    Three years down.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Check this out here. This is my first video as part of this series, okay, I had a few other videos that are still out there, which were experiments in YouTube land specifically. They were and for those of you who are listening to this, you're not seeing what I'm pointing to, I'm pointing to the original show the original episode that came out May 6 2019, three years ago.

Now, I'm recording this a day later and it's probably going to be published a day after that. But the same thing is true, we've gone through three years, over 1,000, I believe it's 1,050 something episodes that were on, I think this is, but I could be completely wrong.

    I think we're at 1,057 today or 56. And so that's a lot.

It's a lot when you got it when you're looking backward, it's quite a bit a lot has happened in that time. If you go on your watch this first episode, you'll realize a lot of things.

Number one, the audio wasn't quite up to par as it is now although it's close, I think I was working with a microphone then the lighting is horrible.

This is back when we were in the Orange Office. For those of you who watched in those early in that early year, we did most of the episodes in the Orange Office, I was still looking for a format didn't quite have a format.

I didn't have anything on the screen whatsoever, no type of effects whatsoever.

That came much later. I didn't have my book to promote, I did not have much of anything else to promote other than the dream biz chat, which I was promoting at that time, I was also very much focused on the specific niche of self-reliance, the self-reliance niche, which I've expanded out from.

I still work within it but I've gone much further beyond that because I've met so many people in other industries that kind of working all over the place.

I was before I even referred to myself as a business investor. At that time, I was mainly referring to myself as a strategist. Even though I do very similar things today, as I did, then, I focused much more on the investing end of it and start my conversations that way when I'm dealing with business owners out there.

So it's a very interesting concept, it's very wild to go back and see some of those original episodes, and to see how things have changed. And to also show you how simple one thing put into place over just a little bit of time spent just about every single day.

And there were stretches in there when I missed a day or two or three. But for the most part, it's day after day after day after day. And there's a secret there in building a habit that I had not really done.

Even at that time, I wasn't doing it fully consciously, I wanted to see if I could do it. But even in my episodes previous to that I was referring to a friend of mine, Adam, Adam the Woo, who is a very famous on YouTube, where he was discussing doing dailies fully unedited.

Also, I was doing them live at that time I was doing them live. But hence the name Brian J. Pombo Live.

We were doing them live on Facebook to begin with, because there was a whole lot of talk about a lot of organic reach that people were getting, by doing them live. Now I wasn't able to teachers really hit those numbers that other people were claiming to have hit.

  • What’s Your Legacy?

Thoughts on leaving a legacy after actor Mike Haggerty recently passed away.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBgKs6IejW0

    Transcription

    What's your legacy?

Hi, I'm Brian Pombo. Welcome back to Brian J Pombo. Live. This Here's Mike Haggerty is an actor that just passed away. I believe he was 67.

If you're a fan of television and movies, you've probably seen him whether you recognize them or not. pretty popular character actor just really had a whole lot of roles.

I specifically remember I'm from the late 80s and 90s, just in a number of movies and TV shows, it seems like he had all the TV shows at one time, and had some reoccurring characters on a number of sitcoms and stuff.

He was a comedic actor. That was kind of his main area of coverage that just passed away. And it's one of those situations I don't normally take on heavy topics like this, but I want to hit on it.

For some reason, it means more to me that this isn't somebody that people are going to be having huge media, blitzes about his death, and what it means and what an impact he had on everybody.

He was a guy that a lot of us knew to an extent just from him playing different characters, on TV and in movies. No major difference other than that, in most of our lives, and the people that know him, obviously, they're going to have a different perspective.

So it brought in my mind just seeing somebody like this. That's famous, but not Uber famous, I wouldn't have been able to tell you his name, but I could tell his face and his voice.

He was always one of those guys that I enjoyed seeing and doing things because he did it, he did a pretty good job but what is your impact gonna be?

What legacy are you leaving behind and why?

And this is a topic that gets brought up a lot. A lot of people say, you know, what do you want your children and your grandchildren to say about you and all that. And I think that's important, to an extent.

I think it's more important, what you leave with people, whether they recognize it came from you or not, it's what you've passed on. Because, at least in my case, I don't care if I'm remembered or not, that isn't as important to me. As in, did I guess you'd say bring more beauty into the world, rather than more, more of the opposite more darkness, I guess you could say.

And did I was able to pass that on to the people that knew me or beyond, it was able to make an impact in the way that I know is possible that I've seen other people make impacts.

Not that that's my life goal but in terms of legacy, that's how I consider it is what got passed on, not what gets remembered about how I looked or how I talked, or that I was some special person.

I think that's all the type of things that we get involved in while we're here. And we get, you know, the ego gratification that comes from that but in reality, I think that what really matters is what you're able to pass along.

What you're able to wake people up to and if there's a few people that think happily about me after I'm gone because of that. Great. But it's not.

For me, it's not the goal. But it's a heavy topic that most of us don't talk about very often once in a while it gets brought up when a famous person passes when are really famous where people are really caught up with that personality.

I think we've even discussed it here before, when when really famous people pass on? Yeah, I did. We did.

    Checklist for feeling good.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I was having a conversation with my friend Patrick earlier today. And he was discussing some of the health issues that he was having and the type of things that he's watching for it and the type of things that he's paying attention to.

A lot of them were nutrition-based, and so forth.

I was also having conversations with other people about similar things where people were having, you know, I got a little this or a little that and there was nothing that was so chronic or horrible that you would definitely recommend that they go talk to a doctor right away or anything of that sort.

And the funny thing about the way the American Medical System is, there's very few go-betweens, rather than going to the doctor's office or going to a hospital, there are very few people, you just call up and say, Hey, I got a question about this.

They exist out there, you know, you got your natural path, and you got your own all these other types of things that are out there, depending on your perspective of, of those. And nowadays they have, they're starting to have, you know, visits that you could do virtually, with a Nurse Practice.

Also want a nurse practitioner that was doing that, or, or even a doctor that you can go virtually, and just discuss with them what your issue is, and they can kind of help you kind of diagnose from there.

But there's a whole lot that you can do on your own. And it's one of the things that I've, I hate to say I've gotten good at it, because then I know the next thing that's going to happen is I'm going to get really sick or I'm going to drop dead.

But let me just say that up until now, I've gotten better and better every year.

Let's just say that every year, I've gotten better and better at diagnosing what ails me. So if there's anything, anything that feels doesn't feel right, anything that isn't doesn't seem to be working in tip-top condition, including my emotions, my mindset, all that stuff, it's all the same to me.

It doesn't matter whether it's physical, mental, or what have you. It's, it's all the same in terms of I handle it the same way.

So I kind of wonder about it, and see what pops up but there's also kind of a quasi checklist that I'll run through and see if there's anything that's different in any of those areas. One of the first main things I'll check is nutrition.

So I'll ask myself, you know, what have I been eating, eating and drinking?

What's different really about what I've been eating or drinking?

Have I been eating or drinking more of one thing, if nothing's different?

Have I had more of one thing?

Did I have that one thing and a certain part of the day, because that really makes a big difference, especially as you get older, you know, if you if you eat too late, yeah, you could be eating old good stuff?

But if you eat too late, sometimes that'll affect things you may end up with heartburn, you may end up with the acid reflux, and you may end up with, you know, feeling groggy in the morning, just because you ate too late, you got your blood sugar spiked, or whatever else, all the other things that happen with that.

But looking at all the different things when it comes to nutrition,

  • No One Cares About YOU! 😮

    Get over yourself, NOW! :)

    No one cares about you.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I don't mean to bring you down but it's the truth. And it's something that we all need to wake up to and remind ourselves over and over and over again.

That's that your opinions, your point of view, whatever it is that you're selling if you have a business and so forth, which is a lot of our audience are business owners.

Nobody cares. Nobody cares about any of it. I don't care if they're your family, I don't care if they're your neighbors, I don't care if they're people who know you, or if they're complete strangers, they don't care. No one cares.

There's only one person they care about, and that's themselves. In a sense, obviously, we all care for other people and everything but in terms of the care of any given moment, most people are concerned with their own cares and their own perspectives. Their own desires, their own wants, and their own fears and anxieties.

Those people are all in here. Not in my brain, it but they're in their brain and you're in your brain. And we're all seeing it from our own perspective. And you have to remind yourself that old thing with they talk about, you know, wi I fm what's in it for me?

What's in it for me, everyone sees it from their own perspective, if you can't take the message that you want to get out to people and be able to twist it around and give it to them in their own perspective, then it's not worth doing.

They're not just that, they may say, you may get somebody to sit there and listen to you, drone on and on about your perspective. But that's only because they see a reason.

From their perspective, they see something that they can gain from what it is that you're saying, they're not listening to you, because they love you. They're not listening to you, because they actually care about what you're talking about.

They may be fixated on you and that's a different thing. That doesn't mean they actually understand anything you're saying. It just means they're sitting there nodding their heads, and they're very happy, they feel good listening to you, but they're listening to you because they feel good, not because of what you're saying.

Or what you're demanding, or what you're asking for, or any of that sort, this is a really tough thing for us all to get through. Because we're so in our own heads all the time that we don't, we don't sit there and realize that everyone else's in their own heads to that everyone else has got their own trip going.

For some reason, it, it's the truth, this is kind of a backwards thing, especially when it comes to marketing is just getting an idea out and attempting to get people to do what you'd like them to do.

I don't care if you're selling a product, or whether you're selling a service, or whether you're selling a politician, or whether you're selling a religion, it's all the same idea you have something you'd like other people to do more of or less of but in order to get them to do that, you have to talk to them in their language.

And in this process, it can be a little overwhelming, because it's the opposite of the way you've been thinking up until now, in most cases, in most cases, most of us can not even begin to see things from another person's perspective.

And this is the conversation I have with a lot of people I ended up partnering up with. And that's okay.

    When goals won't work.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Like seeing you again, it's fun. I love being here and being able to have our conversations on a nightly basis. And I love to be able to actually talk back and forth with you.

So if you ever have any questions or comments, leave them down below.

I'm Brian Pombo. If this is your first time, I am a business investor,

I have nearly three years' worth of content going back all the way on nearly a nightly basis.

So you can see that over at BrianJPombo.com/media.

You go to the media section and go and check that out. And wherever you're watching or listening to this, you can also see what we have archived there on whatever format you're watching or listening on.

Now, I want to talk a little bit about goal setting because it is one of those things that it's necessary. But I think quite often gets it overshadows everything else as being the only thing that's necessary.

I don't think it is the main driver of setting a goal, I do believe that it is necessary to have one, especially if you're dealing with more than one person in the direction of your goal.

If you have other people that are involved, it's important that everyone knows where you're going and when you expect to get there.

Make sure it's something that's specific and measurable. So that you actually know when you're there versus just having a feeling about it.

Goals are important but there are certain periods of time where you can't, you can't work with a goal that isn't going to help. A lot of that happens in the early days when you're fleshing out the idea of what it is you're actually trying to accomplish.

Because you may not know, you may have a whole bunch of different things that you know, work, a whole bunch of talents that you have a whole bunch of different types of people you might like to work with.

You're just kind of tossing things around trying to figure it out. I had a great conversation yesterday with a fellow named Shane Russell.

Shane is running a company called Spirit of the Fair. He has a background in working within the fair industry and he wanted to see okay, how can we take this and apply it year-round?

Too many different organizations and businesses?

How can we allow everybody to synergistically work together and use some of these concepts that he came across while marketing in the fare industry?

So it is really is it's an interesting concept. And he has been working a good three years straight from belief, I remember from our conversation, you'll be able to hear that when it comes out over at the Grants Pass VIP podcast. GrantsPassVIP.com.

But before then I just want to tell you a little bit about his story because I find it interesting. And it's it's, it's a story that I find myself in quite often, which is you end up having a whole lot of things you'd like to do a whole lot of things, you're interested in a whole lot of things that you may be good at.

On top of that, so you got the things you're passionate about the things that i...

    Abortion overturned.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I saw some news stories just tonight, saying that we could find out very soon due to a leak at the Supreme Court that Roe v Wade may be overturned.

And what this would basically do from our understanding of what's happening. What this would basically do is send the issue of abortion back to the States.

And would open it back up for debate where since Roe v. Wade, it really hasn't been open to debate from a federal level.

So all the US basically had to acknowledge the right to an abortion and so forth.

    So what's this mean?

I'm not gonna sit here and take sides and everything, I got my own opinions, you've got your own opinions. But what I would like to point to, if this is true, if this actually goes through, it will be quite a shock to the system of the United States.

But this isn't really even about the United States. This is about anything, anywhere, where you're at. There's always likely to be shocking news eventually.

It may be shocking, good, it may be shocking, bad, but there's going to be shocking news, things are going to change. Okay.

Roe v. Wade happened back in the 70s. And this is previous to me even being born.

I was raised in a world where this was just the standard, it was something I've worked a little bit in politics, it was something you did not question even, it was just something that would not ever go away.

At least that was the way it was always treated. And so when it does go away, or if it goes away in the future, it causes a stir, it causes a shock.

And what you have to do the only way I've known how to handle shocks, good shocks, bad shocks, but extreme changes that you're not expecting.

The only way I've learned how to handle that is by not being shocked by being ready for anything. The closest thing in modern history that I recall, that was pretty much felt around the world was the downing of the two towers and the taking out of a huge portion of the Pentagon during 911, September 11 2001.

That was one of those things that it was shocking, it was entire buildings, which were at one point, the tallest buildings in the world, were brought down to the ground in a very short period of time.

Through a method that no one ever saw coming, or at least no one in mainstream America. And so this was this was shocking. This was outrageous.

From that point on, I said, you know, things might happen that are crazy. It occurred to me, that I was relatively ready for that type of thing. I don't know how you could be. But I was ready. It did not bother me that much.

It was strange, it was different but it didn't bother me I was able to handle it well. And I saw a lot of people that weren't able to handle it well. And I see that over and over and over again. This president gets in this president doesn't get in this happens, that happens and people let it affect them.

Therefore we talk about business on here a lot because I'm a Business investor. If you're running any type oa business, it's really easy to let your personal life leak into everything else. And it's nearly impossible not to.

So your personal life has to have a certain you have to have a certain amount of insulation arou...

Thoughts on helping others by helping yourself first.

Self Reliance quote by Gary Keller.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Tonight is going to be a quick one for you. I just wanted to put out this quote that I saw and it was probably the most simplified way I've seen of explaining self-reliance.

We've talked a lot about self-reliance. In the past year, I've had people that a lot of people that I've worked with and around that were big into the self-reliance industry.

It's one of those things, it's kind of near and dear to me, and something that I like talking about because it's one of those things that I think is, is rather common sense, but not all that common among the public that most people don't discuss it that often not quite like they did many years ago.

So here's the quote, tell me if you think this isn't just brain dead simple, or even overly simple, says, "The more you work on yourself and help yourself be the best you can be, the more you can help everyone around you be the best they can be."

And that's Gary Keller that said that.

And I saw this quote on social media, and I grabbed it and said, I'm gonna have to talk about this sometime. I think I grabbed it today. So that's sometimes today.

So here we go. It's one of those ideas that is just so simple, that if you can help yourself first, then you can help other people in modern-day, I think it's explained the best. And it's explained like this over and over and over again.

But I think it's it's a good analogy. It's when you're on the plane. And they're giving you the rundown that they have to give you by law every time about the fact that when oxygen falls from the ceiling, you need to put it on yourself first, and then help other people to put it on them.

Like, regardless of anything else, the idea and don't get caught up in the idea of whether the oxygen actually matters or whether it's there just sue the US or whatever else. I know, there are a whole lot of theories as far as that goes.

But just in general, the idea that you have to kind of be somewhat stable before you can help someone else who isn't stable, or help someone else become more stable or help someone else get up to a certain level, in order to help other people you have to have already have been helped in a sense.

And self-reliance is the idea that if no one's going to help you, you got to help yourself. I mean, there are always options for people to help you. But in the end, you're always going to be dependent somewhat more on yourself than on anybody else.

In most cases, obviously, there are situations where people from the day they're born until the day they die, they're completely 100% dependent on other people, for them to be able to have a life or to have at least a decent life that happens. But it's not the norm, the norm is most of us.

If we don't take care of ourselves, ain't no one else gonna take care of us. And it probably wouldn't be good for us if they did. But if we take care of ourselves, and then that allows us to take care of other people, either when they're not in the right place to be able to do it for themselves.

Or they're in a situation, like I said, where they just can't, they just can't do it. And so that's always going to happen, we always need to be able to help people. But if we can figure out how to help ourselves first, it's really, really useful.

    Want attention? Watch the headlines.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Headlines are funny thing, headlines they exist in all forms out there. Okay.

And so whether you're talking about videos on YouTube, whether you're talking about links that you're clicking on, but the specific thing I wanted to point at, is actually News Headlines.

News is a great place to look at these types of things. And you could still see it, when you're, when you're shopping in a grocery store, you could still see tabloids, which have amazing headlines, or the magazines that are sitting on the rack next to that on your way out the door.

Those have great headlines, they can be very specific to the audience they're trying to reach. But if you look at the headlines you think.

What attracts my eye first what words attract my eye?

Me personally, and I'm talking about you ask yourself that but you could really do it when looking through the news online.

Just go to a new site or go to one of these sites that has a lot of different news, go to Google News, or what have you. Just search through the headlines and look at what attracts you.

Look at what really attracts you a little bit to read the whole thing?

Which word is it that pulled you in and what's that say about you?

And then watch for the ones that are nearly impossible to pick out.

Look at this one. That is from the New York Post, which really do have good headlines. I mean, they're known for their sensationalism, they kind of go after a lot of that. But they really do have these sensational headlines.

Here's one talking about the thing that you definitely don't want to drink at McDonald's. Does that pull you in?

I mean, anybody that that ever goes to McDonald's at all?

Or even if you don't go to McDonald's, you're you kind of want to know what that is. What is the one drink that you don't want to drink at McDonald's?

My first thought was the milkshakes because the last time I had a milkshake at McDonald's, it tasted like melted plastic. It was horrible. But maybe it maybe it's something else.

    What is it?

What is it I'll tell you at the end, but doesn't drive you a little bit nuts?

A lot of you are going to be clicking off of this just to go see what the answer is. If you wait till the end of the video or the audio here, I will tell you what it is but that's look at how it puts it. Its hooks in you.

If you can have that type of curiosity-based headline, oh, man, that's fabulous. And that doesn't. I know you're not on. I'm not saying you're out there putting out news stories.

But I'm saying if you're trying to get the attention of anybody, a prospective customer or client if you're trying to get the attention of a donor if you're in a nonprofit, and you're looking for donations, no matter what it's the same idea.

If you can get really good at grabbing attention with nothing more than a couple of words, just a string of words put together.

If you can do that, you can print cash. In the end, that's what it comes down to. You can or produce whatever you want to produce. The famous copywriter Gary Halbert was famous for putting out an ad for a girlfr...

    Documenting and content marketing.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I wanted to talk a little bit about what this meant here, this my Facebook friend, what he posted earlier today. The post basically gets to the point of winning when it comes to content marketing.

He says to document, don't create. And I love I like that.

I like that concept a lot. Not that you shouldn't be creating when it comes to content marketing. But if you're doing nothing else but just documenting, you're doing something, and you're putting something out there, I'll give you a place to look more into this.

I've discussed this a lot on some of my earlier podcasts and my earlier episodes from Brian J. Pombo Live. But this is a great place to go and look for it.

This book, Show Your Work, by Austin Kleon. One of my favorites, because the whole concept of the book is basically to show what it is you're working on.

So find a way to showcase what it is you're working on, whether it be a blog, whether it be video, whether it be audio, get it out there, show people what you're doing.

Through that process, it helps you and it helps them and it helps get the word out about who you are. And he knows this from experience because it's what he did.

As he was putting together these, these different pieces and different books and different artwork and stuff that he's built.

He was documenting it, he was putting it out there. And so it's a nice simple way.

It's simple, but it's not necessarily easy right off the bat but if you can find a way to document what it is that you're doing, as if you're doing a documentary, and be able to put it out there piece by piece and put out your struggles and put out, you know, basically your life on display. It's not about the ego gratification of oh, look at me, obviously, that's always it's always there when it comes to social media and so forth.

But if you could use it as a way to bring that bring message back to what you're trying to get people to do bring it back to your call to action.

That is really one of the best ways to just start, start a conversation, talk about something that happened today, show something that someone else is doing, you know that there, there's no end to the ways you can use content marketing to help you especially if you're consistent with it, if you're doing it on a daily basis or weekly basis, then you can build this type of thing up and you don't have to be super creative.

You just need to tell people what's going on. And then tie it back to what you wanted to do what you wanted to buy what you wanted to download. For example, I always recommend that people go and download a free copy of my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

It's all about how to make your business competition-proof. You can get a free copy by going to AmazonProofBook.com.

See, I've tied it in with what I'm talking about because I'm talking about what about tying things in so it makes it easy. That's not always as easy.

If you've seen or heard these episodes before. It's not always sometimes it can be a little bit clunky.

It's just one of those things that I just toss out there and sometimes I just forget to say it all together. So you got that you got this book show your work.

    Trump's Truth versus Musk's Twitter.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I'm using this time to really explain something that isn't being explained that clearly and at least it's not being heard by a lot of people who keep asking me what the heck is going on. So let's talk about it a little bit.

This is a little bit of reflection on the news but I'll find some way to turn it around into advice for you also in your business.

So I'm a Business investor and so that's a lot of what I do is talk about how you can work this in your business.

I use this podcast, my book and everything else within BrianJPombo.com, as a way to be able to con connect with business owners, either successful business owners who are looking for partners, or people who are looking to go into business.

So that's the whole point of BrianJPombo.com.

In fact, while I'm at it might as well talk about my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business. This is specifically for business owners and executives that are looking to make themselves competition-proof.

Okay, this isn't going to work for everybody but if you are in that kind of position, and you're looking to beat out the bad guys, even if the big guys in your industry are as big as amazon.com, that sort of hints Amazon-Proof.

So I've got to you go purchase this book. It's inexpensive, it's a quick read and it's a you could also just download it for free at Amazon proof book.com. Amazon proof book.com.

Let's talk about Trump. Let's talk about Musk, sorry about what's going on here. So, got a little bit more information today on what exactly is happening.

Although it was kind of clear early on what happened. Now, we all know that Elon Musk went and purchased Twitter, that purchase is still going through all of the rigmarole of the official stuff. But in terms of the two parties, agreeing to him purchasing, that's all happening now.

They're waiting for all the regulations and stuff to go through. But as that's happening, everyone is a huge portion of people that were put off by Twitter, or jumping back into Twitter.

This is kind of driving Twitter's stock prices up and everything else that just the idea of having something new and different there is bringing excitement to a place that didn't have a whole lot of excitement.

Up until now over the last couple of years, they've been kind of floundering and losing kind of ground in terms of their, their their power in the marketplace, regardless of where you stand on the politics and everything of Twitter.

That's the business end of things. So we all a lot of us already know that's occurring. But the largest person to get kicked off of Twitter largest well known and I say largest in terms of how well known they are, would be the illustrious Donald Trump, while still president was removed from Twitter during the same day, week, I can't remember it was a very short period of time when he was kicked off multiple platforms across the board.

And so Twitter was one of the big ones because Trump used it so often. So with that happening, after being out of office, he went out and began his own social media platform, which is still trying to get up and going cold truth social.

Here's the problem with truth social right now truth social, they had,
