  • “Potter Dubious Pete”. Villa Review
Pete and Russ are back on Zoom to dissect the latest disappointment at Villa Park, where Albion bossed possession and general play once again but also presented us with the same issues in the final third.

We ask is Pascal Groß‘s time up as a regular first teamer, how can we best enhance Tariq Lamptey’s returning presence with good link ups, should we finally ditch our striker flops (Locadia and Connolly) in favour of our up-and-comers (Sarmiento, Tolaj, Ferguson) and will our loaned out attackers be able to come back and be added to the mix (Zeqiri, Mitoma, Khadra, Sima).

We also note Ole being a Gunnar - driving off the cliff while at the wheel - against another shocker from Harry ‘Slabhead & Fingers-In-Ears’ Maguire , bemoan Crippled Phallus’s immunity to deserved red cards (that’s 3 this season now!), lament Sussex footy’s woeful weekend and ask if the penalty-encroachment-retake rules need changing.

  • Fanzine Special Volume 1 (& Villa Preview)
Making his debut on the pod is Ian “Harty” Hart aka Lenny Rider from the famed Gull’s Eye fanzine and we also warmly welcome back sports journalist and Albion fan Nick Szczepanik, known in fanzine and NSC circles as Not Andy Naylor, for his second appearance on the BRP.

Under discussion is the advent of Gull’s Eye (& Ear!) and some of the events and circumstances that surrounded that era from 1988 to 1997.

This is the first in an occasional series of pods on Albion’s fanzine history. So settle back and enjoy the chaps (mainly the somewhat talkative Mr Hart ;) regale us with their tales.

Nick then stayed on to discuss the week’s news and to preview the Villa game / Steven Gerrard Show this weekend.

  • “Game Management & KnowHowe”. The Newcastle Review & FA Cup Watch
A sporting concession cost Albion the win vs Despotivo FC at the weekend, but we had 96% possession during one 5 minute passage of play so it’s all good!

Joining The Rock regs this week is Robin Woolley, our ‘North East Correspondent’, to cast a spying eye over the mood on Tyneside and the appointment of Eddie Howe at Newcastle, not to mention new brooms at Villa and Boro.

We also glance curiously in the direction of the Albion Women, the EFL loanees, The FA Cup 1st Round & the arrival of a safe standing trial at 5 British grounds.

  • “The ‘Disinclinement’ Scale”. Liverpool Review & more
In this packed episode, Russ and Pete mulled over the magnificent performance (and point gained) at Anfield on Saturday, Pete moans about the hellish return journey home, Nuno’s departure from Spuds comes under discussion, the boys preview the FA Cup weekend and Saturday’s home match vs Saudi Arabia FC.

We also posed the question: was Saturday’s draw at Anfield Albion’s best ever PL era performance?

  • Polly Bancroft, Outfoxed & Coming Back From A Comedy Of Injuries, with Neil Atkinson
In this episode, we extend a warm welcome to Brighton & Hove Albion women’s and girl’s general manager Polly Bancroft, who joined us to talk about her role with the club and about all things BHA from the women’s and girls side, including not least the seniors’ visit to Arsenal for the prestigious FA Cup Semi Final this Sunday (4.45pm, Meadow Park, Borehamwood) .

In Part 2, we review the Leicester League Cup defeat from midweek and then in Part 3 it’s the men’s preview as we speak to The Anfield Wrap’s Neil Atkinson ahead of Albion‘s visit to Liverpool this weekend.

  • Man City Review & Saudi Rant Part 3
Russ and Pete review the weekend’s action as Albion came a cropper at the hands of the quick firing Cityzens, who brutally punished mistakes in the first half to go out of sight.

On the upside there were some good individual performances, especially from the subs, which included Tariq Lamptey - back with some proper sizzle and fizz!

There’s also a look at the rest of the weekend’s PL results, a round up of non league Sussex action and of course a nice Newcastle rant again, as Palace fans displayed a banner protesting the takeover over Newcastle, their weekend visitors.

Oh and W e also previewed the upcoming League Cup visit to The Kingpower this midweek.
