It’s my last show…as Save the Date, with Monday heralding a new era of the podcast with the launch of the Bridechilla Podcast! WOOT. On today’s #fridayquickie…Trisha and her fiancé have changed her wedding date (bringing it forward) and the family is going mental. Her mother in law is making a bunch of excuses about why they shouldn’t get hitched early. Anne and her #groomchilla has found the perfect venue but her parent thinks they are putting the wedding before their marriage and are spending too much money…drama ensued. What should they do? Anne is disenchanted with the wedding process. Be on your way to wedding Planning Zen with the Bridechilla Guides! Visit the Bridechilla Store and use the Codeword LISTEN for 10% off your order! Today is one of those episodes of the wedding podcast, that I really super duper enjoyed recording… I mean I always enjoy recording these shows but today, in particular, the #bridechilla voicemails are particularly awesome. #Bridechilla Alex and her fiancé are getting hitched on a cruise ship but are concerned potentially some of the elder relatives and guests may not ‘make it’ to the big day. Although this may sound Debbie Downer, and I have to admit that it did make me giggle and I did make some fairly bad taste jokes in this episode, I do appreciate that we have no control over who was around or not to attend a wedding especially when you are in the situation of having to travel on a big boat and plan ahead. #Bridechilla Mel is super organized and gives some pretty amazing suggestions that I have never used on the show before so she gets 10 gold stars. She also has a question about her sometimes domineering mum and how to pave the way for her in-laws to have more connection participation with the wedding planning process. I've been working on my new book… which is all being a bridechilla (of course) and I started to create a list of wedding planning truths, things that will just happen when you are wedding planning and basically the sooner we accept them the sooner we can get over them and move on. As soon as I finish the list I realized this would be a great podcast topic. In this episode, I cover everything from… the gargantuan amount of wedding dresses on offer that all seem to look the same, why I believe wedding magazines are on the way out, how to avoid getting sucked into creating an over the top themed, extravaganza wedding and your inevitable move into becoming a bridechilla politician, one of the many hats that you will wear over your wedding planning time. #Fridayquickie- Sarah isn’t into the idea of opening gifts in front of guests. Is it kosher to avoid having to do this? Yesenia shares some pretty fantastic details about her upcoming wedding…she and her partner have gone all out in following their desires to create a 1920s Frida Kahlo inspired event…which sounds AMAZE! She is using Etsy to find unique items that match their theme. I also share some more fabulous feedback from you about my recent request for your opinion on how I can move the podcast into more of a viable business model without my lovely listeners being impacted too heavily. #Bridechilla Danielle who is also an event planner leaves a frustrated voice message about family and friends pressuring them to make decisions quickly when it comes to wedding planning. I have a theory about ‘old people’ and they need to organize and schedule things ahead of time… They are the original FOMO crew. Chris's fiancé is really into the idea of making their wedding super original and is very anti-using any ideas that they have seen at other weddings… Including candy that was featured at a wedding, they attended in 2011. No jokes. She has a question about wedding favors… She isn't a fan herself and her fiancé is really into them, should she just let him go to keep him happy or is this something she should pursue and risk a drama. Yesenia and her fiancé are planning to get hitched next May, they are hoping to do a small destination wedding with close family and friends and then celebrate with their larger group when they return. Yesenia is really chill and I think we should all absorb some of her laid-back attitudes when it comes to making wedding planning decisions. I'm looking forward to hearing where they decide to go for the destination wedding and I'm so glad that she isn't stressed and was taking everything in her stride. I constantly admire the strength and openness of the wedding podcast community and today it's wonderful to hear from two listeners, both from Texas who share their thoughts on their wedding planning processes and the highs and lows that surround the journey. Erica is a big fan of A Practical Wedding and she shares some of her thoughts on the pre-engagement pressures and also some wonderful ideas about what you've bought wedding planning would be about and what it actually is… Looking at what is important to you as a couple not just what wedding magazines suggest you should care about. #Bridechilla Sarah has received some hard health news and is struggling to connect with the happiness that she thinks she should be feeling surrounding her wedding vs the conflicting feelings that she is going through with the health news. I'm so grateful that she shared this voice message with us as I know we don't all share the sort of topics and I think that her openness and strength are admirable. Lastly, I make a little bit of an announcement about the future of the podcast… Something we've been working on for quite some time and I'm delighted to be able to finally share it with you. Today #Bridechilla Alecia shares the highs and lows of their wedding planning, from cancelling their big wedding that was due to be held across the country, to then planning a smaller wedding coming up with lots of problems with the family so they decided to shift the whole wedding planning back to their home town and start again. I love her attitude and resolved to finally do what they wanted to do and by doing so they feel less stressed, they've removed the white noise that has surrounded their wedding planning and they are actually enjoying the process which I think is the best result possible. I am also happy to share a voicemail from #bridechilla Wendi, who has had a small crisis of conscience but also I think knows exactly the decision she needs to make. Thanks so much for listening and I hope you're enjoying the show! Be on your way to wedding Planning Zen with the Bridechilla Guides!
