Celtics came out today with no Tatum, Smart, Horford, or Brogdon along with Timelord and Kornet who were out due to injury still and still managed to pull off an impressive win 112-103 over the Charlotte Hornets. JB and Derrick White both showed out tonight but it was Derrick White who looked most impressive. This whole preseason he has looked great but he ran this offense at a very high level today ending the game with 18pts 4reb and 6ast shooting 6-10 from the field. He was aggressive all night getting to the rack but his outside shot seemed to be falling as well.

This game was far from perfect as the Celtics still turned the ball over 20 times allowing 25 pts off those turnovers and they also let up 17 offensive rebounds but if you look at the roster we threw out there tonight, this is as impressive as it gets. The Hornets ran out a pretty normal starting lineup and ended up playing their starters the majority of the game and we were deep in our bench playing guys like Layman, Jackson, Vonleh and Samanic who aren't even on NBA contracts at this point and likely won't be by the time the season starts. While Jackson was listed before this, he had a great second half ending the game with 16pts and 4reb on 4-8 shooting from deep. Vonleh was another guy that played really well in the second half ending the game with 14pts and 13reb. Either way, this is an impressive win with a roster that was missing 5 of their top 7 guys.

Celtics lost to the Raptors tonight 125-119 in OT but as I said after last game, the final score of a preseason game doesn't matter. What matters is how everyone plays and the fluidity that we see from our guys. Tonight, we saw a lot of great things. Sam Hauser was by far the most impressive as he ended the game with 22pts on 5-8 from 3 and a couple of impressive drives and stepbacks. JB came out as a first quarter god once again and we saw Jayson Tatum play the way he needs to play. His 3pt shot wasn't falling again tonight as he was 0-7 from deep BUT he was super aggressive getting to the rim tonight which you love to see. Malcolm Brogdon, once again, led the team in assists and showed how truly unselfish he is after passing up an easy transition layup to give Tatum a wide open dunk.

Joe Mazzula took our starters out with about 4:00 to go in the third quarter and the Celtics had a 19pt lead at that point. It was then put on some deeeep bench guys as well as guys that don't even have NBA contracts to close out the game. Unfortunately, they couldn't pull it off but this was still a very impressive game from the boys in green. CELTICS BASKETBALL IS BACK!!! There is nothing sweeter than heading into our first preseason game and seeing them blow out a team. I have said it several times but you shouldn't focus on the score and who wins or loses a preseason game. You need to focus on how they are playing the game and they played pretty damn well today. It wasn't all perfect as they still struggled with 23 Turnovers but overall, this was a very impressive game all around.

We saw Sam Hauser come out guns a-blazing finishing with 14pts on 4-5 from 3. We saw Kapangele and Vonleh both contribute at a pretty high level. Kapangele looked like he belonged on the court with all these guys and provided a Rob Lite experience. Grant looked phenomenal carrying over his hot shooting from last year. Brogdon was phenomenal leading the team with 9 assists. JB looked unstoppable. What's more impressive than the individual performances is the fact that the Celtics had 41 assists on 48 makes and shot 46.8% from 3. Obviously, that sort of shooting is not sustainable but you love seeing this type of performance early on where they haven't really built any chemistry together. It's a good sign of things to come!

I got married this past weekend which explains my hiatus from the podcasting world BUT I am back and ready to attack this new season so here we go!

We had a very busy offseason highlighted by the acquisition of both Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Gallinari! THEN Robert Williams announces he is having Arthroscopic Knee Surgery to clean up his knee. NOW we hear that Ime Udoka had a consensual relationship with a member of the Celtics staff and is potentially facing a YEAR LONG SUSPENSION! After a promising start to the offseason, there seems to be a dark cloud circling the heads of the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics came out firing tonight and started the game off with a 12-2 lead. Everything seemed to be working for the first 4 minutes lol. Then the Warriors went on a ridiculous 35-10 run including a 21-0 run in the mix that completely shut the Celtics out. Turnovers remained an issue as the Warriors scored 20pts off our 23 turnovers (which is the second most in an NBA Finals Game). The Celtics also gave up 15 offensive boards tonight which drives me crazy considering the size of the lineup we roll out.

We got really solid contributions tonight from JB (scored 34 of the teams 90pts), Al Horford (19pts 14reb) and Timelord (5blocks) but it was the other guys that set us up for failure. Jayson Tatum is an extraordinary talent in this league but he was bad tonight. He scored only 13pts on 6-18 from the field with 5 turnovers. Tatum needs to be better in these big spots. Our bench was also a huge negative tonight. Grant, White and Pritchard combined for just 5 pts and gave the Celtics almost no good minutes which really hurts considering how good they've been throughout this season. This is a tough one to swallow

Okay so let's talk positives: Celtics did a much better job of staying attached to Curry's hip and forcing him to take tough shots. They held Curry to just 16pts on 0-9 from 3.

Now let's talk negatives, it wasn't enough. Celtics shut down Curry but Wiggins went off and Klay Thompson woke up as well. Defensively, this was actually a really solid game so we can leave it there. Offensively, the Celtics missed 10 FTs and gave up 22pts on 18 TOs. Turnovers and Free Throws have been an issue all postseason and continued tonight. The Celtics are now forced to win back to back including a potential Game 7 in San Francisco assuming they take care of business in Boston in Game 6 on Thursday.

Turnovers, rebounding and poor shot selection down the stretch led to this extremely disappointing 107-97 loss to tie the series 2-2. We saw a Jayson Tatum masterclass in the first quarter where he scored 12 pts and was super efficient. From there, he only scored 9pts the remaining 3 quarters and ended up shooting 8-23 from the field. JB had a killer start to the 4th with 6 quick points to build a lead back up but then disappeared down the stretch. I know this is oversimplifying it but those two need to be better. They are the pillars of this team and need to show up when it matters most.

This was a game where I thought Robert Williams played great. He played his normal disruptor role and was excellent all night leading up to the 4th quarter where he looked like he was wobbling around a bit which is a bit concerning given his injury history. Derrick White was the other role player that I thought played great. His shooting wasn't super efficient but he was one of the only guys out there that was super aggressive getting to the rim and hit some huge shots. This game really boils down to rebounding, turnovers and better shot selection down the stretch. You can't let Curry and Wiggins get 10 and 16 rebounds respectively. You can't allow 19pts off 16 TOs. You can't let the offense stagnate and settle for contested 3s for 4 minutes straight at the end of the game. This would've been a big win but I stand by my prediction before the series started. Celtics in 6 Baby.

In a game where the Celtics were up 12pts at halftime, the Celtics grinded out a win after another horrible 3rd quarter performance. It's hard to say they grinded out a116-100 win but this was as grind it out as it gets considering how great we played for 3 of the 4 quarters but that 3rd quarter was brutal. This win is everything you want to see though. They continued to show their resiliency and we saw team ball once again. Both of the Jays showed up and played great today.

Despite Marcus Smart having a couple of boneheaded turnovers, he also contributed in a major way coming up with clutch loose balls per usual but also hitting a couple massively important shots including a huge stretch to end the first half. After the big 3, we finally saw a Timelord game. He looked back to normal and got back to his super efficient rebounding numbers but also added in 4 blocks while fighting over some tough screens. There really isn't much to say from a negative perspective in this one.

They cleaned up the turnover a bit but when they did turn the ball over, they were all live ball turnovers that led to points so that still needs to be a point of emphasis for them. They still need to fix the damn free throw shooting. but other than that, they did a great job cleaning up the glass tonight. Those are the 3 keys to game 4. Control the glass, limit the turnovers and hit your free throws. Do those 3 things and they can walk out of the Garden on Friday up 3-1 with only 1 win remaining before Banner 18.

The goal for every team in the playoffs is to steal a game on the road and that is what the Celtics did in Game 1. Tonight was a very different story in a very embarrassing loss but the last fact remains true. The Celtics took back home court advantage. People want to blame this on the refs and I'm not going to sit here and say they were good but this is 100% on the Celtics. They gave up 33pts off of 19 turnovers. You are never going to win a game playing like that. This was a weird game because the Celtics came out and played pretty well in the 1st quarter but the wheels fell off shortly after.

Tatum, despite having 28pts, was a team worst -36 while having 4 turnovers and failed to get back allowing easy buckets. JB came out firing and had 13pts after the first on 4-6 from the field and then ended the game with just 17pts on 5-17 from the field meaning he shot 1-11 in the last 3 quarters. Horford, who led the team in scoring in Game 1, only had 2pts tonight and it was also pretty apparent that Timelord is still not right. Marcus Smart also struggled today scoring just 2 pts on 1-6 from the field with 5 turnovers. It's a tough loss for sure but it's time to head back to Boston and defend home court now.

The Celtics came out and played the best 4th quarter of basketball I have ever seen. They outscored the Warriors 40-16 in the 4th quarter to steal game 1 on the road 120-108. After falling behind by 12 after the third quarter, JB stepped up in a major way and took over the start of the 4th to get the Celtics back in it. Derrick White and Al Horford both played phenomenal tonight as well scoring 17 combined pts in that 4th while hitting clutch shot after clutch shot. This was a fun one but it's not all good.

Jayson Tatum while he did add 13 assists to the mix, needs to be better on the offensive end. He scored on 12pts on 3-17 from the field so he's a guy that needs to be better come game 2. Offensive rebounds have always been something that haunts this Celtics team and tonight we gave up 12 of them as well as 11 second chance pts in the third quarter because of them. We also gave up too many wide open 3s to Curry early in this one but they did clean that up. Curry had 21 pts in the first and only 13pts in the remaining 3 quarters. It's not a perfect win but it feels pretty damn good. 3 more wins till Banner 18!
