After missing his last 20 3pt attempts, Jayson Tatum absolutely erupts for 51 points leading the Celtics to a 116-87 win over the Wizards. This was a masterful performance from Tatum scoring 51 and adding in 10reb and 7ast on 18-28 from the field and 9-14 from 3. This was an all time Tatum performance where he was getting absolutely anything he wanted which was certainly good to see after all the criticism he received leading up to this. While Tatum did the majority of the scoring today, the Celtics did a great job of hitting shots and moving the ball tonight as well. They ended the night shooting 49% from 3 and had 26ast on 40 makes which is extremely impressive. This is another part of the season where you can't get too high after a win like this but it certainly feels nice coming out with a blowout win. The Celtics return to action again Tuesday night against the Kings hoping to get back over .500 on the season.

Here we are with another game and another epic 4th quarter collapse. The Celtics lost 109-105 to the Trailblazers after leading 100-89 with 7:35 left. Yes, you read that correct. We scored 5 points in the final 7:35 and all of them were free throws that came with less than a minute left. Not a single field goal made which is just unacceptable for a team with 2 all star level talents (I don't think either should make the all star game). Scal called this the most frustrating loss of the season and he may be right. We've had some pretty horrible collapses in the past but I can't recall another 7 minute scoreless stretch in my life from this team. The only bright spots in this game were Romeo and Grant who both played really well both offensively and defensively but it got outshined by the poor finish. Tatum has now missed every single one of his last 20 3pt attempts and what makes it worse is that he had Nurkic on a mismatch tonight with a chance to win the game and he tried a stepback 3. All game long, Tatum was driving at Nurkic and getting to the FT line and he had the opportunity to turn the corner on him tonight and he opted for the 3pt shot. This team just cannot figure it out.

The Charlotte Hornets play the exact brand of basketball we would all love to see from the Celtics. They are a team that runs the floor every possession, has 2 guards that love to drive and dish and then have plenty of guys around them that knock down open shots. The funny thing about this loss is that the Celtics actually moved the ball really well tonight but once again, guys were simply not hitting shots. The two Jays shot a combined 2-18 from 3 and the team ended shooting 14-46 (30.4%) which is never going to get it done. This is a game where you really miss having Timelord and Smart but you still need to go out and battle and that just didn't happen tonight. This was a tough one.

This was truly a tale of two halves. The Celtics came out horrible in this one both offensively and defensively. We got outscored 29-18 in the first and started the second horrible as well getting down by as much as 18 points. The Pelicans took advantage of the pick and roll, turnovers and also their youth resulting in them running up and down the court every possession tonight and in the first half, the Celtics weren't getting back enough. They fell into the trap on taking too many threes and found themselves down big. They did make some adjustments in the middle of the second and got the deficit down to 7 which was huge. 

The second half was when the Celtics turned on the jets and took over this game. The biggest difference in the second half was shot selection. They attacked the basket hard starting in the third and kept that rolling the rest of the way which paid off big for them. They outscored the Pelicans 32-23 in the third and 33-23 in the fourth and a lot of it was on the back of Tatum, Brown and Schroder. All 3 of them stepped up in major ways down the stretch which was good to see after a very rough start for both Jaylen and Jayson. This was a game where we got very little contributions from our bench but we saw another really solid game from Grant who got the start today in place of Timelord who was out today because he was having a child. All in all, you hate to see the Celtics fall down by 18 to a bad team like the Pelicans but as I've said over and over, every win counts at this point.
