Action Items:

1.  Do you currently have student debt? If you do, go see how much it is you actually owe and your interest rates.  Then, brainstorm what you can do to apply more money towards these payments and get rid of them once and for all.
2. Are you getting ready for college?  Did you know over $1 billion of scholarships go unfunded each year?  There is so much potential money waiting for you.  Create an account with myscholly, yes it costs a few dollars a month, and apply for literally every scholarship you can. If you do this, I’ve just made you potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars. Seriously. 
3. Are you thinking about buying a home? Ask yourself if you’re going to stay there for 5 years.  If you are, what can you do to put more money down towards a down payment?  Also, what actions can you take to stay away from accruing extra debt during this time?

Action Items:

1.  It’s time to track your net worth.  Either go to moneyhoneyrachel.com/free and download her free template, or write down all your assets in one column, and your liabilities in another column.  Then subtract liabilities from assets and you’ll get your net worth!  By tracking this at the end of each month, you’ll slowly but surely see the progress which will help motivate you.
2. Get yourself a pen and paper and draw four buckets.  It’s time to label them and write how much you want in each bucket.  #1 is emergency savings and is at $1000/month.  #2 is 4.5 times your monthly expenditures.  In mid 2019, no one knew how different the world would be in 2020 with COVID.  Millions of lives are impacted.  Hopefully this never happens again, but this is to ensure your family is good to go in case you’re fired or transition to a different job. The third bucket is for other things you want just as a house renovation or another vehicle.  Brainstorm how much what you want greater than year off will cost, and write this number on the bucket.  That’ll be your target number.

Action Items:  We’re going to go through budgeting, so if you want it even easier, go to moneyhoneyrachel.com/free, and you’ll get the spreadsheets we’re about to talk through.

1. Get some paper and write down your after tax monthly income at the top of your paper. If you’re not sure what this is, go to your bank account and write down the numbers that were added to your account.
2. Now, write down all the expenses.  There is a long list in the show notes for ease of reference. category and amount for the month: these are rent or mortgage, utilities, bills, insurance, transportation costs, food, entertainment, subscriptions, personal care, shopping, taxes, gifts and donations, credit card minimums, student loans, and extra money in case you forgot a category. 
3. Tally up number 2, subtract it from number 1 and you have your golden number. Circle that.

Action Items. 

1. We covered the 7 steps.  Instead of hearing them all, and trying to do everything, decide to make an adjustment on just one of the items for a full month.  After you’ve done that small adjustment, go to another one of the areas and make a small adjustment there for a month in addition to it.  An idea for this could be, in January I’ll wake up 30 minutes earlier and spend a few minutes in gratitude before the day begins.  In February I’ll do January’s action, and I’ll add to that finding one thing I can do each day to help someone else. For reference, the 7 areas are: Having a morning routine, taking care of your health: Sleep, meditation, nutrition, fitness, Using a journal, Regular reading and learning and regular introspection, Finding mentors, coaches, mastermind groups, Helping others, and having a bias for action. Progress is greater than perfection.

Action Items. 

1.  Print or write out a simple daily schedule. For example, 5 am to 6 am, 6 am to 7 am, and so on.  Write out everything you do on that schedule, and you’ll see areas that you are wasting time or not using it as efficiently.  When I did this activity, I also noted when my energy levels started to fall and spike, and coordinated energy appropriate activities around those times. 
2. What is it that you want?  Go be by yourself, play some calming music and just breathe.  Have a pen and paper with you, and envision what you want your future to look like.  From here, write the top 3 goals you need to work on right now in order to accomplish that, and what you’ll do to make head way towards those goals.  As a reminder, a road is built brick by brick.  It can take awhile for these goals to come to pass and that is ok as long as you’re intentionally working at it and reevaluating your steps to get there.
3. If you haven’t already created SMART goals from the previous action steps, go ahead and do so. Then write it down and put it into a place you’ll see it often, decide on the metrics you’ll measure yourself against, and go forth.  It’s a journey.  There are some days it’ll feel like you're running against a brick wall. It hurts, and let me just tell you know that this is normal and it is 100% ok.

Action Items. 

1.  Where are you drifting in life?  Are you eating or drinking too much, not paying attention to your health? Or are you spending too much time on TV, social media, or paying attention to bad news?  It’s time to course correct and go back to a healthy level.
2. After you’re done drifting, it’s good to course correct.  This is when you look at where you want to go, and then decide based on where you currently are what you have to do to get back on track.  It’s not an overnight process. It takes time, and that’s ok.
3. What is going on in your life that you don’t like right now?  Now, ask yourself what about it you can control, and what you can’t.  Please don’t immediately dismiss this and say nothing is in your control. If nothing else, there is mindset which is your choice.

1. Who are a few people that you can reach out to right now and ask if they’d like to have a virtual talk with a cup of coffee or tea.  A 20 minute talk can do more than you’d think.
2. What are your goals in your career?  Look for a couple of events that can help you meet people that are in the sector of your goals. 
3. What do you want your personal brand to be?  Think about what you want others to say about you and your reputation, and then let that guide how you act at work, at home, and on social media.

1.  Take this curiosity concept, and go have a conversation with someone.  Take note of how much you’re speaking versus they are talking.  Also, actually listen to them. Try to understand the meaning behind what they are saying versus accepting it at face value.  A conversation is like an iceberg.  90% of the content is underneath the water.  

2.  When you’re talking with someone if you’ve really hit it off, ask this question: “If I could wave a magic wand and help you achieve your goals, what would that look like?”
