’s hand in the NBA, only guys on opposing teams that he knew, so that’s not a big deal for him. We also joke that the Denver Nuggets are pulling a “San Antonio Spurs act” by quietly killing people in the playoffs, and Rob feels like Embiid’s MVP was deserved but carries the air of a “make up” award for last season. Also do the Heat stand a chance without a healthy Jimmy Butler? Did Dillon Brooks bring all this on himself? Will Kyrie Irving land in LA after all? We jump into all those topics, hand out an inspiring Big Shot of the Week, and joke around in a game of “Playing the Percentages”. Like and subscribe, stick with us throughout the playoffs!

  • Robert Horry says to scrap the All-Star Game, disagrees with the Hawks firing Nate McMillan, and predicts the NBA Finals winner on the FINAL episode of the Big Shot Bob Pod
We open the FINAL episode of the show by discussing the lackluster NBA All-Star Game, and Robert admits he hates it and thinks they should scrap the entire weekend. Rob admits that all the players want the accolades but treat it like a thorn in their side, and Mac McClung made a name for himself by winning the Dunk Contest. And Vernon Maxwell's reaction to the game in Salt Lake City was hilarious. We also discuss Jordan Clarkson's bling, how Rob has none because that's not who he was, and his flashiest teammate was Shaq. Rob also really disagrees with the Hawks decision to move on from Nate McMillan because Rob thinks Nate is a great coach and a great person, and feels like players like Trae Young need to fall in line and become better teammates in order to find success in Atlanta. We also discuss Russell Westbook in LA with the Clippers, where Rob says he'll have to fall in line with Kawhi and Ty Lue to succeed. We also ask Rob to look into his crystal ball and predict who will meet in the NBA Finals this summer, and who will win it... and his pick is interesting. Caleb and Jason are our live callers for the final show, we send some huge thanks to Robert Horry for his time, and we play a final hilarious round of Black Crime or White Crime! THANK YOU for 108 awesome episodes!!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
