Great book

I absolutely loved this book. I felt this story was written with every thing you could ask for in a novel. Paranormal (obviously), action, romance, friendship, suspense, and so much more. The characters are amazing. Each one has a unique way about them. The story itself held me capture throughout. I think it is brilliant the way Tara Brown wrote a series with 5 books that held you compelled to continue reading and wanting more. Each book lead to having the need to continue through. 'Death' is an awesome story ending that opens to a new series 'Redeemers'. 'Death' is a novel that is well written. A definite add to your tbr list, as well as the first 4 books in this series. Recommended!!!!!!

So much happening and so worth it

Ok, from reading Witch and Hyde, I know Ari's talents leave everyone including us readers with serious cases of Deja Vu, so it didn't completely surprise me that Death started out with a sensation of "Hey, I've read this part before..." Luckily I've been reading this whole series, start to finish, these last few days so everything is still fresh in my head and I understood almost immediately what was going on. Or so I thought.

There are so many twists, turns, U-turns, circles, back flips, and somersaults in this story I loved it even though it made me exhausted! By the way the story ended I can tell there will be more to come, and HOPEFULLY there will be no more talk of the Aimee-Shane-Aleks ping-pong trifecta because holy hell I am so over that thread in the story!

I think this was a good ending to what looks like a new beginning. Everything- Every single little detail, little thread, and fresh spring-grown branch in the story is completely changed. Nothing is as it was at the beginning, nothing is as it was even in Witch and it is exciting and intriguing to wonder what Tara Brown will come up with next. I hope this ending becomes the beginning to a new series. I hope everyone is reunited and given a chance for closure. That is my only upset with this story. So much carnage, so much pain and loss and no one got to say their goodbyes. I understand that those kinds of events echo real-life circumstances because it's not a perfect world, and not everyone gets their Goodbye. But there was just SO MUCH going on all at once in this story I feel like there needs to be a recovery process. My head is still spinning.

Another thing I noticed were the dynamics between the characters.

I threw up in my mouth, twice

Warning: If you you find extreme violence to, and torture scenes of women or graphic sex disturbing or distasteful. Dont Read or listen to this book or at least think twice before you get this or any book audio or otherwise by Matt Shaw.

I swear Show is one sick and twisted individual. There is seriously something wrong with him. How else could he continuously come up with all these extreme horror stories?

Surprisingly enough Dont Read is the tamest one to date. It is the story a psychopath named Chris. Who just wants to torture and kill women, in particular, in the most gruesome way possible. All while recording every detail in his notebook, with Dont Read scribed on the cover, for prosperity. He thinks that doing this will make their lives mean something in the end.

Right off bat we are introduced to Chris who was eating some of the most fabulous eggs he has ever eaten. While telling the waitress just how amazing the eggs were. Her boss shows his true colors. Chris asks the waitress if she would like her boss dead. She replies yes. And we are off.

Chris is a lorry diver, err, um, semi truck driver (I had to look this one up). Who has a custom build sound proof trailer with hidden compartments or cells within. He know that the police are looking for him, yet doesnt care. He know that it will all come to an end eventually and I think he is quite surprised that he hasnt been caught yet.

I cannot say much more without giving everything away. Just know this. I threw up in my mouth, twice, while listening to the disturbingly disgusting tale.

I have listened to a number of pairing between Matt Shaw and Chris Barnes in the past. These two are now in my favorite narrator author couples and I will be listening to more. I cannot think of another voice performer who could breath so much life and creepiness into this story. I am happy to report that it sounds like Barnes has been practicing his female and other character voices as these are some of his best. He primarily reads horror, this is quite apparent by his flawless delivery and subtle innuendos.

Good build up, rushed climax, poor sub characters

What I liked best about the novel was the build up to the finale. There was definitely a well defined antagonist with no true intentions, which made this sick person a bit more realistic.

RISE OF THE WITCH

I did like parts of this. There were some creepy parts to the story. I quit after 5 hours. The story was just good enough that I would have stuck with it, had it not been for the narrator. Christina Delaine is the female version of Scott Brick. Every single word, sentence, phrase is read in a whispery, conspiracy, breathy, campfire story tone. When you constantly read everything like it is the most scary thing in the world, after awhile you lose track of what is suppose to be scary and what is not. The eight year old girl, who is suppose to be normal, sounded creepy right from the start.

The writing is not awful and really shows some promise, but it is also not polished or good enough to survive the narrator. The story was not good enough for me to get a print version, but if you are really into paranormal, then you might like the print version.

First audiobook I've ever stopped and deleted...

This story is very boring and the narration is just awful. I really tried to get through it, I made it to about 7 hours then realized I did not even care how it ended and it was a chore to listen to so I deleted it. The character development is extremely weak and I didn't really care about anyone in this book. It is no wonder I got this on sale for $3.95. Multiple times I found myself just thinking about something else because the book was so disengaging. Don't get me started on this lady's 8 year old girl voice... It sounds like she is doing the voice of a 3 year old that just learned how to speak. It was hands down the worst 8 year old voice impersonation I have ever heard in my life. She sounds like a character off of the cartoon Rugrats..

I tried to finish it...

This book was difficult to get through. However, when you find yourself begging the narrator not to say the words to the spells because of the voice she uses, it's time to give up.

College student with a connection to the spirit world!

"Ghost Connection:Lost" by Jami Brumfield is the first book in a promising series about a college student that can see and hear ghosts. After a car accident that took the life of her father and almost herself, she has been able to see them. With the help of a ghost teen she goes through life trying to help other ghosts with crossing to the other side. But everything she thought she knew is starting to change and life is forcing her into knew involvements with spirits, both good and evil.

I love this series just as much as her other series Paranormal Bureau of Investigations. I love them because they feel like I'm watching my favorite TV series and I can visualize the action as I read it. Lots of action to keep you interested.

Her work just gets better and better

I have read all of the Kindle books by rising star Jami Brumfield. Her work just gets better and better. The latest, Lost (Ghost Connection) was a wild and unpredictable ride. If you like the paranormal genre, check check out Ms. Brumfield's.

Emotionally engaging and fantastic!

What a truly engrossing and inspirational tale. Jami Brumfield is a master of the short story. The only thing bad about it is --- it's a short story! You're left wanting more. Thankfully, it's a first in her new series, and more tales will follow. You can't help but become attached to Cassie and Abe like old friends, and the twists revealed will get you emotionally invested as well. Warning: You will need a tissue or two when reading this fantastic new series of shorts from Jami Brumfield. I did! Darnit, Jami! And when will NBCUniversal/SyFy see these shorts? What excellent material for a new show! I'd watch this even after reading it just to see it come alive. Okay, enough from me. Go read and don't say I didn't tell you so when you're wiping away a flood of tears.

Enjoyable beginning

Enjoyed this new venture into Cassie's life with ghosts. Looking forward to further adventures with Abe & Cassie! And I hope Frodo is included, too!

I love the characters and was drawn in immediately

Cassandra has the ability to see dead people. It makes her a little crazy, but she is used to it. In the process of helping one person, all hell breaks loose and now several mishaps has involved a sexy cop. Not sure what is going on, and not believing in coincidence, he is determined to discover the link. I love the characters and was drawn in immediately. This book is a cliffhanger and I was given a copy in a contest.

The only screams you will get out of this collection, is when you have finished and realize how much you just got ripped off. I did enjoy the first story Weeds, by Stephen King, but the rest of the stories are so unimaginative that it does not warrant your time or money.

Dead Aware by Terry M. West is a horror story told in screenplay format. This audiobook is about a private investigator that can talk to the dead. He sees what awaits in the afterlife and its not pretty, you could say its driving him insane. A very real horror story.

The story was good, but had I known that it was read as a play I would not have gotten it. It was to much repeating the characters names.

MARESMAN = NIGHTMARE MEN

FLACCID CLEAVAGE

I had listened to A DWARF WITH NO NAME and liked it, so was excited about this. The previous book was different with some crazy characters. This just has one character and he is boring. The main character is a demon hunter or husk hunter, which certainly is not a new idea. Husks can be just about anything. They are what ever some god dreams up. Werewolves were mentioned often. A maresman receives a contract to kill a certain husk. If he does not kill the husk, than other maresman will kill him. We are told this numerous times in the first couple of hours. Maresman are also half husks themselves.

Neufeld is very different, but perfect for Prior's type of writing. This book needed more colorful characters.

I will not continue this series, but I will listen to more about the Nameless Dwarf.

I tried getting into this book, I really did. It sounded interesting and I REALLY wanted to like it. There was just too much wrong with the characterizations that I just couldn't identify with it, thus the enjoyment was sucked right out of it (for me).

The story premise was good. However, all the issues I have with the book wrap around to the adage, "Write what you know." The author's characterization of the female characters was not good (it was off-base and undeveloped), as was the characterization of the protagonist. When the book's POV was in that of the female characters, I seriously wanted to shake the author, asking if he'd ever met a woman before. It was weird: I didn't get a hint of misogyny, just the overall feeling that the author couldn't identify, not even one iota, with a woman. I almost gave him a pass for the protagonist, but as I got deeper into the story and was thinking about it, I just couldn't. How many authors have done volumes of research to add to their storyline, settings, characters, etc.? Yes, yes - it's fiction, but there needs to be some plausibility in order for the reader to identify with the book (and there is SO MUCH research, so many books, about serial killers that helpful facts and guidelines would have been relatively easy to compile).

Now, the rating... 2 vs. 1 star. Because the author used correct connotation and grammar and did have a good story concept, I rated it 2 as opposed to 1 star.
