We're proud to announce that starting today (June 11th, 2025), San Francisco officially has a women's sports bar! Rikki's is located in the iconic Castro district, and we got a sneak peak at the spot during their soft opening over the weekend. From the food, to the cocktails, to the company, this spot has it all!
We sat down with co-owners Danielle Thoe and Sara Yergovich to discuss the importance of creating a welcoming bar that doubles as a community space, how they make difficult decisions despite them both being Libras, the overwhelming excitement and support they're received from both locals and local businesses, and some of their sports and business icons, including Rikki Streicher, the bar's namesake.
Rikki's officially opens on Wednesday, June 11th from 3:30pm-10pm. See you there!

We are excited to highlight the first ever Resistance of Vision festival, a traveling festival of social justice cinema. If your response to this is "fuck yeah", same. We sit down virtually with Director of Programming Anna Feder to discuss the festival's four main pillars of activism, why she decided not to include films about electoral politics, and what it takes to create a festival about movement building.

Welcome to CAAM (Center for Asian American Media) Fest! We're on the red carpet for a film of the Broadway play Yellow Face. The play was written by David Henry Hwang (and is semi-autobiographical), about an American playwright who protests "yellowface" casting in the musical "Miss Saigon", only to mistakenly cast a white actor as the Asian lead in his own play.
We are joined by actors Francis Jue, Daniel Dae Kim, and Shannon Tyo, to discuss turning difficult topics into satire, the importance of public broadcasting, and examples of Asian Americans in the media that finally made us feel seen.
Yellow Face is streaming right now on PBS*!

We're proud to kick off our SFFilm 2025 coverage with a very Bay centered short film!
After What Happened at the Library is a fictional story based on the real events that took place in 2022 when Kyle Casey Chu, a drag queen, was attacked by Proud Boys spouting homophobic and transphobic slurs at the popular Drag Story Hour at the San Lorenzo Library. We're joined by co-writer Róisín Isner and co-writer/actor Kyle Casey Chu (aka Panda Dulce) to discuss the origins of Drag Story Hour, the two-part trauma of becoming public victims and then political puppets, and why it's important to be aware of how we consume the news.
