Preseason Game #2 is in the books and while they didn't pull out the victory, my statement about preseason games still stands. Scores don't matter. We saw some good performances and we saw some bad performances. Without reading too much into it and dubbing guys stars or not, this is strictly about today's game vs the Knicks. Pritchard, Banton and Svi shined. Hauser and Kornet looked bad. Everyone else was kind of right in the middle. Since everyone seems to be obsessed with Queta and Gabriel, I will say neither of those guys impressed me in the slightest but they looked marginally better than Kornet did. Queta is a big physical guy but might actually be too physical as he was fouling every second he was on the court. Gabriel also looked like he was playing at 1.5x speed and was completely out of control.

Pritchard had a tough start to the game but really pulled it together ending the night with another 20+ pt performance. Banton played really well and as a 6'7" PG adds a lot of versatility to the lineup. He certainly got to the rack a bunch in this one. While they were both great, it seemed like Svi Mykhailiuk surprised me the most. He ended the night with 15pts on 3-7 from 3 but it was the energy that was contagious with him. He caught a transition alley oop from Davison and then had a beautiful putback on a Lamar Stevens miss. He was running everyone and was effective all night. We didn't see any of our top 6 guys but this was certainly a fun tryout for guys 7-15 on the roster and I'm excited to see how this unfolds in the next two preseason games.

Celtics basketball is back and the Celtics faced off against Philly and, in familiar fashion, take them down once again 114-106. I say this every year but scores and shooting percentages don't matter during preseason. The only thing that you should be focusing on is the quality of shots we're taking, defensive schemes we're running and the cohesion between the guys out there. One thing that caught me by surprise in this one was the starting lineup featuring Horford instead of Jrue Holiday. I can't imagine that stays very long but that lineup did pretty well. Initial thoughts on both of our big additions this offseason are incredible. Porzingis dominated this game early scoring 7 very fast points on his way to a 17pt 5reb game. Jrue Holiday, while he only shot 2-10 from the field was a menace on the defensive end contributing 2 steals.

While all eyes were on the starting unit and Jrue Holiday, it was Payton Pritchard that shined the brightest. He ended the night with 26pts 2reb and 4ast on 6-11 from deep and 9-14 from the field. He was super solid all night long on both sides of the ball. I love that Pritchard can shoot but the part of his game that I love the most is his ability to push the pace and get out in transition. I know this is preseason but with the departure of Smart and Brogdon, our depth at PG certainly did shrink opening up the possibility of Pritchard stepping into a rotational player role. Tatum struggled creating his own shot tonight BUT you could certainly tell that he put on muscle because he was very aggressive down low and it showed with his 9FT attempts. JB continued to show out in transition and ended the night 19pts on 7-10 from the field. Overall, this team looked great and we are in for a fun year.

There has been a lot of offseason movement this year but the Celtics are poised now, better than they have in a long time, to make a serious run at Banner 18. We break it all down in this podcast. Check it out!

Boston Celtics Media Day is here, training camp has started, and all is right in the world. With Jrue Holiday just being traded yesterday, he was not present at Media Day but there was plenty to talk about. We heard a lot about Kristaps Porzingis and the impact he was going to make here. There was a lot of talk about leadership from both of the Jays. Despite no Jrue Holiday being present, there was a lot of talk about the impact he is going to make and the seamless integration everyone is expecting with him. This was a very fun Media Day after an even busier off-season.

The Celtics traded Timelord and Brogdon for Jrue Holiday and have immediately become the favorites to win the NBA Finals and bring in Banner 18. The Celtics lost an unbelievable perimeter defender in Marcus Smart when we traded for Kristaps Porzingis and Brad made sure to replace that and then some. Jrue Holiday is arguably the best perimeter defender in the entire NBA so this bolsters our switch heavy defense even more. This is a massive move that definitely leaves the Celtics front court thin so I would expect more moves to come! With Media Day tomorrow, it is an exciting time to be a Celtics fan!

In an offseason that was as busy as it gets in the beginning, we definitely saw a lull for a few weeks. Now, we have the In-Season Tournament schedule out so we talk about that alongside some breaking news on the Porzingis injury. We also talk about Wyc's comments on the future of the Celtics!

After making us wait what feels like a lifetime, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics finally agree to a 5 year $304 Million contract!!! Some important things to note about this deal. It does include a trade kicker so if the Celtics do decide to trade him down the line, it will cost a little more BUT they did get a team option in the final year of the contract so they do have more leverage in trade talks because they control his 5th year. With that being said, this deal also triggers a 12 month period where he can't be traded so the peace and quiet will be nice for a change!

In these last 3 weeks, Celtics fans have been floating what-if scenarios left and right about the Celtics future and what direction Brad Stevens wants to take this franchise. Brad has made it very clear that he wants to build around their two pillars (Tatum and Brown) and every move he has made makes it seem like that is the truth. Despite all of the rumors and what-if scenarios, Jaylen Brown and the Boston Celtics have finally made it happen. 5 Years and $304 Million later, the Celtics have committed to Jaylen Brown for the foreseeable future.

With Jaylen Brown inked into his new deal, he remains a part of what is going to be a very exciting but very expensive Big 3. This offseason, the Celtics brought in Kristaps Porzingis in a deal that sent out Marcus Smart. Porzingis is coming off of, arguably, the best season of his career where he averaged 23.2 points per game alongside 8.4 rebounds per game. This is the best big man we have seen in Boston since Kevin Garnett and he will undoubtedly bring a new dynamic to this team. This new Big 3 will have two elite shot creators and makers on the wing and a Center who can stretch the floor but also post you up and score down low. All 3 of them have their own defensive strengths which should make for an incredible season for Boston as they chase the illusive Banner 18.

The Celtics beat the Magic in their final Summer League Game 94-77. At this point, Banton and Jordan Walsh are both on standard contracts and Scrubb and Davison are both signed to 2-Way deals. With that being said, all 4 of them either didn't play or played limited minutes in this one. There is still one more 2-Way contract to be given out so this game was more of a tryout for that final spot. I would expect there to be a decision made on that in the next couple days but this was a fun game to watch the rest of the guys get their shots. Champagnie and Bean seem like the natural fits for the final 2-Way deal as they are both tall wings that can shoot which seems to be the biggest need for the Celtics at this point but we also saw good minutes from some bigs as well. Either way, I don't think any of these 2-Way guys are going to mean much for the actual Celtics but it is always good to keep talent in system and try to develop them.

The Celtics fall to the Knicks 97-89 and fall to 1-3 this Summer League. Unlike the regular season where the only thing that matters is the result, in Summer League the process is the important part and the result doesn't really matter. In Summer League you want to see how guys play, who can do what and does that fit into what the Boston Celtics are trying to do. Banton and Walsh both played well in this one as the only 2 on guaranteed contracts. Davison, who is on a 2-Way already, didn't look very good. Now there are still two 2-Way deals left to be signed and my guy Jay Scrubb put together another solid performance proving that one of them should go his way. Champagnie was another one who willed this team to a near comeback with 12pts in the second half as he was raining 3s. The Celtics have one more Summer League game and then it's time to make some decisions on these guys.
