First is Shilpa Mishra. Shilpa is the managing director of capital advisory services at accounting firm BDO. She talks about Raising Capital in a challenging market. Ron has twenty years of experience in the mortgage business, is a prolific writer of opinion pieces on the market and interest rates and we have a spirited debate where he argues that housing prices are down almost record levels, interest rates won’t be reduced until late 2024 and we all need to adjust. Ron talks about the real estate market, interest rates, the housing affordability crisis, government and central bank policy and what that all means for our biggest asset, our home.

Brian interviews Martin Pelletier. Martin is a Senior Portfolio Manager at Wellington-Altus Private Counsel out of Calgary, Alberta. Martin has over 20 years of public and private market experience. He is a weekly columnist for the Financial Post, which is published every Tuesday. We discuss his thoughts on last year’s rally and how we’re positioned heading into 2024. What worries him the most this year is rising geopolitical events being completely shrugged off by market participants. Russia/Ukraine, Israel/Iran/Gaza, the Red Sea, Venezuela, and potentially China could all cause supply disruptions and increase costs passed along to consumers. Brian interviews Kiki Hurwitt. At 50, Kiki was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic, had very high cholesterol and was severely depressed. Poor mental & physical health was the result of traumatic life events, a life-threatening illness and a corporate career that, despite being successful, was misaligned. Brian interviews Dr. Gleb Tsipursky. Dr. Tsipursky was lauded as “Office Whisperer” and “Hybrid Expert” by The New York Times for helping leaders use hybrid work to improve retention and productivity while cutting costs. He serves as the CEO of the future-proofing consultancy Disaster Avoidance Experts, and wrote the first book on returning to the office and leading hybrid teams after the pandemic, a best-seller called Returning to the Office and Leading Hybrid and Remote Teams. He talks about the Hybrid Workplace which he believes is only workplace that will attract the best employees but also create the most collaboration and innovation.

Brian speaks with Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown. Mayor Brown talks about the divorce in Peel, the separation of Mississauga and Brampton, that was recently rescinded. We discuss why it was first considered, the economic analyses about it, how it would impact the cities and why the Premier changed his mind. We have a fascinating debate about some alternatives.
