In this episode, I speak with Andrew and Maria Lodola-Price about their experience with parkrun and what parkrun is all about. Andy and Maria both work in the educational sector and put in plenty of full-time hours throughout the week. Every Saturday, they also volunteer their time to make the Wyndham Vale parkrun event as exciting and motivating as possible. They even run themselves most of the time. Their passion and love for what they do shines through brilliantly in this conversation. They enjoy improving the quality of others' lives as much as their own.
Some bullet points to take away from this episode are:
1. Increasing fitness is a bonus... The community of parkrun is the greatest takeaway.
2. Parkrun was started in 2004 in the UK and came to Australia in 2011.
3. Seeing others reach goals and reaching your own creates a feeling of inspiration for wanting to go back again and again.
4. PARKRUN IS FREE!!!
5. Parkrun is not competitive and is inclusive to everyone.
6. You will never finish last!
7. Parkrun forms friendships that can last.
8. Keep an eye out for Junior parkrun!
9. Whatever preconceived notions you might have, just GO. You will love it.
10. Get onto the website and register to get your free barcode and bring a printed copy every time you parkrun.
