Happy New Year Overcomers! I hope you are excited about this year and expectant for all the wonderful things God will do in and through you this year.
Today, I’m here with a solo episode as I really felt compelled to start this first episode of the new year off with prayer. I could’ve talked about setting goals, creating a vision for the new year, new year resolutions, and all that other stuff, but prayer is more important (in my opinion). Pray will help us get the clarity and direction we need for our lives. It’ll help us to hear from God so that our goals actually align with His will.

What's Up, Overcomers! This week, I had the opportunity to speak with Angela Antoine an advocate for those that are incarcerated or formerly incarcerated. She knows all too well firsthand about the injustice system. God has chosen her to be a light for all that feel lost, or like there is no hope. She has experienced over 20 years of incarceration; to see her, you wouldn’t believe the journey she has endured. She founded House of Dreams ReEntry Services and From Conviction 2 Redemption, LLC. Currently, Angela is studying Pre-Law with the anticipation of becoming a lawyer!
I met Angela while finishing my prison sentence, and I've witnessed the passion she genuinely expresses to those who have been left behind or falsely accused and mistreated.

This week, I sat down with Cat Sharp a Christian Life Coach who loves to share and teach about true freedom in Jesus. After walking away from God’s will in her teens, Cat lived a miserable decade of life which included abuse, extreme depression, suicidal thoughts, and a binge eating disorder.
After what she calls her literal come to Jesus moment, she became hungry for God and His Word. God led her through a process of personal revival that left her excited about Jesus and filled with the desire to encourage others in the Word. She loves to help women who are new to or growing in faith become disciples in their everyday lives so they can enjoy a thriving, vibrant, intimate relationship with their Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ.

This week, I sat down with Peggy Easterling from the MINDSET School. Peggy is a Christian Mindset Life Coach whose mission is to help other women smile from the inside out. There was a time in Peggy's life when she experienced a traumatic event that led to a constant state of fight or flight, wiring her brain in self-protection and pushing away authentic relationships due to distrust.
Although God used her to do some amazing things in her early life despite her skeletons, it was not until her 40s that Peggy became fed up with the fake, phony smile. With help, she finally unpacked and surrendered the basement of her heart to Christ, learned to smile from within, have fun, and enjoy life again.

Welcome to another empowering episode of "Arise: Living Your Life with Purpose and Confidence." today, I have a remarkable guest who embodies resilience, empowerment, and the unwavering pursuit of purpose.
April Barber Scales is a name synonymous with hope and transformation. She's the force behind "Fenced in Fighting for Freedom Advocacy," a startup business committed to advocating for the incarcerated, providing resources, and championing their journey to redemption. April's story is not just a testimony of survival; it's a beacon of inspiration for all.
April's life has been a tapestry of challenges, transformation, and service. She spent an astonishing 31 and a half years behind bars, enduring the harsh reality of the justice system. But she emerged from this ordeal stronger, driven by an unyielding determination to make a difference.
April's passion project was born from her remarkable journey. Incarcerated at just 15 years old, her driving force was her unborn child, and she was determined to be the parent she never had. Despite the obstacles, she held onto the dream of becoming the mother she aspired to be. Her son eventually grew up to be a Marine, and their bond is a testament to the strength of a mother's love.
Beyond her advocacy work, April also juggles a career in home health, caring for residents with dementia. Additionally, she's a personal trainer, exemplifying her commitment to overall well-being.
She penned four books during her time in prison, including "Fenced In Fighting for Freedom," a gripping account of her path to incarceration and release, along with "Quotes 365," "31 Days of Growth and Reflection," and "Memoirs of Suzie."

This week, I sat down with Rose Jones, who inspires women through her story of being a domestic violence survivor. Rose is honest and straightforward, keeping it real with others and her community about the struggles she faces. She prides herself on telling her truth and creating a safe space for other women to do the same. Rose has accomplished a lot in her life. She is a mother of 4 beautiful children, a certified life and accountability coach, certified in several courses on domestic violence and trauma recovery, and graduated from college. But Rose does not let that define her. She knows her life is her power and that her worth comes from who she is, not what she accomplished, experienced, or gained.
Her goal is to help other women who have experienced similar experiences like domestic violence, trauma, and self–hate to understand their worth, embrace their stories, and heal from the traumatic situation through self-love, self-awareness, and community belongingness. What makes her an expert in this field is that she doesn't consider herself a highly expert; she is just a woman trying to help another woman get her life back. She says, "God is the true expert. He's just living out his purpose through Me."
In this episode, Rose:
Join us in this inspiring conversation as we delve deep into the journey of healing, self-discovery, and empowerment for survivors of domestic violence.
