Kathryn FINALLY finished watching Black Widow (I was only a week behind you, doofus – Kathryn) (SO SLOW. – Elizabeth) so we’ve got to dive into all the reasons why it was, if not perfect, still really, really fun.

First up though, we’ve got the weekly SitRep, and our opinions on the recent Joss Whedon interview. (Short version: he’s a jerk and people should stop giving him money.)

But the big thing we’ve got to discuss is the mid-season finale of Lore Olympus. Massive great big spoilers ahoy! We’re going to spend the next four months (and most of this episode) asking ourselves, what does it all mean for Olympus and the Mortal Realm? What’s Artemis going to do? Is the truth ever going to come out? Did Zeus manage to thread the needle, or did he just make things SO MUCH WORSE?

Okay, when we say we’re talking about the Black Widow movie, we mean we’re talking about the first forty-five minutes, because Elizabeth was juuust a little better at movies this week and Kathryn still needs to catch up.

First though we have to talk about two episodes of Lore Olympus, one of which happens to be the penultimate episode before the upcoming four-month hiatus. There was a lot of information dropped in this one about Persephone’s origin, and who the heck Eris is and why everyone is so terrified of her. But there’s still no news about Apollo and we need to know what horrible thing he’s done that we need to brace for (or if this next episode is when everyone finally finds out what a monster he really is.)

The bottle it’s in is a Victorian-era invention called a Codd Neck bottle, and one of the extra clips at the end of this episode is a little more of Kathryn’s struggle to OPEN THE DAMN THING.

It’s the last episode of 2021! Here’s hoping 2022 behaves itself a little better.

This week we recap one of the last few Lore Olympus episodes before their four-month hiatus, where Zeus is playing dumb, Ares is poking the bear, and Demeter is going to lose her frigging mind.

After that (Spoiler warning!) we fangirl all over the season finale of Hawkeye: the elevator scene! The hallway fight! The arrows! The LARPers! The owl!!

But first up in the weekly SitRep we discuss how we had a lovely Christmas Eve with our family. And two trips to the ER.

As many people have said before, “We’re staying up till midnight on New Year’s Eve. Not to see the new year in, but to make sure the old one leaves.”

After that we jump into Lore Olympus and discuss the real reason why Hades banned Asspollo from the underworld, and whether or not Persephone is going to become queen of the underworld or just die from shame after accidentally offering to make Hades a baby. NOT LIKE THAT. Well, kind of…

And THEN we bring out ALL the spoilers for episode five of Hawkeye. Yes, episode five. Yes, we know the finale dropped yesterday. The days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer, and soon winter will be upon us. Night Vale citizens will need to hoard everything they can to survive (yes, even that box of stale Flavoroos on the counter.) If you’ve been reading Lore Olympus (and if you’re not you really should) you know that everybody’s been waiting over two years for Hades to find out a certain piece of information, and how he’d react when he did.

We found out this week, and it was everything we’d hoped for. (Obviously, MAJOR SPOILERS AHOY in this episode.)

And after the recap we plan our catch-up watch list, including the Hawkeye series and Spider-Man: Far From Home. (No, not No Way Home. We still haven’t watched Far From Home YES we know, we’re bad at movies, but that’s beyond the pale, honestly.)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! (Or if you don’t celebrate, happy Thursday.) Everybody needs a night off, so Cecil and Carlos have hired a babysitter and set off with their friend Larry Leroy to Night Vale’s new art gallery. It’s in the middle of the Whispering Forest, so here’s hoping everyone survives (Night Vale, if 198 episodes haven’t made it clear, is dangerous.)

It’s a fun episode with a sort of big revel towards the end, but what we’re really excited about is the developments on the latest episode of Lore Olympus, so we take a few minutes to go OMG DID YOU SEE THAT I CAN’T BELIEVE IT HADES FINALLY KNOWS!

There’s also a brief discussion of the Anthony Bourdain documentary and some messed up episodes of “Rick and Morty” (I mean, they’re all messed up), but really, this episode is mostly us jumping up and down about having to wait a week to see Hades go to town on someone who desperately deserves it.

This week we’re discussing the latest Lore Olympus, where Hermes and Thanatos and that bitch Thetis are finally done talking, and now Hades is going to make sure that Persephone gets a word in edgewise or so help him he will STRANGLE ZEUS WITH HIS TIE.

After that we move on to Kathryn’s rewatch of the Loki series (which is exactly as good as she thought it was the first time) and discuss the Sylki shippers and the Lokius shippers. (We personally ship Sylki, but do not mess with the Lokius shippers, they’re super passionate and they really want a jet ski scene.)

Well, we had “The Many Lives of Frank Chen“, “The Many Many Lives of Frank Chen“, and “The Nearly Infinite Lives of Frank Chen“. It makes sense that the saga of Night Vale’s most famous dearly-departed would wrap up with “The Life of Frank Chen.”

It’s a quiet, weirdly heartwarming story that’s very satisfying (other than the fact that we still don’t know what’s going on with Hiram McDaniels). After the recap we discuss the latest two episodes of Lore Olympus (I hope the characters are all cozy under that BUS everyone keeps throwing each other under), and take an odd tangent into a medical drama series from the 1980’s and wonder if we’re just imagining that streaming services are chopping bits out of our favorite old TV shows FOR NO REASON.
