There're many things banned in space: like salt and bread, because crums can damage the equipment. When it comes to beverages, carbonated drinks are off the table as well because they're buoyant in a weightless environment. But pencils are also prohibited to use in space. Why? The answer will surely surprise you...

  • There Could Be Another Universe Beside Ours
Earth’s oceans are only 5% explored, outer space is supremely larger — and we haven’t explored even a hundredth of a percent of it. But space exploration in real life is just as fascinating as it looks in the movies. Space facts are always interesting to learn! And what we have already learned is mind-blowing.
Did you know, for example, that Tthe farthest we can see into space today is 13.2 billion light years? Or that there’s trillions upon trillions of light years of space beyond the edge of the observable Universe? Or that Black holes aren’t completely black — they have a barely visible hue of their own? Here are really cool facts about space and they will rock your world!

  • What Princess Diana Was Trying to Say Wearing 2 Watches
1981. Prince Charles and Princess Diana are engaged. The soon-to-be bride often went to various events with her future groom. One of those was a polo tournament at Windsor that Charles was taking part in. Diana was on the sidelines rooting enthusiastically for her fiancé.
That’s when cameras caught an interesting detail: Lady Spencer had two watches on one wrist: a dainty one with a thin gold strap, and a bigger watch with a leather strap. The assumptions soon followed...

  • 50 Quick Body Facts for Your Next Conversation
We rarely think about how interesting and unique our bodies are. Did you know, for example, that your brain holds about 25 million gigabytes? Or that we do have a 6th sense? Or that by adulthood, you produce about half a teaspoon of tears a day?
The longer humankind lives, the more secrets people discover about one of the most mysterious organisms: the human body. We mostly learn facts we never expected. And the more facts we gather about ourselves, the more discoveries we want to make. So let's find out the coolest aspects of the human body.

  • What If Your Fingers Were the Same Length
Why are your fingers different lengths? And what would happen if all five fingers were of equal length? I was browsing the web the other day and took a personality test – something like “what your finger length reveals about you”. When I found out I can’t be a genius because of the way my fingers are, it made me wonder: why do your fingers have to be of different length anyway?
It looks like evolutionary history still doesn’t have a 100% clear answer to this question. They recently found a skeleton of a guy with a lump at the base of his hand from 1.5 million years ago. It means humans possibly had hands just like we do now back then. Until then, millions of years before, their fingers were long and curved, their palms were extra broad, and their thumbs were small and weak. So, what made humans evolve and go from uniformly shaped fingers to what we have today?

  • What If a Drop of Lava Fell on You
What's the temperature of lava? Is it hotter than magma? And what's the difference between lava and magma? Well, lava is the stuff that flows from volcanoes. Magma earns its lava status once it surfaces. It’s not just a terminology thing – that magma also loses some gases and acids when it gets its new nametag.
It’s hottest when it first erupts from underground and cools down as it flows. You can make an educated guess of its temperature based on the color. It starts out bright orange and burning at about 2,000°F! Then it “cools” down to bright red (around 1,600°), dark red (1,300°), brownish-red (1,000°), and finally black once it’s hardened. So, what happens if you touch hot lava?

  • What If Number Zero Disappears for a Day
What does zero mean to you? Do you think it's just "nothing"? But have you ever wondered what our world would look like if you took away zero just for a day? Btw, you might be surprised to learn that zero hasn’t been around forever. Yes, we used to live in a world without it! It was invented in India during the 5th century.
But why did it take humanity so long to understand something as basic as “zero”? You can see those 3 birds perched on a tree branch or those 2 bees flying around your 1 can of soda. But zero? The absence of something? You never see it, never think about it because it’s not there for you to perceive! Yet zero is so incredibly important…
