Bitch, Why? episodes

  • Into the Spider-Verse Part 1: Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse

This week, we cover one of our favorite movies, Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse, as a lovely little palate cleanser before we get into our three-part series on Twilight. We gush over everything from the stylization to the animation to the SOUNDTRACK. We attempt to unpack the significance of Spiderman’s relationship to the cops in this film in contrast to his relationship to the cops in other versions (*gasp* is there Copaganda in this movie??). Neeta gets into the role of animation in film and Gaia perfectly articulates the love we have for Miles’ story and the way it's told. This love fest ends in us deciding to get married on a farm in Maine because of course it does (save the date!) and we decide to make Spiderman an ongoing series where we eventually will cover every on-screen iteration of Spiderman, so be on the lookout for that! We read our first fan mail and get incredibly emo about it too, this week on 'Bitch, Why?

  • BONUS: Taylor Swift - "folklore is gay because i say it is."

During research for our previous episode (The Taylor Swift Incident), Neeta had so many emotions dealing with Post Taylor Swift Stress Disorder (PTSSD) and decided to interview friend and Taylor Swift fan, Kenzie. They talk about how they each got into Taylor Swift, the previously alluded to Kanye drama, the evolution of Miss Swift’s career and how it has all led up to her most recent album, ‘folklore’. They discuss the ways celebrities craft personal relationships with their fans as they recall the infamous tumblr era and Swift's Track 5’s (why did Taylor Swift have a tumblr?? that was so WEIRD). Kenzie explains the Scott Borchetta & Scooter Braun controversy, the faults of Taylor's activism and what makes her so compelling as an artist as Neeta tries to unpack their cultural identity crisis while covering a white woman at the top of the music industry.

  • Taylor Swift: Look What You Made Us Do

This week we talk about Taylor Swift and her recent album, "Folklore", with a special guest: our editor, Cameron! We realize that we probably should never do an episode on a person ever again because it feels weird to give human beings a Bitch Meter score? We discover that all three of us have some Post Taylor Swift Stress Disorder (PTSSD, if you will) and reckon with how it feels to listen to her music as people who aren't in her targeted demographic. We discuss Taylor's activism, rank her albums, and Gaia has a breakdown over the concept of "Celebrity" this week on 'Bitch, Why?

  • BONUS: No Thoughts, Head Empty (Conversations with Katherine) - "Look at My Wand Collection!"

In our new bonus series, ‘No Thoughts, Head Empty’ we interview our friend, Katherine about Harry Potter, cosplay, conventions, and our WAND COLLECTIONS. Supplement the intellectual thoughts from our ‘Bitch, Why?’ episodes with some Real Smooth Brain Hours! Get ready for some absolute foolery as Katherine and Neeta somehow end up on the incredibly niche topics of ‘Thingamavlogs’ discourse and the absolute cringe that was our childhood obsession with the Noble Collection website.

  • Harry Potter Part 3: She Didn't Do That. We Did That.

This week, we finally wrap up the backwards car crash that is Joanne’s (gasp) career with our thoughts on the Harry Potter books. We got really sad in this one, folks, so be prepared. Gaia calls in from a farm in Maine and we talk about how to continue being Harry Potter fans by focusing on fan work and community! We made Harry Potter; Joanne did not (rip Wolfstar). We lament feeling like our favorite childhood book series punched us in the face and as sad as we get, Bitch Time is still especially fun this week! Find out our thoughts on allegorical racism, which Harry Potter characters we think get pegged, and so much more this week on 'Bitch, Why?'!

  • Jojo Rabbit: Being a Nazi is Bad But Also Stupid

This week, we cover Jojo Rabbit and recreate the 3-hour long drunk conversation we had on the floor of Gaia’s apartment. But this time, we did not fight once! After attempting to record this episode three times, we finally wore each other down enough to have a GOOD, WHOLESOME CONVERSATION. We discuss the terrible marketing campaign of this movie and how it is not a satire, but instead just a simple Coming-of-Age film about a little boy who happens to be a Nazi. We both experience major character development and decide to commemorate it with matching tattoos. Maybe the real coming-of-age film was the friends we made along the way? Get ready for spicy takes about Hitler (He is bad! Have you heard?), whether or not Nazis can be gay, how much we hate Rebel Wilson characters and so much more this week on 'Bitch, Why?

  • Harry Potter Part 2: A Very Cursed Child Musical

In the second episode of our three part series on Harry Potter, we out ourselves as people who have read fan fiction (sorry, not sorry!), screech about our Deep and Profound love of college theater and get extremely confused about the plot of Cursed Child (we still can’t really tell you what happens). Get ready for page 6 ao3 level bad fan fiction, Pottermore discourse, and some absolutely Banging musical theater tunes and so much more, this week on 'Bitch, Why?'

  • Hamilton: The Obama of Musicals

This week, Gaia and Neeta cover Hamilton in light of its recent release on Disney Plus. We talk about Lin Manuel Miranda’s treatment of Puerto Rico, how Hamilton was a product of its time, and whether or not immigrants have to get the job done (can’t we just like…live?). We discuss the extremely controversial LIN LIP BITING MEME and bully him for it (just a tad). Daniel Radcliffe’s little Daniel Radcliffe makes a special guest appearance and we attempt to cultivate a Nuanced Relationship with the media we consume: Is it possible?! Find out this week on 'Bitch, Why?’
