Today, on Karl and Crew Mornings, we continued our weekly theme: "Bold Steps", and we discussed biblical confession of sin. Understanding true confession is critical to our relationship with Jesus. What is the 10% factor of confession? How can churches incorporate confession biblically and effectively?
Consider just three things confession of sin produces in our lives:
1. Healing – James 5:16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
2. Cleansing – I John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
3. Mercy/Prosperity – Proverbs 28:13 Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
Today's special guest was author Aaron Damiani who is the lead pastor of Immanuel Anglican Church in Chicago. He shared how sin and shame of not confessing can keep us from loving relationships. Confession is a discipline, not a ritual. There's joy and relief in confession. His latest book is called, "Earth Filled With Heaven: Finding Life in Liturgy, Sacraments, and other Ancient Practices of the Church". You can hear the highlights of today's program on the Karl and Crew Showcast.
