Brian interviews Pascal Chan. Pascal is the Senior Director, Transportation, Infrastructure & Construction, at the Canadian Chamber of Commerce. He leads the Canadian Chamber’s Housing and Development Strategy Council, which convenes a diverse array of industry stakeholders to engage with key federal decision makers and address our country’s housing crisis. We talk about housing affordability in The Greater Toronto area today. Over the course of our discussion, we cover the scope of the problem in Canada, why business is concerned about housing, and what policy changes can help to restore affordability.

Brian speaks with Danica Stanciu about volunteering to travel to and work in Ukraine because of the Russian invasion. Originally from Michigan's Upper Peninsula, Danica Stanciu resides in Washington DC, where she built a career in business-to-business sales, working in information technology, health care and the media industries. She is also a mom to two children, Nicolas and Elena, both of whom are in university. She returned a few weeks ago from Kyiv, Ukraine, where she spent the better part of 6 months volunteering, after leaving her executive role at POLITICO, a DC-based news organization covering politics and policy in Washington, Ottawa and Brussels.

She is also an Independent Supervisory Board member in Agroprosperis Bank (in Ukraine). This is a bank with 100% US capital focused on funding to agro sector. I talk with Yulia Kyrpa about life in Kiev in the middle of a war and what she thinks about the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Brian interviews Melanie Paradis. Melanie is the President of Texture Communications and a veteran Conservative campaigner. We talked about her article: “Homesteading and the unfolding feminist revolt. A generation of women is angry. That's showing up in their hobbies, and in their vote intentions.” She writes: “A political shift is happening among Canada’s women. Up until March 2020, it had become taboo to want to stay home with your kids. But COVID lockdowns changed life for moms and dads in ways we still don’t understand. Post-lockdowns, perspectives on family life and parenting have changed. It will have considerable implications for our politics that we have not yet begun to understand, but urgently need to.”
