    Commitment & Content Marketing.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Brought to you everyday by AmazonProofBook.com. So if you go to AmazonProofBook.com, you can get a free copy of my book, 9 Ways to Amazon-Proof Your Business.

So go check that out, I wanted to talk about content marketing, and how you can go about committing to it now, right now this is a perfect situation, I am sitting in my car.

Alright, it's about 11 o'clock at night and this was a situation where we're going to town.

This is Tracy, California, that we're visiting family and if you've been following the videos for very long, you'll notice that I get out and about on occasions, especially during the holidays, I've got times of the year that I always go out and visit family.

So here I am in this situation, we're staying at my my dad's house tonight, and the house is full of people who are either sleeping or trying to sleep. And so here I am out in the car recording.

You've got to have that type of flexibility, you have to have that built in or you have to have replacements built in to fit around your lifestyle when it comes to content marketing. If you're doing content marketing on a regular basis.

If you have someone at your company doing content marketing, you have to make sure that they have these things built in.

That's how they're able to commit to it to make it stick to make it last long to make it enduring. That's how you go about doing it. Yeah, I'm sitting here with my phone. It's shaky. It's nothing special, okay, sitting in here with the t-shirt in the middle of the night, sending out this message.

The message is you have to have these things systemized.

You have to have it systemized for it to last and the only reason to ever move forward with ongoing content marketing is to make sure it lasts.

Now, that doesn't mean you've got to do it like me. And you've got to have these videos that go out on a daily basis. That's not what I'm saying. All I'm saying is, whatever you go with, you got to have a commitment behind it.

If you have that commitment behind it, then you're gonna make it work no matter what. And so here I am, making it work no matter what. And making a story about it. So hopefully that makes sense to you.

Stick with us, I've got more coming up as we move along. Throughout this week. I'll be I'll be half the week down here in California. visiting with family, maybe I'll find something interesting to look at and be able to film it for you.

Otherwise, I'll at least have some quick little lessons.

Go check out more by reading my book if you haven't gotten it yet. AmazonProofBook.com we'll be back here tomorrow. subscribe, follow wherever you're at and we'll be back. You have a great night. Get out there and let the magic happen.

  • Zoom H1n for Podcasting?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlnCxFIAD2c

Brian talks about his cool new purchase for recording live podcasts called the, Zoom H1n.

    Transcription

    Zoom H1n for podcasting.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Today we are reviewing the H1n, the Zoom H1n, and this is i don't know if you can tell it's a small little thing very simple digital recorder not simple it does a whole heck of a lot but it is deceptively simple in presentation.

There's not a whole lot to it it takes two double a batteries in the back it's got a little spot that you can screw in a tripod so you can have it i actually have a small small little tripod bought separately that i could just screw this right in is the first time i'm doing this so i'm assuming i could screw it right in, I can there it is.

So I could set it down I bought this for podcasting and it's one of those situations where it doesn't take a whole lot to do podcasts especially live podcasts.

If you're doing them at a distance zoom works perfectly well for an audio podcast or a video podcast but especially for audio. If you've got a strong enough connection it doesn't take much i have also done interviews over the phone where there's apps that allow you to record basically it's a third party that's recording the conversation that you you kind of have a three way call that's the best ones i've been able to use so far at least on an iphone.

But when it comes to live conversations i was looking for something that i can record a conversation with multiple people in the room. Because i have these little lav mics like the one I'm using right now and i'll have two of them on a splitter connected to my iphone.

And I've gotten really good at podcast quality off of those when you start splitting it more than two ways it can get a little iffy and it's one of those things where I just didn't want to go through the hassle of that in person.

I just wanted to be able to have something that I could sit down and record and this thing's got microphones going in two different directions you can see that there and so it really gets ambient sound. It also allows you to adjust between zero and 10, they missed 11 for some reason but zero and 10 you can adjust the sensitivity of the mics to where you can really pick up a lot.

I mean I've got it somewhere between five and six and it does perfectly well you do it any more than that and you can hear yourself breathing and everything else.

It's like I don't need it that direct but if I have a further away from me I'd probably turn it up a little bit if i had a couple people in the room I might turn up a little bit and just send it away from us and make sure that it's picking us up.

It's got a place that you can listen in on it's got a place that you can plug in another microphone and so you can get a whole lot out of this and just doing some minor recording off but i can't believe how wonderful it sounds really really good.

There's a whole lot of technical stuff about i don't even understand but if you're looking for something if you don't need something that's super techie but just has a very simple idea behind it.

You'll want to get an sd card i bought this in a pack somebody had a little kit that included a 32 g i believe is sd card and that's how you keep memory on it so you want an sd card. Was a bunch of memory on it so you can record as much as you want and stuff like 32 g's quite a bit when it comes to just recording mp3 which is what i'm doing with this so so far so good.

  • Why Digital Content Will Never Monopolize

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvNsc3F4UYI

Will digital really take over live, in person entertainment in the long run?

    Transcription

Why digital content will never monopolize.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

I'm gonna talk about digital content versus physical content and live interaction.

A lot of people, especially with, so recording this, and in March, the end of March 2021, we've gone through an entire year plus of COVID-19 pandemic madness.

Whether you agree or disagree, you have to agree that it has been a wild ride, regardless of what has occurred. One of the things that's happened is everything has been forced into the digital realm, whether you wanted to or not, some meetings have only been available digitally, some conferences, some speeches.

I mean, there's a million different forms of content out there that we would normally have the ability to capture it in physical format, or in a digital format, or in a in person format, I should say.

It's only available digitally right now. Or up until now, and things are starting to open up right now. But up until now, a whole lot of digital was about all you can get, right. And most of that's through force of law. Okay.

That's really the only way, I mean, there's a whole nother topic talking about monopolies. The only true monopoly you can ever really have long term is via force of law.

Beyond that, when people talk about technologies coming up it doesn't mean that the old technology completely goes away in most cases, unless it makes it completely irrelevant.

But even that classic that everyone always brings up about the horse buggy whip people talking about how, you know, there will always be horses, and they'll always be a need for horse buggy whips. Well, it's true, there are still horses that are guiding carriages around Central Park and so forth.

But it's not as widespread as it was, as it once was, okay, cars took over completely. But it doesn't mean that people don't walk anymore. It doesn't mean that people don't ride their bike, it doesn't mean that people don't jog.

In fact, I would venture to say that we've increased the amount of other activities that people can do not that they do, but that people can do outside of the typical transportation of a car.

I mean, just since having cars, we've invented other ways of getting around. But that's neither here nor there that it's the idea of the digital monopoly, the idea that digital is going to destroy print, that digital is going to destroy what the the ability to be able to get digital in your home, is going to destroy the movie theaters.

And I'm sorry, unless the government forces movie theaters to shut down, people are going to want to get out and go watch a movie on a big screen, or some facts, some reasonable facts, only people are going to we're going to want to go watch plays, people are going to want to have that physical interaction. It's built into our substance as humans, I should say.

I want to show you where there's some cracks in this whole thing. And this, this is one of the things that I've seen a lot lately with digital entertainment.

So you can go and purchase a movie digitally on Amazon.com, you can purchase a book digitally on Amazon.com. If Amazon decides that there are parts of that book or movie that need to be edited, and the publisher does not edit them, they can delete it, it doesn't matter that you think you have ownership of it.

  • How To Overcome A Bad Mood

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc8ugR0Kc9o

Thoughts on how to overcome negative emotions.

    Transcription

How to overcome a bad mood.

Or as I call it, rain clouds.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live. This is a show that we like to talk about

things that affect business people, and people that are looking to do something in the world. And that may be you that, and if it isn't, you'll probably still get something out of this particular one.

Because I'm not incredibly moody person. I'm a pretty even keel person. I take things as they come and I don't let many things shake me.

Every once a while I won't handle something right and I get immediate feedback, like contents bricks, me or what have you. And I know what I did wrong. But no matter what, I think it's just part of the human condition.

There are points in time, which I wouldn't necessarily consider mine a bad mood, but there's like, bad weather that just shows up in your brain, or in your psyche or whatever that it just feels like nothing feels right, you know what I mean?

It can come out of nowhere. Sometimes you wake up with it, and then it goes away later. And then other times like today, the reason why I'm talking about this is because today I got home, after having a pretty successful day, I gotten a lot done.

I was relatively content and all of a sudden out of nowhere, feel like garbage, no, like depressed. But just like Buddha is not feeling very well. So I figured I may need something to eat.

So I had a little bit of something to eat and I felt worse, I didn't feel good at all I got. I ended up with getting a headache, which is unusual, which I even have a video on how to get rid of headaches, or the four top four ways that I use for getting rid of headaches, and I kind of went through that process partially haven't taken a nap yet.

But I'll be getting to sleep early today. And it just but it's one of those things where it just happens sometimes.

Sometimes it's nothing that you did. I honestly believe that sometimes it's not your fault. It's just seasons, you know, the good weather comes in good weather goes, and bad weather comes and bad weather goes, it's not that big a deal.

You just have to kind of hang it out and not let it pull you down further. Just see it for what it is. Watch it and see if there's anything you did to affected or to make it happen. Because sometimes that'll happen, that it's your fault.

But you got to just pull back and just wait to see. That's the best advice I could give, because it's honestly, it's the only thing that I do.

When I get into one of these spaces, sometimes I can't get more done and instead of letting that bother me, I've just gotten good at just accepting that this is where I'm at who here's again tomorrow.

This is also a warning out to my producer who handles both this show and my other two podcasts. I had some stuff due to him tonight that I'd said I was going to get done. It's not going to get done.

You'll see half of what I said was going to get done is going to be sitting there waiting for you. But the rest of its going to have to wait till tomorrow, the commentaries, just so you know, Sean, just so you know.

It's one way or the other, I've committed to coming to you every night and bring you a little bit of a perspective. That's hopefully helpful. Hopefully, that helps out.

    If not now, later.

  • My Podcast Update: March 2021

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbi4qZHqPvE

The value of podcasting and Brian's journey that led him to hosting the 3 podcast he currently has today.

    Transcription

    My podcast update, March 2021.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

    Let's talk podcasts, shall we?

Currently, I have three different podcasts that I'm hosting. Probably some others that I'll be taking part in as time goes on. But right now I'm hosting three different ones.

I'll go through them and kind of how we came about developing each one, and where they're at now, where am I going next.

Now, why would you watch this?

You want to watch this because I want you to think about where you're at?

    Do you have a podcast?

If not, should you have a podcast. And we've talked a lot on this show about podcasting about the abilities, developments in podcasting, how anybody can really start one, it takes very little.

You can watch some my other videos concerning that. But I'm going to tell you a little bit about the history.

Maybe you can see where this can fit in with your life, either. Even if you don't host one where you can get one to one. And now I'll show you some opportunities that I have that you may be able to come on one of my shows.

So originally, the whole podcast idea came out from a lack of public free content that I had available out there, I wanted to be able to set myself up properly in the eyes of prospective clients in the future.

What I was coming across over and over again, was a lack of initial trust, just because there was so little out there about me, purposefully, I was trying to keep it as closed in as possible to try and control the content.

In doing that, I unintentionally gave out the idea that I did not have anything going on. You see if you're not public, if it's not out there in the public eye, if somebody types your name into Google, and they're not able to find very much that that gives off the wrong the wrong perspective.

What both me and one of my main business associates, Sean Douglas, who helps produce all the podcasts and everything you see here, the descriptions, everything, so much of it is done by Sean. He has been kind of my right hand man behind the scenes making things happen.

And we came to the conclusion, also with help of my wife, Kate, she was kind of the one that urged it on early on, was the idea of having an ongoing podcast.

So we started The Off The Grid Biz Podcast, because at the time, one of the main focuses that I was going after were self reliance based businesses, I wanted to kind of jump in and dig in and find out more about them, and to see if there was any need for the services I provide and there has been quite a great response.

But the market has changed extremely through the last couple years.

So we started off this podcast and just started interviewing people. And as we got going, we thought we saw that there was a really have a am, I'm looking for the right word, there was a whole lot of gathering of self reliance based businesses with Mother Earth News. So they were advertising in Mother Earth News Magazines. And they were also going to these Mother Earth News Fairs, okay, which were spread out across the United States.

I wanted to dig into some of this stuff. So we found one that was happening very nearby up in Albany, North of here, about four and a half hours, something like that.

    Transcription

    You need to connect locally.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

Let's talk about connecting locally, shall we? I've been discussing this a lot lately, especially we're recording this in late 2019, excuse me, late of March in 2021.

Right now, we're in the process of reopening up after the COVID-19 crisis, pandemic, whatever you want to call it. And so as things are opening up, people are feeling the need to connect.

It's tough to connect to reconnect after so long, especially if you were used to having connections all over the world trying to go back out and reconnect with people, I mean, physically, in person, reconnect, it's tough.

For one thing, you could start electronically, you can go out and meet people electronically, a lot of meetings are happening. Still happening locally, I'm plugged in with Chamber of Commerce, I just visited in on a BNI meeting the other day, which was great.

There's a lots of groups meeting online, if not, in person, where you're at, start there. And then find people who don't mind meeting one on one. And if they do mind, you can always get together via a video chat like you, you would with some of these larger meetings that are meeting online still, but connect, don't stop. Don't stop connecting the more people you know, the one thing that any crisis cannot take away from you isyour capital, relationship capital.

I guess you would call it…it's the relationship, the connection you have with people. And the more people that you have solid relationships with. The more people you have loose relationships with, if you know them and they know you, that's a good thing, especially at a local level, especially in times of crisis.

When you're needing some extra toilet paper or something of that sort and everybody's out. Knowing people is a capital, knowing people has value. It's a wealth that can't be taken away right now.

They are printing up money more than ever right now. I've got…let me see here, you see what I have, I've got a little band of money here you can hear the rubber band andleafing through it, I'm looking for a particular bill, I want to show you $100 bill, right $100 bill.

This thing is, since the moment I pulled it up, and showed it to you is becoming worth less and less and less, you can buy less and less with this prices are going up. They're not going to stop right now at least, prices are going to continue going up because the world governments are spending money, like it's going out of style, not spending money.

They're printing money, I should say, printing money like it's going out of stock, what happens when there's more of it. It doesn't go as far because it's spread out more, it's out there more and more people are using it.

There's checks being written to everybody, still for COVID-19 situations not to say whether that's good or bad. I'm telling you what's going to happen because of it, what's going to happen is money.

Even if you have it physically in hand, it's not going to be worth as much it's someone has control over that value, not direct control, but they do have more control than you do over the value of that paper and doesn't matter what you have.

There are always other people that have a certain amount of control over the value of what you own.

Final thoughts in a 3 video series from Brian about Robert Kiyosaki's classic, Rich Dad's CASHFLOW Quadrant.

    Transcription

The 3rd Lesson from CASHFLOW Quadrant.

Hi I'm Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

It's an old copy of mine of, Rich Dad's CASHFLOW Quadrant, by Robert Kiyosaki classic, absolute classic. I have two other videos that I discussed the first two lessons that I learned from this book directly.

This third lesson has to do with the reason why this book caught me. This book slammed me against the head and dragged me to the ground.

And that third lesson that I got from this book, is the reason why it was popular in the first place. It's the reason why, when I was working at Barnes & Noble bookstore, they had a separate section all set up with Robert Kiyosaki stuff.

It wasn't because of all of the claim that he had built up until that point, because he was relatively new, in general to most people. This is the year 2000. And this book was popular got so much more popular, even though it was his second major book. His first major book was Rich Dad, Poor Dad, his second major one was Cash Flow Quadrant.

Even though it came second in line, it was extremely popular and got a lot of play out. There was a New York Times Best Seller was a best seller across the board.

The reason why is one major reason there were a whole lot of things that led to Robert Kiyosaki growth, oops, excuse me, a whole lot of things grew.

That allowed him he, he got in early to the network marketing scene, and was able to use networks that were already in place, and was able to get his books out there and get promoted as a speaker and so forth.

A lot of that built his early fame, big time, but the fact that his that his book was able to get to this one particular person, and the fact that she was able to read it and then promote it made all the difference in the world. And who is that person? That person is Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah Winfrey had Robert Kiyosaki on her program in early 2000. And that is what propelled him to superstardom at the time. What gave Oprah so much control over the American psyche?

Well, she had that Oprah Book Club, she had the ability to promote people she had them on her afternoon show is the afternoon show, it's a is a syndicated show, it was on across the world at that time, is very popular with a very particular sector of the market of you know, housewives and people that were home at the time. And she just had a real huge amount of influence.

Very similar today, you don't see a singular person that has quite so much influence, you see a couple larger ones, Joe Rogan, if you can get on the Joe Rogan podcast, that's a huge thing right now, when, when I'm filming this in 2021, there's a handful of people like that, that if you're able to break through, that could be enormous for you, and everybody else that really get it has been brought down into even smaller sectors than what Oprah had. Very small, niche sectors that each unto themselves are huge, very powerful places.

But that influencer term that is discussed in the movie fake famous, which you really ought to see, it's on Netflix, Fake Famous, I have a review on my on my page, so go check that out.

But that movie talks about the power of influencers. And it I think it does. It doesn't go in deep enough into the history of influencers, and Oprah was a super influencer.

I mean, she still is to an extent,

Some thoughts on cashflow movement from Robert Kiyosaki's classic, Rich Dad's CASHFLOW Quadrant.

2nd Lesson from Rich Dad's CASHFLOW Quadrant.

I am Brian Pombo, welcome back to Brian J. Pombo Live.

One of my favorite books by Robert Kiyosaki is, The CASHFLOW Quadrant, I talked about yesterday. You go back and rewatch that one, I talked about the first lesson, I learned about cash flow from, CASHFLOW Quadrant.

And this is the second lesson, this is a series of three. I also talked about how I came in contact with this book, which was pretty interesting. This lesson, extremely simple, just like yesterday's one, is very, very, very simple.

But in it, there is…it's magic, because it's one of those things that isn't taught. It isn't discussed, it isn't covered.

My parents didn't teach me this, although they taught me part of it. It's all about a balance sheet. I don't know if you've ever seen this before.

But this is very interesting, this is a balance sheet. Talks about it right in this book, it goes through much more details. So you can go check out the book to find out more details. But this is so interesting.

It's one of those things that if you're a business owner, if you're an executive, you probably already understand this stuff. And this is far beyond you. But if you want to understand how to explain to someone else, this is a great way of doing it.

So you could take one piece of paper and on one side, you split in half, and you got income and expenses, and you take another piece of paper and you split it down the other way.

You've got assets and liabilities. income is what you're making on a regular basis, it's what's coming in, right?

Expenses is what's going out on a regular basis.

It says today, so once this is, you know monthly or daily or whatever is that your expenses, what is going out on a regular basis. assets, assets are things that are putting money in without you doing anything that it's bringing money to you, putting money in.

Liabilities is taking money out, it's making sure there's more expenses versus income.

Two very different thing that is simple, simple, simple. But here's, here's where the visual side of it really comes in handy. And he talks about that this is the most common thing that people get taught.

This is what they how they live their life, they go out, they get a job, they get the income coming in, they get the expenses going out. There you go, that wouldn't be that bad.

If that were the only way that people did it. You know, it would be very simple.

They wouldn't understand assets or liabilities. But here's the real problem is that most people, they get a job, and they purchase liabilities. So they'll go out and purchase a house or a car or whatever, something that pulls money out on a regular basis, and increases their expenses. So their expenses grow.

Because they bought a liability instead of buying an asset. Most people are never taught how to buy assets, how to buy things that put money in your pocket.

The thing is they tell you to go out and buy a house is one of the things that Robert Kiyosaki talks about all the time, they tell you to go out and buy a house and that's an asset.

In most cases, a house isn't an asset, because it's taking money out of your pocket for the next 30 years or what have you. So here's here's the,

Now, I will tell you one of the first business books I've ever read. And one of the first that was recommended ever recommended to me was this book. In fact, I think it may have been this very book based on the age. It's the whole yellow and everything.

I found it in my stack of stuff. If not, this was one that I had bought for somebody else to read and ended up with it back in my hands. It's a very interesting story about Cash Flow Quadrant. And I'm going to go through three lessons that I got from this book, some directly from this book, some because of this book. But it they're tied to it.

The first lesson I'll tell you the story, how it started.

So what ended up happening was, this is this this kind of story of my business life in a sense, because I was in the process of I wasn't interested, I've always had a slight interest in business.

But not really, I never really saw it as my future. My future was in acting in specifically comedic acting, and had a comedy troupe of sorts that was put together and we were going to be building ourselves. after we were done with college or toward the tail end of college.

While we were at a point where we had all decided we were going to move to the same town and live under the same roof and start practicing our art while we were finishing up college, those of us who were finishing up college.

    So

that town was Chico, California. Because one because one of us had already gotten a full ride or at least they they got accepted into CSU Chico, which is the State College there. And the rest of us and I was planning on doing that. And so I when I came to town, a whole everything pretty much fell apart. The entire troop pretty close to fell apart at that point because most of the people all of a sudden decided they weren't going to be moving up there after I had already gotten up there.

The day I arrived, the main person the reason why we were moving there was in the process of moving out as I was moving in to a apartment with two people who were one was a complete stranger, the other I had met previously once before.

So here I was in a strange town with a strange situation, living with strangers, knowing really nobody in town, and really wondering where life was going to take me next because I thought I had it all figured out. At 21 years old. Man I didn't, I had no idea what I was in for I had no idea what was next. And so I pretty much opened myself up to the universe and said,

Hey, you know, big guy, whoever's out there, show me what's next.

And I got in a situation so I was I already had a position. So I had previously I was when I was living in south of there but still Northern California.
