Jordan Walsh bounced back after a tough game 2 and led the Celtics to a 95-90 win over the Lakers. The Celtics found themselves down double digits and Walsh came out with a 17pt second half. Overall, fun game for the C's as it's always fun beating the Lakers. Outside of Walsh, Scrubb and Banton also played excellent in this one. Scrubb continues to be my pick for a 2way spot atfer 3 straight impressive performances. Banton, despite a horrible shooting night, played really well. He's a long athletic guard that can handle the ball well and is not afraid to shoot. Tonight was his first game back from injury so it was understandable that the shot was off but the rest of his game looked great.

The Celtics played in their first summer league game last night and, while this is usually the case, there were some players that stood out and some players that were flat out bad. We break them all down in this episode. Check it out!

First Smart and now Grant. Both of the Celtics bulldogs have officially been moved. Grant Williams was moved to Dallas in a 3 team trade that brought back 2 future second round picks alongside a future second round pick swap as well as a 6.3Mill TPE. Now, this move on paper seems like a cap saving move freeing up approximately $40Mill between salary and luxury tax BUT this to me seems like Brad is gearing up for another splash.

After turning a first round pick in this years draft into 4 future second round picks and Jordan Walsh, Brad just added 2 more second round picks and a pick swap into the mix. These are all bargaining chips in trades and I wouldn't rule out another big name coming back. No, I do not mean Damian Lillard but the Celtics have the assets to bring back a really good rotational piece.

In the most confusing draft to follow if you're a Celtics fan, Brad Stevens somehow turned the 25th overall pick into Jordan Walsh and 4 future second round picks. Originally, the Celtics actually owned the 35th pick in this years draft but traded that as part of the Smart/Porzingis deal which netted us the 25th pick. During last nights draft we traded back from 25 to 31 adding 2 future second round picks. From there we traded the 31st pick for the 34th and 39th pick. Once the 34th pick came we traded that for the 38th pick and a future second round pick where we eventually drafted Jordan Walsh. We also traded the 39th pick for a future second round pick. It was a very confusing night but that is how everything shook out. The question now becomes, WHY? At pick 25, very rarely are you finding a player who can come in and contribute at a very high level. Also at 25, because it is a first round pick, that player is guaranteed a contract. Once that pick dropped to the 2nd round, the Celtics opened up the ability to add a $5Mill MLE guy and opened up the possibility of adding Walsh to a 2 way contract giving him time to develop if needed.

Jordan Walsh is a 6'7" elite wing defender from Arkansas with a 7'3" wingspan. He is a very versatile defender that has a very high motor. After losing Smart in that Porzingis deal, we lost one of our only guys that would go out and make all of the diving hustle plays and that is exactly who Walsh is. He will dive on the floor for every loose ball, run around constantly with his hands up trying to make plays on the defensive end. He is a dog through and through. With that being said, one might ask, why did he drop so low in the draft? His offensive game is very limited. He is not a good shooter whatsoever. The mechanics look fine and it might be something he can develop like Grant Williams did. For those that don't remember, Grant came into this league and shot 25% from 3 his rookie season and is now a 40% 3pt shooter. Walsh's floor is a very good defensive player but his ceiling is a high energy 3 and D guy with the right development, something that Cassell is really good at. It's not a sexy pick but turning 1 pick into a player and 4 future second round draft picks is a solid draft.

The Celtics were part of a 3 team trade with Memphis and Washington sending Marcus Smart to the Grizzlies and Gallo and Muscala to the Wizards with Porzingis and 2 first round picks in return. Tyus Jones was also sent from Memphis to Washington in this trade but nobody really cares about that. Basketball is a ruthless business. Marcus Smart, the heart and soul of this team is gone. He was one of those guys that was the definition of what it means to be a Celtic. He was active in the community and loved by most. There were certainly some that didn't like his game but they can't deny this hurts. On paper, trading Smart, Gallo and Muscala for Porzingis and 2 first round picks is a win but that doesn't change the fact that it hurts.

Porzingis has certainly dealt with his fair share of injuries but he is coming off of one of his best seasons playing 65 games and averaged 23pts and 8reb. He is 27 years old which fits in perfectly with Tatum and Brown as he is just reaching his peak now. The issue, and I'm assuming this gets resolved quickly, is his contract. Right now, he is only on a one year deal so trading Smart for a one year rental seems ridiculous to me. I would assume they agreed upon the framework of an extension prior to the trade. With all that being said, Porzingis is a 7'3" Center that has a great post game and can stretch the floor as well. He shot 38.5% from 3 last year which fits in perfectly but you also get a guy that is one of the best pick and roll defenders in the league. At 7'3" he is soo long making the pick and roll very hard to maneuver which is something we have desperately struggled with over the years. Again, on paper, this is a really good trade if he stays healthy but it is a shot to the gut and won't feel better until we raise Banner 18.

Well, the 2022-2023 season has come to an end after a very tough loss to Miami in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. This off-season is going to be quiet and loud at the same time if that's possible. I don't expect there to be much movement for the core of this team and Brad has already made it clear that Joe Mazzula is going to remain in the Head Coaching role. In this podcast we break down the coaching situation, whether or not JB will get the Supermax or get traded and what moves might be on the horizon for the Celtics. Tune in!

The Celtics historical comeback falls short as they lose Game 7 103-84. This was truly a horrible showing from start to finish. The very first possession for the Celtics resulted in Tatum rolling an ankle and he was left grimacing all game long. With Tatum going down, all fans turn to JB and expect him to pick up the slack and then he comes out with an 8 turnover game on an extremely inefficient shooting night. The only Celtics player that showed up and played with heart was Derrick White and even he got hurt and missed the majority of the 4th quarter. The 3pt shot was the reason that we won 57 games this year and was a huge part of our identity but we came out here and laid an egg in this one. The Celtics started this game 0-10 from 3 and only ended the game shooting 9-42 (21%) from 3. Honestly, I liked most of the attempts that they had but nothing was falling.

Brogdon, our 6th Man of the Year, was just coming off of an injury and only played in 7 minutes tonight but managed to do the impossible and was a -15 in those 7 minutes. Smart, who was exceptional through most of this series, was a nonfactor in this one. Horford didn't do much. Grant was a nonfactor. Timelord actually played really well in his minutes but his minutes were limited. That is the only major critique I have from Joe in this game. We should have seen more minutes from Timelord but outside of that, there's not much you can do about this from a rotation standpoint. Give credit to Miami for battling through this and winning a game that nobody expected them to win after nearly blowing a 3-0 series lead.

CELTICS WIN!! CELTICS WIN!! Derrick White hits an incredible putback at the buzzer to win 104-103 forcing a Game 7 back in Boston!!! This was a game that the Celtics led by as many as 10 with just over 4 minutes left in the game and they started walking the ball up and forcing things and we watched Miami walk the lead down little by little. The Celtics found themselves up 2 with :16 left and then Horford fouled Butler on a 3pt shot. Butler, naturally, hit all 3 FTs taking a 1pt lead with just :03 left. During the inbounds, JB and Tatum couldn't get open so the ball ended up in Smart's hands and he immediately turns around, shoots and misses but Derrick frickin White was there for the putback at the buzzer!! It certainly wasn't a perfect game but it doesn't matter if you win by 1 or 21. A win is a win and with this win, we have now become the 4th team to ever force a Game 7 after going down 0-3. No team has ever won a series after being down 0-3 so the Celtics are looking to make history Monday night! Go Celtics!!

WOW!!! Celtics blow out the Heat once again 110-97 forcing a Game 6 back in Miami!! This was another flawless performance from the Celtics start to finish. It started with a 15-5 lead in the first 5 minutes because of their 3 early steals and that set the tone for the rest of the game. The Celtics got back to their roots and played phenomenal defense in this one. They had 13 steals in this one and ended up scoring 27pts off of Miami's 16 turnovers. This was a team effort on the defensive end. What was especially impressive was the defense played on both Jimmy and Bam. We held Jimmy to 14pts and Bam to just 16 but turned him over 6 times as well. Every time Bam put the ball on the floor, JB or Smart was there poking the ball away forcing turnover after turnover. On top of the excellent defense, we saw a really solid offensive performance.

Marcus Smart was great in this one contributing 23pts on a super efficient 4-6 from 3. Derrick White was the leading scorer with 24pts on a ridiculous 6-8 from 3. Jayson Tatum, while the 3s weren't falling, was doing a great job facilitating. He ended the night with 21pts and 11ast. He was doubled a lot in this one, as he has been most of this series, but he did a great job of recognizing it early and finding the right guy. He was also much more aggressive getting into the heart of the defense. JB, who has struggled most of this series, shot his way out of the funk and looked really good in this one on both sides of the ball as well. The Celtics as a team shot 16-39 (41%) from 3. When you combine that with the defense that we played holding Miami to just 97pts, you are going to win a lot of games. The Celtics managed to take a 3-0 series and force a Game 6 after two convincing wins. Can they do it again on Saturday to force a Game 7? We shall find out soon!
