The Celtics fall to the 76ers 106-103 after a horrible effort from both of the Jays. The Celtics were down 14pts with just 2:04 left and they were able to manage an excellent comeback due to some excellent defensive plays, JB finally hitting 2 big 3s and Porzingis playing great but the Celtics didn't deserve to win this one. Offensively they were all over the place and that started with the Jays. JB was bad in this with 4turnovers and just 11pts (6pts in the final 2 minutes) and Tatum had just 16 himself. They are way to talented of a duo to go out there and have Porzingis outscore them both combined.

With that being said, we did see a solid performance from both Porzingis and Hauser which was good to see but you really just need more from your two All-NBA wings. The Celtics shot just 32% from 3 and 39% from the field which is not good enough to win many games. They have a tough road ahead facing off against the Knicks and Nets who have played them tough and Philly again next Wednesday with a Raptors game thrown in the mix there as well so these next 4 games will be huge for them to bounce back.

The Celtics lose in OT to the Timberwolves 114-109 in a game that was just sloppy from start to finish. We saw solid games from our guys but none of them were complete. Tatum scored 32pts but had 6 turnovers. JB scored 26 alongside 4ast but missed a wide open 3 that could've won the game in regulation. Porzingis scored 20pts but went scoreless in the 4th quarter. Jrue has 12pts 11reb 6ast but shot 4-16 from the field. Again, everyone had their highlights but nobody put together a complete performance and when you are missing Derrick White, you need at least one guy to go out and dominate and the Celtics did not have that.

This is not a game where you need to start freaking out and talking about trading everyone but there are some weaknesses to this team but that also means there are areas for them to improve on which is a scary thought considering how good they have looked this season. Derrick White should be available to play on Wednesday against Philly which should bode well for the Celtics as they look to turn this around and get another W in the books!

The Celtics come out hot once again blow the doors off the Pacers in an unbelievable 155-104 win. After watching the Celtics underestimate and come out slow against inferior teams last year, they seem more poised and up to the task this year as they have back to back blow outs. They got out to a very hot start ending the first quarter up 44-27 on 76% from the field and 72% from 3. While those shooting numbers were destined to come down to earth a bit, we saw the Celtics extend that lead to 21 at the half and then 38 after the 3rd which led to another short night for our starters as we saw an all bench lineup in the 4th and even they extended the lead!

We saw really impressive performances throughout but this was highlighted by Jayson Tatum. Tatum ended the game with 30pts 12reb and was super aggressive getting to the rim and it resulted in him going 9-10 from the FT line. After struggling in the first 3 games of the season, even Hauser and Pritchard had phenomenal games. Hauser ended the night with 17pts on 5-6 from 3 and Pritchard ended the game with 15pts 4reb and 9ast and was a true floor general in this one getting guys involved left and right. We all know the bench is this teams only real weakness but even they looked great in this one!

While the first games of the season resulted in wins, their play was far from perfect but they righted the ship tonight. This game was never even close from the jump. JB led the charge early with 27pts at half on 7-10 shooting from 3 which led to a 77-51 lead at halftime. With Daniel Gafford out for the Wizards, they opted to go small and the Celtics took full advantage of that getting to the rim with ease. they continued their impressive defense as well adding in 7stl and 5blk in that first half.

The Celtics continued their dominance in the third quarter and we eventually saw a JB & Tatum 30 by 30 game which is always fun. they grew that lead up to 37pts. The 4th quarter was a completely different story once we played our entire bench as we were outscored 32-18 but it was already over at that point. While there are certainly some valid concerns about our bench, when you have such a strong top 6, the bench isn't going to be getting much time regardless. I would like to see guys like Svi and Stevens get more run with the normal rotational guys just to see if they gel because Hauser has certainly struggled to start this season at the wing position.

The Celtics face off against the Miami Heat in their home opener and come out with a . This game started off sloppy for the Celtics missing a lot of layups at the rim and it led to the Celtics falling down by as many as 13 in the first quarter. That is when Mazzulla subbed in Brissett who brought a ton of energy and 2oreb which sparked a huge Celtics run bringing the deficit to only 2 at the end of the quarter. While the Heat stuck around for most of the 2nd quarter, the Celtics ended the half on a 17-6 run in large part to big scoring quarters for both Tatum (11pts) and JB (8pts) which led to a 60-55 halftime lead.

While the third quarter was an absolute battle and was one that the Celtics did not win. They found themselves down 88-87 after three but turned on the the jets in the 4th and it all started with Derrick White. White ended the game with a team high 28pts but 14 of those came in that 4th quarter and on top of that, he was sensational on the defensive end highlighted by a chase down block on Butler in transition. After a tough season opener for JB, he came back strong with 27pts including 12 in the 4th and a couple of huge buckets down the stretch. We're two games in and both of them were ugly wins BUT they were both wins. These were the types of games we lost last year so it is great to see them pull together down the stretch when it matters most.

After a very busy off-season for the Celtics, meaningful basketball is officially back!!! The Celtics started off the regular season with a big 108-104 win over the Knicks. They came out of the gates on fire outscoring the Knicks 30-18 in the 1st and everything was working beautifully. Porzingis seemed to fit in seamlessly adding 15pts. On top of that, the defense looked incredible. We saw the Celtics switch 1-4 on almost everything and Porzingis dropped back and defended the rim and it forced the Knicks into some very tough shots leading to them shooting just 27%.

While the Celtics looked unstoppable in that first quarter, this game was a rollercoaster throughout. In the 2nd and 3rd quarter, the Celtics watched multiple double digit leads get down to 4 and we even saw the Knicks take a lead in the 4th quarter. After taking a 1pt lead after Tatum Fts, JB had a horrible turnover that led to a transition 3 from Randle. Then we turned the ball over again and JB fouled Grimes on an And 1 from 3 so in a matter of seconds, the Knicks went on a 7-0 run taking a 6pt lead. It seemed like they were dead in the water and then Porzingis rose to the occasion with 6FTs and a 3 late in the game pushing the Celtics to a big victory!

The Celtics absolutely demolished the Hornets from start to finish in this one. We saw all 5 starters play 23 minutes and they were nothing short of spectacular in those 23 minutes amassing an 81-54 lead before being subbed out midway through the third quarter. This game was dictated by the defense. They ended the game with 22 steals which is a franchise record and is absurd to think of but it led to a lot of very easy buckets. Every single starter had at least 1 steal with Tatum and Holiday leading the way with 3 steals each. On top of that we saw Porzingis have a nice block at the rim and then White added another 3 blocks! The entire starting group was just so much fun to watch.

As fun as they were, the bench wasn’t far off. We saw a lot of impressive performances throughout the bench in this one highlighted by Pritchard and Queta. While Pritchard had a poor shooting night, he ended the night with a team high 8ast and was running the show really well. Queta was the next guy that truly shined. In just 13 minutes, he added 12pts and 7reb with 5 of those being on the offensive end. The Celtics played 16 different guys tonight and every single one of them scored which was also awesome to see. It is a preseason game so you can’t read into it too much but it was certainly a fun game to watch and a great way to end the preseason!

The Celtics beat the Knicks in their 4th preseason game . After nearly an entire week off, the Celtics played what felt like their normal starting lineup and rotations through most of this game. They did opt for the 2 guard lineup with Derrick White and Jrue Holiday sending Horford to the bench. Al Horford was the first guy off the bench and we saw Joe stick to an 8 man rotation most of the night with Pritchard and Hauser earning most of those minutes. This game was something special to watch. Every single person in the Celtics top 8 can stretch the floor so the spacing was incredible all night long which led to a preseason record 23 made 3-pointers. Tatum looked like he was in midseason form with 28pts 8reb and 4ast on 5-8 from 3 and his running mate JB was solid for most of it as well. He did have some turnovers but he also led the team in assists with 6. The JB Porzingis pick and roll game was elite tonight and something I am looking forward to this season.

Porzingis may have been the most impressive in this game though adding 20pts and 8reb. I already talked about how impressive his pick and roll offense was in this one with JB but the pick and roll defense was also incredible. One thing that bummed me out about today's game was the fact that we didn't see any Svi or Queta minutes. I'm not surprised at all that we didn't see Gabriel who has been bad this preseason but Queta has shown signs of being serviceable and Svi has looked great. In a game where most of our regulars were out there, it would've been nice to see how/if guys like Svi or Queta would fit into a role. With that said, this was a fun game to watch on the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

The Celtics beat Philly once again 112-101. As I've said several times at this point, scores don't matter in preseason but you want to see how players perform so you can start to put together rotations for the regular season. The Celtics didn't play Tatum or Brown in this one but we did see some lineups with Al and Porzingis alongside White, Jrue and Hauser and that lineup played really well. Last year, if the Celtics put out a lineup without both Tatum and Brown, it was bad news but this lineup still had 5 guys who can shoot and two guys capable of scoring 30pts on any given night. The Celtics have so much versatility in top end talent this year so Joe will have a lot of flexibility as far as rotations go. We're 3 games into preseason and it seems like an absolute no brainer that Payton Pritchard is going to step into a serious rotational role this year. After 2 monster performances in the first two games, he came out tonight and put up another 17pts. The shooting wasn't as lights out as the first two games but he still looked super solid and could be right in that 7th man position.

After two duds, Hauser did step up and shoot pretty well adding in 15pts on 4-9 from 3. While Hauser did perform, his biggest competition minutes wise is probably Svi Mykhailiuk and Svi didn't disappoint once again. He also added 15pts on 5-6 from the field and he can do something that Hauser cannot and that is put the ball on the floor and create for himself which is a huge asset. Outside of those 3 guys, there aren't a lot of options for consistent rotational minutes. There is a clear lack of front court depth and when you look at that position, we saw Kornet, Queta and Gabriel play today. Kornet played 15 minutes and was pretty useless. Queta saw 8 minutes and actually played significantly better than the last 2 games and didn't foul once which is a huge bonus. Gabriel also got 8 minutes in this one but once again, put up a dud. While there isn't a ton of depth at the front court, it is undeniable that there are a lot of shooters on this team which should make for a very fun season.
