  • “Can You Adam & Yves It?!”. Ep.129: Everton Review
Peter, Russ, Andy Knott and Andy Bravery are in the squad for a look back at Albion’s goalless draw with The Toffees. Yes, ANOTHER home draw. No one has more draws than us this season now. But we had at least some great creation in the garden of Amex with the biblical talent of Messrs Lallana and Bissouma to covet!

The boys also talk about potential changes to the squad and the status of those coming through the system.

Stand or fall! UTA! And down with horrendously biased media coverage!!!

  • “Ooh-Aah Bob Booker!”
In this special, we had the pleasure of 90 mins in the company of former Brentford and Sheff Utd player and long time Albion assistant manager Bob Booker, discussing his formative years in Watford, his playing career, the Albion years under Micky Adams, Peter Taylor, Steve Coppell, Mark “Pints O’ Whisky” McGhee and Russell “he’s got no hair, but we don’t care” Slade.

We recount the Withdean era in all its rain-soaked glory, talk Millennium Stadium glory, Little Leon, damaged Play-Offs trophies, driving instruction and a bizarre near death experience.

And somewhere in the background WiFi-hindered co-host Peter lurked!

    Stand or fall! UTA!

  • “The Caxton Is Back (As Is Biased Reffing)!!” Ep.127 with guest Brett Mendoza
We were rejoined this week by regular Robin Woolley and by friend of the show Brett Mendoza, landlord of The (rather excellent!) Caxton Arms pub in central Brighton, to find out about his journey through lockdown woes and onto the happier times of pub gardens reopening next week, with full returns also on the horizon.

Then there’s the utter shock of us having experienced a woeful referring decision in favour of Man Utd to talk about. I know, we can’t believe it either! VAR didn’t think it Maguired much scrutiny and Albion had yet another poor decision to add to the Like Hell Does It Balance Out In The End trophy cabinet of dreadful decisions. It’s Alex Ferguson mind control!

Stand or fall! UTA! Up The Caxton!

.....but also down with Dean and VAR and bloody well leave players’ shoulders alone Maguire, you fluky, lumbering, slab-headed oaf!

  • Preview Special: Battle For Survival - The Run-In & Man Utd
As we enter the final 9 games of the PL campaign (8 in Fulham’s case), we invited onto the pod Cottage Talk podcaster Emilio to give his views on the season to date and The Cottagers prospects for survival (and our’s) as the battle to avoid the bottom three starts to heat up.

We did also invite Newcastle media / fans to join us to give their opinions but rather tellingly, absolutely NONE of them responded at all, let alone politely declining. The cowards (‘Steve Bruce’s’)!

Then in our final segment we caught up with one of last season’s guests, Man U fan Sean Sorohan, to size up this Sunday’s attempt at some Albion revenge for that outrageous travesty of justice at The Amex earlier this season, the game which spawned the nickname Leandro Trossbar!

Stand or fall! UTA! And down with the Newcastle bottle jobs and fluky Red Devils!

  • Non-League Special Part 3: Worthing FC, starring Adam Hinsh’
In our third focus on the Sussex non-league scene, we cast our Gulls’ eyes along the coast to Worthing FC to catch up on what has been happening there since we last looked. Sadly it’s a case of “a new day, a new prematurely-ended season” as their promising start and the suggestion of another promotion campaign ahead was once again scuppered by Covid lockdown and league decisions.

Adam Hinshelwood and his squad will be hoping it will be a case of third time lucky when things return to normal, and we were delighted to have Hinsh join us to tell us all about that and all other matters relating to the team and his plans for them.

We were also joined by Hayden and Sam from fan groups ABF and Away Boys respectively to give the views from the terraces and to talk about the revolution in fan culture at Woodside Road.

In Part 2, Hinsh touches on his Albion days and THAT own goal - he brought it up, not us!!! and WFC’s match day commentator & Rebel Yell podcast co-host Peter Vale comes on as a HT sub (for Sam) to give his views on the current state of play and to show off his prominent mic! ;)

So, rapidly increased attendances, noisy support, pre-emptive ground improvements for the benefit of players and fans alike and an excellent administration and ownership behind the scenes means things are looking up for The Rebels / Mackerel Men. Could we be on the brink of seeing the best ever years ahead for this proud old 135 year old institution?! If Hinsh and the lads on this episode are anything to go by we sincerely hope so.

Stand or fall! UTA! And Up The Rebels!!!

  • “Total Football(?) & The Pascal Pirouette”. The Newcastle Review
Clinical finishing at The Albion? Why, of course!!! Yes, three of the best saw off woeful Newcastle as the team made it a rare back-to-back success on Solly March Day (20 March), which also happened to be Tony Bloom’s birthday (and that of one of our guest contributors, Robin!).

But was this really a rare hone win? I mean, the boys stayed overnight in a hotel before travelling to the ground together by coach. Sounds suspiciously like an away game to us!

Tross, Welbs and Maups (yes, Maups!) provided the goal celebration material and Russell, Richard, Andy Knott and Raymond “The Gent” Wright the post match analysis.

  • “As Easy As Episode 123!”: Together For AITC Event & Newcastle Previews
Russell caught up with Stateside Albion podcaster Josh Goldsmith to talk with him about his Together For AITC 12 hour livestream fundraising initiative that takes place this weekend on Saturday 20th March 2021 midday-midnight on twitch.tv/togetherbha.

Endorsed by The Albion and in aid of fund raising for the club’s charity wing Albion In The Community, the event promises to be quite the extravaganza with Paul Barber, ‘El Capitano’ Bruno Saltor, Mark Lawrenson, Andy Naylor, Kieran Maguire of Price Of Football fame, football summariser (and Albion fan) Dave Beckett, various charity related guests and multiple hosts rolling throughout the afternoon and evening all participating, plus there’s a competition, a pre match view from the Newcastle United viewpoint and a watch-along and post match section concluding the bonanza.

Josh also gives us his views on the upcoming biggy vs Newcastle and on inbound PFA man Maheta Molango, possibly Albion’s shortest lived legend and cult hero (his fame in dear ole Brighty lasted for about half a match!).

If you are an Apple user or subscriber, please rate us five stars if you can see your way to such unwarranted benevolence and you can submit written reviews too. All favour is very, very much appreciated.

  • “Successfully Missing The Trossbar & ¡Felicitaciones a La Pantera!”
So Albion started brightly, took the lead, conceded an equaliser and then went on to lose to a late winner. You know the drill by now! But wait! Hang on! What’s this?! A change of match narrative? Yeah right, we’re not that GULLible. But no, it’s true...Saints alive!

Yes that’s right boys and girls. We’ve matched their win at our’s earlier in the campaign (without the need for a dubious penalty though!). Adam Lallana completed another 90, Tross missed the Trossbar to score the winner and Andi Zeqiri played a half to good effect at left wing back. No, really!!

It’s all here and prevaricated over in detail by cheesy grin brigade, who also doth their hats to Bobby “The Panther” Sanchez, for his early stage call-up to the Spain senior national team squad for the upcoming internationals. It was that second goal concession v Leicester what did it we reckon ;)

No joking aside well done, sir!!!

The Pod Squad: Andy Bass, Andy Bravery, Andy Knott, Andy Holberton (his name is actually Richard but it doesn’t seem to fit the template!) and your host Russell Guiver.

  • Sixty Years Following The Albion, with guest Ken Sharp. Plus Saints Preview
With Albion again resting their worried bones this midweek (we are only just getting used to not having weekday games to review this lockdown!), we took the opportunity to speak to lifelong Albion fan, since his schooldays in the 60s, Ken Sharp.

A fine chap, Ken tells us when and how he got into following the team, his early memories of big crowds and an alarmingly big defeat, a winning ticket, moving house on cup final day and a son’s party trick with the bannisters, right through to seeing the club return to Brighty at Falmer in more recent times and the happy memories he’s been building there.

We also peruse the news and preview our upcomer v Saints

  • “Substantial to Substandard - and that’s just the puns!” The Leicester Review
It all started so well (the Leicester game that is, not the substandard pun-laced intro to this pod). But in the end it was peak Albion as we gave away yet another lead, failed to score more than one again, switched off at key moments to clinically-punished effect, screwed up the subs and conceded a late winner. Ah such cosy familiarity!

On the upside, at least our players aren’t calling Graham a “coward”, unlike one from a certain club in the North East has allegedly done. Such sweet harmony!

This week’s lamentations are provided with sweet sorrow by your regular co-hosts Pete and Russ...our regular guests all said they were busy but I think they were really just too melancholy for words!
