The tempestuous beast that is Sunset lived up to its mantel as expected dishing up a Whitman’s sampler of warps, wobbles and big, blue Polynesian bowls.  

For the second time in as many events, a Hawaiian wildcard rose to the occasion, taking out the Elite Tour event and with it the Jeep Gold Leader’s jersey. 

In the women’s Brisa Hennessy capped a momentous year for Costa Rican surfing, taking out the country’s first ever World Tour event.
