    Vision ain't easy.

Hi, I'm Brian Pombo. Welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Today we have a little bit of a shaky camera situation because I'm sitting here holding it with my hand. And it's evening time is coming over the Pombo ranch here in your at the North headquarters of BrianJPombo.com.

As I'm sitting here, I'm reminded that I don't have my tripod. And I don't have my tripod because I left it in the office, because I thought I had a video going today because I thought my other camera wasn't working all these things string together, and you end up with these mishaps and what you end up with is a shaky video. So I apologize.

So….no, it's just me, I'm just talking to my folks here.

My wife is interrupting because she's not used to me recording outside in the evening. So here we are.

It's a funny thing that I was reminded of, today, it happens quite often, if you're the head of your business, if you're the head of your cause, if you're in charge in any way. And you're kind of leading leading up on where you're going, you're always likely to reach resistance.

You will reach resistance with a customer base, you will reach resistance with your employees, you'll reach resistance with your business partners, you'll reach resistance with the public at large, with people who you may consider competitors, resistance will come all along the way.

Initially, on the inside, it tells us that the resistance means we're going in the wrong direction, the resistance means that we need to go back to the drawing board type of thing. And it's not necessarily true.

In fact, I think in most cases it isn't. You have to remember that if you're the one if you're the vision caster, if you're the one who has the vision of where you're going, and you have a certain amount of energy and confidence behind that, there will always be doubt coming from all directions trying to implant itself in you.

That is the price of vision.

    Vision is an idea.

You could say it's a gift. It's something that you have and you can't expect everyone else to get it.

You can't expect anyone else to understand where you're coming from where you're going. Especially if you have a difficult time putting it into words, or drawing it out and getting all the details just right. It's impossible.

Trying to force it down people's throats is the wrong idea to you can't do that. You have to work with those who are willing to work with you. Those who who can get a slight glimpse of what you see, they'll they'll come along, and the ones who can't or who lose it along the way. Let that's okay, too.

You got to keep moving forward with what you have and what you're confident in. Not that it's it's the absolute, and that that is really where you're headed, but it will lead you to the next step.

The next level of your vision most of us, if you have an idea of where you're going, it doesn't necessarily come all at once it comes in batches. It comes in bits and pieces, and it slowly starts weaving itself together over time.

If this is how you see it, I'm just here to encourage you plow forward, do what you got to do keep moving in the direction that you're being led. And don't worry about everyone else.

Don't hold it against them just because they can't see it.

  • Does Your Content Have Heart? 💗

Brian shares some special birthday art he received from his 5-year old daughter Allie.

    Does your content have heart?

Hi, I'm Brian Pombo. Welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I'm a Business Investor, I help people buy, sell, invest in and build their businesses, really transform their businesses is my favorite thing to do, regardless of what they end up doing with their business, I also help people start their own businesses.

As a business investor, I get involved with a lot of concepts of growth, both where companies have not gone yet, and where companies could go into the future, what has worked, and whether they can keep doing that, or what has stopped them from doing what's always worked.

I've always been interested in these types of things, I just the last handful of years, gotten really good at these particular areas. One of the things that's really interested me, and you'll find, if you watch any of my videos, or listening in my podcast, is the concept of content marketing.

Content marketing is when you're putting out content in with the intent of marketing with the intent of bringing people in to your business to your cause whatever it is that you're trying to get attention for.

Now, this was this is not content marketing, but it proves a point.

This is an actual drawing from my five year old daughter, okay, she said, this is her, this is me, and she's given me this big heart, okay. This was when I was out of town, which, you know, kills you, you know, your kids are drawn your pictures like you like you don't exist anymore.

But I want to prove a point. This in her own way, this was content marketing, this is her attempt to to get attention, attempting to get a certain feeling elicit a certain feeling from me. Just being genuine. Her name is Allie. Short for Alexandria.

And that's all a kid really wants. But if you look at it from from our perspective, in the end, all we're trying to do is get a little bit of attention so that eventually someone's there's going to be a transaction that takes place that's business, right to one extent or another, there's going to be some type of transaction.

There's nothing wrong with that. But in the same end if you can add heart, if you can have put into your content, reality, who you are, what you're about what you're after, what the type of people you're looking to connect with the type of people you're looking to have as customers as patients, whatever it is.

    This is what's important.

This is the most important thing of all, and it gives you I mean, just on a pure practical level, it gives you reach that you can't have otherwise.

In a short period of time, if you can put a message out there that has heart that's genuine, that's not just not just for the sake of making money. But that's a genuine, you know, example, a genuine display of humanity, I guess you could say, if you're able to do that, then you touch something deeper that a person doesn't even know that you're touching it subconsciously, they may not even notice.

But they'll get a little warm feeling when they think of you or think of your product or think of whatever is tied to your brand. And so you got to remember to insert that humanity don't keep things cold and calculated and, and just very business.

    I think that kills everything.

In the end, you got to keep things living, you got to keep it alive.

    Gifts for local business.

Hi, I'm Brian Pombo. Welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I have here a gift from a local, I guess we could call her an influencer. Amy fox, GP CarFox here in Grants Pass is a bit of a local celebrity among people who know her.

She has developed kind of a persona, and I'm here to talk with you about it today.

First, I want to remind you about my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business, you can get a free copy at AmazonProofBook.com. Or you can purchase a hardcopy wherever books are sold, including amazon.com.

But I want to show you now what is this gift.

This is a gift that I received from attending the Chamber of Commerce meeting today. And that's why I wanted to go over it, and haven't even taken the ribbon off of it yet because we are going to unwrap it right here.

I want to I want to kind of break this down for you.

Now what happens it specifically at our chamber of commerce and you can I don't old Chamber of Commerce work a little bit differently, but they tend to have a weekly or bi weekly mixer type meeting. We call ours greeters.

You go to a greeters meeting and everybody has Well, in our case, we have 30 seconds in order to give kind of an elevator pitch for our business, and a lot of them mostly people you've heard something from them before, but some people try and wrap in news and other things.

They're also allowed, you're also allowed to bring a gift every time. So to pass on to the next speaker, whoever gets their card pulled next. Now let's take a look at this. This was a gift that I ended up with. Right take this ribbon off, let's break this down.

    So who is Amy Fox?

Amy Fox is a as a car salesperson here locally. And so she always gives away Little Hot Wheels. Cars. Here's one here.

That's cool. It's a Rally Baja Crawler. Tyler is going to love that. My son is a Hot Wheels junkie, so he's definitely going to love that.

Along with that I'm saving some of the best pieces here for last. We've got Baby Ruth funds eyes for people that enjoy their candies. I mean, how do you get go wrong with candy?

If you if you don't eat candy, you can always pass it on to somebody else. So that's I mean how you go wrong with that. That's awesome.

Also, this is unique, the $2 bill one of these nice, fresh $2 bills, unusual because you don't see them very often.

The famous for Jefferson being on the front, if you don't know about $2 bills go and look it up. It's fascinating history.

Then here's the cool part. She's got her card, which is very cool.

But look at this…she has her own kind of logo, Amy Fox, and she's got the little cartoon Fox there with her phone number. She's with ROE Motors here in Grants Pass.

She always has kind of little updates on what they're doing locally at ROE Motors in terms of what they have available and so forth.

    It's always very interesting.

She also does a lot of social media videos on social media, which is very cool and unique for local. A lot of local businesses do not take full advantage of video. So that's a quick tip on top of anything else and doesn't have to be fancy video,

  • Content Marketing Writer’s Block 🖊️🔏

Working through writers block when your tired and you have a busy schedule.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UtFi5WhRBM

    Transcription

    Content Marketing writer's block.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I'm a Business Investor and we have these kinds of talks where we discuss not just how to invest in businesses, but how to think about these things what to do if you're looking to sell your business, or if you're looking to buy a business.

What if you're looking to change your business, transform it into something better.

So we talked about that, and really how to handle the mental game that you go through, and your customers go through how to communicate better all around.

In that process, I've developed quite a few videos and audio podcasts regarding content marketing.

    So what's content marketing?

It's the is the type of marketing that has content involved it has value unto itself, something that someone is already interested in, though it is marketing in and of itself.

This video podcast, if you're watching, I've got my book here in the background, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business, I use these videos.

This also goes out in audio podcast, if you're listening, I use these as a way to promote one my book, the other one, my website and my business investment firm. So you can read this book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business by just buying a copy off amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com.

But you can also buy it or get a free version, I should say, at AmazonProofBook.com.

This is a digital version, but it gives me a chance to get to know you, and gives you a chance to see my website and to be able to keep in contact with me.

So that's that's kind of why I do that.

Content marketing beyond that, you're you'll have something that you want to promote something you'll want to do with content marketing.

In that process, I highly recommend you keep it consistent, keep it ongoing all the time, as often as humanly possible.

If you're doing that you're going to run out of topics, if you want to stay new, if you want to do something new on a regular basis, you're going to run out of things.

In fact, the topic of of of having a having writer's block for these type of things it comes up often. I'll bring it back up over and over again because it's I think it's a fear that holds people back from ever stepping forward.

Now, there's ways to get around this by having organizing ideas way ahead of time. There's ways to have shortcuts and we've discussed those before, about, you know, maybe going to the news or going to your Facebook feed or whatever else for ideas of things that you can grab and use and talk about.

I'm not even going to talk about that because those are all absolutely possible.

Sometimes you need to find a way to pull something out of absolute thin air. And it could be something that happened to you today.

It could be the fact that Yeah, I mean, even if you can take something like writer's block and discuss it, go for it.

For me writer's block tends to happen when I'm least motivated to do my video.

So I had a very long weekend. I got fell behind and I was not able to produce a video yesterday. It was one of these things where it's just been a it's been an ongoing, go, go go go go.

    Speaking can build your business.

Hi, I'm Brian Pombo. Welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I gave a speech over the weekend, a small speech, a short speech, but it was one relating to my book, 9 Ways Amazon-proof your business, relaying it back to a group of business owners and their style of building business.

So that was, that was a lot of fun and I got a lot of great feedback on it. Actually sold some books, so that was fun. That which wasn't even my intention to go and sell books, but I had some that were available for those that wanted them and so I was happy to do that.

Plus, if you happen to be watching this, and you bought one of those books, and you would like to give me any type of feedback afterward, good or bad or otherwise, I would love to hear it.

I will be happy to provide you with another free gift. I don't know what that will be right off the bat. But I have a handful of things you may be interested in.

So get back to me go you could always go to my website, Brian J pombo.com. And if you're interested in getting a free copy of my book you're welcome to grab this to anybody watching, you get a digital copy, digital free digital copy, if you just want to read it, go check out AmazonProofBook.com.

So the book is all about how big competition is proof and so I gave a talk about it. And I got a lot out of that talk personally. Because every time you can verbalize more about what it is that you do, or verbalize more the thoughts that connect with what you do the ideas, the concepts, you can learn more about it then every bit than everyone else can.

It allows you to become more confident in what it is that you're talking about. It allows you to be challenged a little more because you're putting ideas out there. So you're likely to get feedback that isn't necessarily positive. And that's okay.

But your look, you got to look for that type of thing. Doing any form of public speaking whatsoever cannot hurt your business, it can only help.

Not that you're necessarily looking for a direct transaction right off the bat. But you might be that's a different story. If you're doing public speaking specifically, to sell something, that's a different story.

What I'm saying is doing if you're doing nothing but free public speaking, if you're doing that, and getting a chance to talk about what it is that you do, this is a form of content marketing, it really is you're giving people something that they can use right off the bat, while at the same time introducing them to you your ways of doing things your business, your cause your charity, your church, or whatever it is that you're trying to get out there.

The main idea is if you can practice talking in front of people, one on one, either on a stage or in person, you know, one to many, or one to one, it doesn't matter.

Even doing videos like this, if you have a chance to talk out your ideas to talk out your product, your service, and everything that surrounds it, and all the issues connected to that, from the perspective of who it is that you're talking to.

    That's key. That's very important.

If you can talk to them from their perspective, or from what you presume their perspective to be, then you can't lose doing that you'll get better and better and better. I was having a discussion with my friend Diana, earlier tonight.

I'm doing content marketing that's associated with a famous place we could put Niagara Falls right in the title there, Sean, and people will be able to see it.

But I'm talking about it from a business perspective is if you're doing content marketing on a regular basis, you want to include celebrities, you want to include celebrity places, famous places, you want to include all those things because it draws the eye and stops people they'll stop just to look at it for that reason.

    Content Marketing News.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I am here on the road, waiting for a pickup. I'm in Buffalo, New York airport here, I recorded something last night from the airport of lax in Los Angeles that did not turn out. The noise was just a bit too much. So here I am trying it again.

And we are this is Friday the 13th I'm recording this on and where it is also my birthday. So that's interesting. And we've got let's see, there's a great video I want you to watch because it's a great concept of content marketing. I've shown you Joe Stout before Joe Stout runs Mt. Capra, which is a, a goat dairy farm, and produces some wonderful products out there.

He has taken advantage of some news items and one of the things that he's taken advantage of is the fact that there is a shortage of baby formula right now.

He offers a baby formula recipe that uses his products. And that is really fabulous. It's fabulous. I know because we used it for my third son when breastfeeding wasn't an option. And it was it worked great.

He went from being really puny to absolutely thriving. I can't endorse Joe's work more. But if you just look at it from a business perspective, you can take advantage of news items. I mean, this is all obviously a direct relation to what it is that he offers.

But you can do the same thing for something that isn't so direct. Get yourself take a piece of news, use it in your content marketing, and you will get the attention I guarantee it just in a short period of time is his stuff is it appears to be going viral, at least in my community. My wife shared it and a whole bunch of her friends shared it.

So really great stuff. Good job Joe Stout.

Hey, go check out my book, Amazon. It's the, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. You get a free copy and AmazonProofBook.com. That's all I got for today. I'll see you a little bit later, you have a good one.

First off, I want to remind you about my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business get a free copy at AmazonProofBook.com.

I mentioned I think yesterday that I'm going to be giving a talk on my book over in Cleveland, Ohio, speaking with a number of business owners there, and a lot and some business partners, some people I'm really rather fond of.

So this will be a fun, a fun event. But it's gonna be a while I've got I've got some really funny flights that take me kind of all over the place and leave me in the airport for quite a long time.

So it'll be an interesting trip. Get a good look for those of you watching on video. Get a good look at the background here.

You won't see it for a few days, I'll probably be coming to you from a few different airports. Possibly a hotel, you know, whatever interesting areas I can, I can pop in and that may even hit up Niagara Falls.

I'll be interesting because I'll be in the I'm actually flying into Buffalo and meeting someone there. And I'm going to be flying back out of buffalo not far from Niagara Falls. So I may go check that out.

So maybe I'll bring you along for that trip. Other than that, that is all I have for tonight. I'm super tired. Still not done packing. And I have to leave pretty early tomorrow.

So I better get back to it. You have a good one we'll be back tomorrow is that you know, a lot of times I talk about most of the time I try to focus my podcasts around you and around what you might be thinking or things that might be able to help you based on things that I'm going through. today.

I don't have a good tip or anything else. This was just an update on where I'm at and where we're going next. So for what it's worth, type of episode, we'll see you tomorrow. In the meantime, get out there and let the magic happen.

  • Accurate Thinking 💡 (Self Development)

Some thoughts on self development and mindset.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TF8p0flifg

    Transcription

    Accurate thinking.

Hi, I'm Brian Pombo. Welcome back to Brian J Pombo. Live. Napoleon Hill is a very famous writer from way, way back in the day, wrote, Think and Grow Rich and a whole lot of other classic early books in the field of self-development.

One of the principles he talks about that a lot of people don't give much attention to is the concept of accurate thinking. And the reason why I'm bringing this up is that I was having a great conversation with some folks tonight that we're all here in Oregon, we are in the midst of the election season.

So they have the primary election, which is the early election, part of the here when candidates are running against each other in their own party.

When you have nonpartisan races, they may have large amounts of groups of people running at the same time, for example, the governor field is just covered.

I mean, I think there are 25 candidates out of the two major parties, that Republicans alone have 20 Different people running for governor that are on the ballot, okay, let alone those who didn't make the ballot and are trying to get written in and all that stuff.

It's pretty amazing to see all this crazy stuff happening when you look at it from a certain perspective. But one of the things that I've found with grassroots, I've worked a lot with grassroots political organizers through the years.

And one thing I've found is that it's really easy to miss the forest for the trees. And here's what I mean, it's really easy to get caught up in the motion and the movement, and the feeling like you're doing something or the desire to get something done to do something.

It's not very often that people sit back and say, Okay, well, what are we actually doing?

You know, what have we actually accomplished?

What we set out to accomplish?

Do we actually are we all actually on the same team in terms of what we're looking to accomplish and all these people I'm working with?

When you're when you do that, it's not just something that you do once you have to do it all the time, you have to step back and say, are we accomplishing what we want to now this is just isn't a political thing.

This just happens to be the situation tonight but I see it all the time at business also.

This is even worse because you're dealing with the same people who actually should know better. But when you're in the midst of that, you know, daily hurricane, of just all the stuff you normally have to deal with, and then all the stuff that is coming up recently, and then all the stuff that's gotten left behind, and you get mixed up and all that garbage of the day to day, when it comes to goals and priorities, and really sitting down most of us do not take the time to sit down and say okay, what did we want to do at the beginning of the month?

Where are we now and how can we change that?

So we don't have the same thing happening next month. This is rare to happen. It's rare that someone will take the time to do that. If they do, it's usually mixed in with a whole bunch of emotion and a whole bunch of other garbage that doesn't clear things up.

It just makes more tension between personalities and sexes and everything else, you know, it gets crazy. And I understand if you're in that mess, I understand.

You got to realize that everyone's in that mess...

    Content Marketing costumes.

Hi, I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I want to tell you about something that I was reminded of when I was going back and looking through a book that I had upon my shelf.

I mentioned this one before 21 performance secrets of Donald Trump by Clint Arthur, known as the, you know, celebrity entrepreneur and talking about, he likes to take famous people and kind of break down how they've been able to make themselves known and make themselves famous, and hold themselves out as a celebrity.

He wrote this while Donald Trump was running in 2016. So he plays a lot of back and forth with Donald Trump's whole career versus how he was running for office.

It's a very interesting profile, whether you like Donald Trump or not, it's regardless if you understand the principles of how he was able to come out of nowhere, not completely nowhere, everyone knew who he was, but how he had come out of nowhere politically speaking, run for president.

It's pretty incredible and you have to learn something about how that occurred. This is a good nonpolitical book about that. There was a chapter in here where he discusses costumes.

How Donald Trump had a very specific style costume that he wore when he was doing the apprentice TV shows and was putting himself out there on a regular basis. He had you know, dark navy suit, he had the starched white shirt, and the real flashy, sometimes neon-colored tie, and very shiny and, and just something to get attention.

That was kind of his brand for a very long time. And then when he ran for president, the one thing you saw that changed a lot was the tie is that the tie was made more conservative, you'd see up a striped or a very, very toned down color, colored tie.

He is the persona in that sense, gotten toned down quite a bit. It may not have been from him personally, it was probably from campaign handlers and other people.

But the fact that it happened, you can see that you're talking to different markets for different reasons. And you have a different costume, in a sense. And it's always a costume of some sort. Even the clothes that I wear here are not, they're not overly thought out but they do.

I am very careful to not wear certain things. I want to appeal to certain types of people and at the same time, I don't show up here in a suit most of the time, like many people who do what I do as a business investor or do something similar in that in that vein, I tried to keep things pretty low key, and that's kind of my costume, so to speak.

Here's another person that I love to I love to watch her stuff.

She's got great material out there on social media, especially on YouTube. This is Dr. BOZ Annette Bosworth.

She is an MD, one of her big claims to fame as she promotes a ketogenic diet and goes through details of that from a doctor's perspective.

So she's got some great material, but she how she presents herself is very, very, very key at being a doctor is no small part of what it is that she's projecting.
