right-to-work laws make it so difficult to organize and bargain collectively. But

there are some ways to come together for better labor outcomes, and he’s got

some advice.

A powerhouse work of investigative journalism leads to another scandal in a southern state. PBS and ProPublica tell the story.

Well it’s been a really stupid week, and we went a little long on this one but don’t act like you don’t love it and lap up every second of it. We’re back on the “Do I Have To”-thing and we’re talking about good hip-hop in an era of bad hip-hop, and White Anderson’s charming 2018 animated feature, “I Love Dogs (And Casting White People)”.

They’re both great!

It took me nearly 78 man-hours to make this episode happen. It’s a veritable feat of ingenuity. We talked about this State of the Union, and True Detective, and Jewish Dave’s creative process.

We talk about how there’s no correct Venezuela take and all the soon-to-be presidential also-rans throwing their lame hats into the ring. James joins us to talk about the government shutdown, media, walls, and other things.

We talk about heroes in the struggle for civil rights who were unfairly vilified in their time like Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali, and the creepy weird douche in the MAGA hat video with the Native American guy. Unrelated, we go deeper than you’d probably like on our own personal Mandela Effects. There’s some stray video game talk but don’t worry, it wasn’t for long.  I put an end to that noise because I’m in charge bay-bee.

Our next live show will be Thursday, Feb. 21 at Union Beer Store in Miami. We’ll see who lost a greater percentage of their body mass during that event. Loser has to do the show in a Miami Heat jersey and eat a bowl of pasta.

This could very well be our last episode before the end of 2018, or it might not be. One or the other. We talk about the manufactured outrage aimed at manufactured outrage that probably doesn’t even exists. Jewish Dave fiddles around with a cat for most of the episode. Q is funny but you can tell he’s thinking about more important things. 

About 38 minutes into this episode I sent Jewish Dave a DM of a meme that makes us laugh for most of the rest of the episode and I’m not going to tell you what I sent him. It’s like the end of Lost in Translation. You’re going to need to embrace the mystery of what it could be, and appreciate the inherent romance contained within the fact that knowing what I sent him would only cheapen the content of what was sent. This is how art works.

So, the election is (mostly) over, and here’s the takes:

* The House is blue. The Senate is red. The country is still f*cked. 

* Nevada has fully embraced centrist Democrats and it beats the alternative. 

* Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) is going to be a Senator and all she had to do was take horrible positions on every issue. 

* Florida voters bloc decided that felons should be able to vote, greyhound racing is wrong, offshore drilling is bad, and Republicans Ron DeSantis and Rick Scott best represent their interests. So you can either believe, a.) Floridians en masse are capable of making nuanced, complex, thoughtful decisions that thread the needle between issues and candidates and appear to be inherently in conflict, or, b.) Republicans cheated.
