This always comes down to one's personal preference, but Oliver still believes an understanding of the four stages of a money's evolution is important to arrive at a true understanding of the debate and which side you fall on. The four stages are: collectible, store of value, medium of exchange, unit of account. While Bitcoin can and does exist and live in each of these stages simultaneously, it naturally specializes in one at a time.
